You know no one who got destroyed by that one? Just because governments deem it legal and because its socially accepted does not make it less harmful. Hell, there are plenty of reports that alcohol is just as destructive as illegal drugs.
let me ask you: what if they made alcohol illegal. YOu'd stop for the rest for life? Or think its a fucking stupid law because its your body?

You do the SAME thing every other hypocritical alcohol consumer does, and completely separate booze from everything else because it's legal, and only because it's legal. I realize you've seen people ruin their lives from drugs in SA, and I've seen the same shit here in America, but don't for a second act like booze doesn't do the exact same fucking thing to hundreds of millions of people around the world. Either be consistent with your view on mind altering substances, or don't get fucking preachy and morally grandstand, it's really not a good look. Also calling people "hippy dippy" because they can have a nuanced view on drugs is dismissive and a cheap trick.

I don't partake so I never really knew the details, but in my county (El Paso, City of Colorado Springs), you couldn't buy recreational pot even though it was legal to smoke it. I'm wondering if Cali has weird laws like that in play or if you can go to the supermarket and buy a pack of cannabis cigs as you said.

I hope more people ingest it than smoke it. I hate the smell, maybe more than tobacco. But I also understand that mainstream cannabis will tendentially be smoked, because people want the quick rush, and that expresses and also amplifies the problem instead of the solution. And thus it will be used mainly recreationally, rarely medicinally.

say this from my recent experience in China that it now became a police State and set up " network of watching eyes on every movement of people from the West. And I have to tell you that your WeChat Tencent chatting history is read and censored by an agent( in China every 8th man is CCP agent) and reported. When you leave for your country at the airport, you may be stopped further for further questioning or be detained and asked your activities in China. You have to know that China is not a safe country to go to because in the first and second tier cities of your travel every corner (almost ) a hidden surveillance camera is secretly video taping every movement and edited to your profile..... Your pictures movement !daily travel activities social activities are now stored. Thus for example, by just inputting " John Doe" the CCP can read and investigate the whole of you and your life in China in lesst han 1 minute and can make quick decision to stop you at the airport ...
Most Westerners who fight Chinese bloggers on the internet on trivial
matter or minor violations are ignored, but those who consistently touch on sensitive issues such as China's pollution politics economy foreign policies food safety internal power structures may be subject to further WATCHING AND ARREST AT THE AIRPORT!..
Now especially China is going to have a decade once Plenum to pick a new President in Ocotober. Internet censorship on WeChat Tencent is very strict and every suspicious writing is reported! I stronly suggest everyone to refrain from going to China!
Why do you spend your money for such a country which does not appreciate you?
Now China has a new law requiring a citizen to report any foreigner( Westerner or Non Westerner) of any suspicious behavior conduct activities for $ 70,000!
Thus ignorant uneducated citizens always take pictures of a foreigner and try his luck by just tapping an " CCP application" on the smartphone!
Nobody in China likes Xijinping now. I asked young people about him and no answer from them was positive about him! NONE!
His nick name was " I heard from them was Xitler!" a no brain and just opportunist went up to power because of his father..This was everyone 's response from China!

+wor worma "Now China has a new law requiring a citizen to report any foreigner( Westerner or Non Westerner) of any suspicious behavior conduct activities for $ 70,000!" That's a large amount of money for just helping the police catch a criminal. How big a crime does a Chinese person need to help solve to get $70k? Are there any reported figures for how much has been paid out to date? Considering most rewards for live capture in the United States top out at $100k for high level most wanted criminals - I have trouble believing the CCP would be paying that sort cash for low-medium level criminals.
"Those who consistently touch on sensitive issues such as China's pollution politics economy foreign policies food safety internal power structures may be subject to further WATCHING AND ARREST AT THE AIRPORT!.." arrested and charged with which crime? The worst that is going to happen is you're going to get deported for suspicious non-federal crimes.

The POINT IS marijuana and other drugs ARE illegal and punishable by death in China. Alcohol and tobacco aren't. Therefore Winston and Matt regard China's laws because they live there, have wives there and want to continue to do so. So, they are not going to do things detrimental to their being able to remain in China. Whether they smoke tobacco or deink alcohol is irrelevant. Yes, alcohol is bad and so is tobacco but that is what is available if they want to stay within the laws of their adopted home. Winston is like many that has been negatively affected by other drugs. He is adamantly against them because of the trauma that he went through because of them. All of your "weed is better than alcohol and tobacco" is not going to change the fact that it is very illegal in China, and this is were they live and they won't endanger their ability to stay in the country. If Winston was to ever live in a country where weed was legal then he may change his mind but, because of his past I would understand why he wouldn't and completely understand his stance on illegal drug activity in China.

