Started this with my 12 week old Mal. First session was almost laughable but we had a couple where he actually looked up at me. Rinse and repeat and the second session he really got it. We've done this four times now. Moved his climb to the backyard to see how it would go with more distraction and he is my little rock star. Really helps to have him hungry.
I love the way you train with bonding breaks for the dog. I can see how that could really benefit the relationship with the dog as well as the dog's manners.
I've done this with my dog since I got him six years ago but I still learned a lot from this video. I say his name for the eye contact and I love how he looks to me immediately when he hears his name even when we are in public. Thanks for the free tips!
Good to know. My pup and I are currently on week 3 of 6 private professional training. As soon as we're done I'm becoming Patreon sub. Thanks for the reassurance.
@davidcomas5698 Absolutely my pleasure! The content on there is second to none, and will give you ALL the keys. When you start to understand his philosophy, the possibilities are endless. Best of luck with your pup and see you on there! Cheers!
Absolutely 👊🏼 EVERY dog out there that is reactive/ distracted, ‘not following commands’, has behavioral problems guaranteed has zero ability to execute this session in any/ every environment 💪🏼
Andy thank you! Awesome! I get my Doberman pup next week and this will be one of the first things I do. Thank you thank you man! Great to see something my pup can do the first week until we get commands down
What's up Andy K. I just watched this 5 min challenge and you betcha, I'll be staring this tomorrow morning with my 2 McNabs and 2 Borders. I think I may have to wait out the deaf Border but she may surprise me. Will have to wait and see what happens stating tomorrow morning. Awesome video
You are amazing! I have used your training with my standard poodle. Her heeling has improved unbelievably! this is next and she is 10 months old. Never too late! Thank you!!!
Newbie here just a half dozen vids in to your outstanding content. I have a 10 mos old Mal for 12 weeks now and man did I really need to see this today. Nothing wrong with going back to the basics for us. Refresh!
I love this! I have a high drive working line puppy, I'm grateful for your videos. I am seeing a huge difference in my boy already.. in just a few short days!! You absolutely rock!! Thank you!! 💕
Im trying this with Allie today. Actually, im gonna do the three day challenge of this exercise with both my dogs. BM and Great Pyranese/Lab mix. Both 2 yrs old.
I live in PA and Im looking to buy a belgian malinois but stuck on how to get started. I just started following you and you have so much info but I want to make to right choice on pick the right breeder, so if you can give some info on how you got started and where you went for your first dog. Have a blessed week.
I am thinking so the "pay" comes straight from where he looked, in the eyes. If the dog looks at the eyes but the food comes from the side he might not learn to hold his focus. Just guessing but it makes sense.
Love this! Definitely doing it! Started with a trainer in my area today with my pit on obedience training. Can't wait to see how she does. Hope to one day get her to heel nicely next to my wheelchair and help me get things I drop.
Top training tip! I have one question. You said dog has to be hungry, that is his meal. But you also said 3-5 times a day 5 minutes, but if he is at 2 meals a day or 2 meals a day, how do you do that? Give him less at each training than you would on a nirmal meal and sprad it throughout the day?
My Giant Schnauzer (4.5 yr old) has to sit calmly when I put his food bowl down. After he makes eye contact with me, I release him by saying, “ okay “. He learned this extremely quickly after we brought him home at 10 weeks of age.
Love the 5 minute challenges!! I do today's challenge exactly like you except I have the rewards in my mouth and spits them to my dog. That way I think I avoid the dog being fixated on my hands….Or am I wrong??
Is this how you always feed your dog's? Also my dog gets fed at around 8am and 4pm both very busy times that I'm unable to do this so should I leave him wait for his food till I have some spare time to do this?
@@AndyKrueger no not at all I just mean at those times it's crazy cause we are getting ready for work and getting kids ready for school and 4pm is basically the same in reverse, kids are off school this week so past 2 days I've done this with his food for the 4pm feed but when they are back in school it's much more difficult so would you recommend changing his feed time slightly so I can do this with him always?

Nice job! I even get the lesson.
I love the 5 min challenge and so dose my dog. Thanks!

Top stuff!
I’m definitely doing this with my Dutch Shepherd puppy….
It’s a MUST! 😃💪🏼
I like this 5 minute training session the best of all. Builds that engagement that is so important. Thanks again Andy !
Absolutely 👊🏼

My border collies will love this exercise
Love it! Great pro tips!👍🏼
Bellissimo ❤
God bless America I mean Andy!
Awesome Stuff Andy
imma try this on my BM for his session today 😁 he's still a pup. 😁😁😁
I used to give it to my dog for free but now I’ve stopped and made her work for her food.

Did you find a breeder-? And if so- can be you share ? - thanks
Nice! Why do you bring up your hand to your eyes before delivering the food? :) Love these 5 min challenges!

Andy secretly loves pit bulls
Haha! Ummm….no comment

Happy training!
@@AndyKrueger thanks! She has amazing focus and extremely food motivated.

Yep 👍🏻
Hey, i was wondering if your merch ships to Europe😊
I believe so!

Not at all, you can do that for sure 👍🏻
Can I use training treats? My dog isn’t very food motivated
Where can we get the elevated platform?
What's your thoughts on needing to moisturize the kibble? I've hears it's hard on their organs to just give them dry food.
I’ve never heard that
Is this how you always feed your dog's? Also my dog gets fed at around 8am and 4pm both very busy times that I'm unable to do this so should I leave him wait for his food till I have some spare time to do this?
You don’t have 5 minutes to dedicate to your dog?
@@AndyKrueger no not at all I just mean at those times it's crazy cause we are getting ready for work and getting kids ready for school and 4pm is basically the same in reverse, kids are off school this week so past 2 days I've done this with his food for the 4pm feed but when they are back in school it's much more difficult so would you recommend changing his feed time slightly so I can do this with him always?
@@Daz13479 I would just adjust your dog's dinner schedule to fit your schedule better.
@@AaronJaeger thanks that is what I ended up doing as I also read that there should be about 12 hours between feeds
What brand treat pouch are you using?
It’s a Gappay training apron/kilt 👍
What brand is that kibble?
??? Andy what training apron are you using???
Gappay 👍🏻
what does putting the reward up to your face do?
What would you guess?
just to pre-warn people in UK, police can question a 'HE/SHE BITES t shirt' if your dog gets into trouble.
Do I need to have a raises platform for this?
Nope!
no offense but your malinois makes him look like a dunce. lol. love your channel. love your malinois
What's his thoughts on clicker?
I like the clicker
Exactly what iam needing to work on.(eye contact) #DRAKODAGERMANSHEPERD
