11:35: Those are rare SDP45s (psgr version SD45s with longer frames to fit a steam boiler). EL purchased them without the steam boilers--they just wanted the longer underframe for more fuel capacity. 13:31: A better view of the boiler-less rear end.
Another awesome reel. GY Tower is in Geneva NY. NW of Seneca Lake. These locations are now part of Norfolk Southern and the Finger Lakes Railroad. Thank you!
My father is doing well. His editing has slowed in recent years and his trip notes are missing. I figure it is best to get the raw video uploaded so it doesn't get lost. We are nearing the end of what we have digitized.
6 or 7 videos left. I have another 100 reels that need to be digitized but it is expensive. There will likely be significant delay once these 6 are released.
The caboose at 10:12. A cupola with no windows and a bay window. I had never seen that before. This is the 2nd one I have seen in Mr. Wicksalls videos. Does anyone have any info as far as original RR and such. BTW, I was just a youngster on the opposite coast back then .
Freight cars with road names and no graffiti. How nice that was.
I'll second that. 👍
Interesting to see the mix of locomotive road names during the transition era. Thanks for posting!
Especially the ones in original colors with "CR" slapped on them.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for sharing! Grew up south of Syracuse (Tully/ Cortland area). Love these videos.
The best era to model in my opinion. You can run whatever you want and still be accurate. Plus no graffiti trashing up the rolling stock.
I always find it fascinating the amount of stick rail used back then