If they weren't heavy drinkers, you'd not realize how they're much worse then. Because successfully suppressing severe issues creates far greater monsters than people who themselves cannot stand them and use alcohol to vent them, to attempt to go through a catharsis.
Alcohol removes inhibitions and thus brings out the otherwise hidden core personality. There are happy drinkers, sad drinkers and angry drinkers. You want people to express their happiness, their sadness and their anger. That is how the world will heal. Not by pretending those emotions aren't there.

Psychedelic drugs (Inc MDMA) can be very beneficial to general well-being and to get over stressful and psychological damage. Other drugs are also fine as long as you don't go overboard and treat drugs with respect and also do the required research to use safely. Just shame that too many stupid people use drugs and give it a bad name.

He hates the people that are around illegal drugs, ie criminals (drug dealers) and the toll addiction can have on people and communities. I don't think he necessarily hates all drugs or the people that use them. Things like MDMA can be very beneficial to people with PTSD in controlled medical circumstances, but take it from someone who has taken ~200 pills of MDMA, ~50 tabs of LSD and ~a pound of mushrooms in his life, it stops being a good thing pretty quickly. MAYBE once a year is fine and beneficial. Anymore than that (unless you are microdosing for a reason) is not going to be helpful to ones life. Things like crack, meth and heroin are not easy to control, very easy to get addicted to, and are really not beneficial or suitable for someone trying to be a productive and happy human. If you want to use drugs recreationally stick to some beer and maybe a spliff if you're into it and its legal (ie not forced to buy it from people selling heroin for instance.)

They do have benefits though, like cleaning your toilet or making your car engine run....

I'm glad you clarified everything near the end of the video Winston, and C- milk. Although I'm sure you're like me and could give two shits whether somebody like you or not, I won't lie and say that for a second there your attitudes towards people who use drugs kind of put me off. But you definitely whether you care or not, redeemed yourself. Your attitude towards the middle where are you kind of chastised the people who did do drugs, sort of put me off. I'm glad you clarified that you didn't give a shit whether somebody did drugs are not near the end of the video. The reason why it bothered me once because not everybody really gives a shit about living in China permanently. A lot of people just want to visit. I can greatly appreciate your efforts and attempts on trying to keep General people safe during their visits to China. I could only imagine how stressful and scary it might be to be visiting China and have somebody suddenly scare the living shit out of you with the prospect of going to jail for the rest of your life and a foreign country simply because you wanted to smoke a little bit of weed. But here's the thing, the culture is so extremely different and not everybody wants to be a part of that culture for the rest of their life anyway. So your attitudes, although understandable and justifiable, should probably change a little bit just because if anybody should know about the rest of the world, you guys should. And by that I mean you guys should be more understanding and tolerant than the average Joe. No, it was an enjoyable video, and hopefully one day when you guys are anywhere near Florida and the United States, perhaps we could at least interact whether it's on camera or off camera. Damn dude, thanks for the info. I used to hate cannabis like all other drugs, I've changed and appreciate it's purposes that I don't feel are harmful or self destructive. If cannabis wrecks your life, you were a loser to begin with and needed to fall sooner rather than later. It's a very valuable drug, I hope China considers it for at least their elderly and very sick.

      @tyrelgoldberg661 7 лет назад

Issue Smoking and Drinking Ban. It has been done in the past. What stops China from doing that? Unless the population is so addicted to those drugs that prohibiting them will cause a massive uproar.
Alcohol is even worse, a silent killer. We can't even measure it's impact, because you might die from being fat, not knowing that alcohol made you fat. The sugar/starch which alcohol is made of causes obesity, diabetes and plethora of other illnesses that we can't even measure it's impact on.
It sickens me when I see people go to countries like China and are pressured to drink in fear of showing disrespect. And it's not the locals fault, they just don't know any better. People need to wake up and realize what shit they are taking or forcing other people to take.

Are you saying you have never been given alcohol in gesture of goodwill? Give me a break. I don't have to be in China, to know what's going on.
Your county has some of the sillies laws I have ever seen. The treat all drugs the same, but allow tobacco and alcohol to infect every aspect of society.
The infamous one child policy that scarred your demographics for generations to come. Forcing rural farmers to kill their newborn babies in hope for a boy. 50 million aborted or killed daughters, causing gender imbalance for every 6 girls there are 7 boys. How will those people get married, do you think tiny Vietnam will provide mail order brides for all the single men when they grew up to marriage age? Do you think the world can simply provide 100 million brides for Chinese stupidity? One in 5 Chinese men will never find a wife, they'll forever be lonely losers drinking and smoking crap and taking meth on the side.
It's depressing to even talk about it. Not to mention the shrinking work force that will manifest in 20 years from now. You people will be forced to work till the age of 80 and no pension or retirement.
Beijing has 0.7 fertility rate, 1/3rd of replacement levels. You people are fucked, probably even more than the west. At least the whites can blame the international cartel, but you people will forever blame someone else for your manufactured demise.
Open your eyes for a second, look around you, what do you see? Is this the world you want to live in? Death and decay everywhere? How many of your countrymen flee? There are hundreds in my district, working at restaurants, fleeing from China.
I don't have to be in China to know how messed up your country is. Chinese immigrants tell me a different story.

It's sad to see that Winston has such an archaic view on drugs (in my opinion), but I understand since he's from South Africa. Here in America there are scientists doing research to see if LSD can be used to cure anxiety, PTSD, and cluster headaches. Drugs can be used for good and bad and it should be taken into account. The same drug that you're given to get rid of agonizing pain is also the drug that can control your life and make you steal from your family. I enjoyed the video though guys, keep it up!

For trafficking drugs? Hell yes. I would make them public executions too.
Cartels, and the street gangs that work for them, largely get their profits from drugs. And they are pretty much the most harmful groups of people on earth, beaten really only by militaries which wantonly drone strike people and invade where they are not wanted. Even terrorist organizations are not as harmful as cartels and their gangs. So yeah, it should be very harsh for drug traffickers including marijuana because it fuels the same criminal organizations as opium or other substances. It should be a capital punishment like it is for murder.

Apparently not, China doesn't seem to think so, nor the Philippeans, nor many other countries.

I don't value the opinions of countries that willingly slaughter their own citizens due to a disease out of their control. Do they also give the death penalty/harsh time to lung cancer victims from smoking? Or people that have damaged livers from drinking? Addiction is a disease.

      Disease my butt.
First of all an addict chose to be addicted. Nobody sat there with a gun and made them start taking drugs or alcohol. They willingly accept it, and as far as I am concerned that removes 100% of the sympathy they should get. Why should someone get sympathy for willingly disabling themselves. Doesn't matter if its drugs or alcohol, I would go even one step further and say everything that an addicted person does while high/drunk should be viewed as if they had done it while sober. Willingly blurring your mental capacity shouldn't be an excuse to do harm.
Secondly, these laws are not about people who are addicted, they are about traffickers, who are not 'diseased'. Who create virtually all of the gangs in any country they are in (gangs get their profits from drug sales), which in turns creates most of the gang violence, most of the human trafficking, most of the prostitution, a large chunk of the robberies and gun violence, and all of this helps fuel cartels that absolutely wreck the nations they are in, take a trip to elsalvador or gautemala or afghanistan and let me know if you think drug laws are too harsh in the US and similar places.
People who take said drugs are tacit supporters of that culture and those cartels. You can't buy Apple products and then claim to not be a supporter of Apple, same goes with drugs.

I have lived in Hunan China for 14 years teaching English. I left in 2017. There was this french guy with some connection in shanghai where I would get weed. I mean in Large quantities and he would sell it to foreigners. He got busted once by the cops but he got away by paying(bribing) them. He still lives there. I think money can save you in China.

Indonesia has s similar "zero tolerance" policy on all drugs, including marijuana, and it is not uncommon for tourists to buy drugs (pills, weed, speed, whatever) from a local, then retire to their hotel room, only to hear a knock on the door from a police squad.
Vietnam, OTOH, has a reputation as a place to buy weed easily, and the police will look the other way on small quantities.
I haven't bought weed in nearly 30 years, so this is based on what I've seen in my travels and read online.

It is actually prescribed by doctors for depression.
In larger doses it is an hallucinogen and can cause problems if used regularly.

I struggle with an opiate addiction and yeah; it sucks, like a lot. I do agree and see Winton's point of view. I've seen it growing up and then later on in life also have had the "Privilege" of experiencing it first hand. It just ruins everything; worse however, is that is hurts the people you consider cloesest in life.
That being said, however, I personally take a 'moral standing' (by lack of better term) closer to how C-Milk looks at things. Although while I don't hate drug users, I do have a lot more malice towards people who egg others into trying/using drugs ESPECIALLY hard drugs. I mean YOU KNOW how bad this thing is, YOU KNOW how fast things get out of hand, YOU KNOW that you're endangering another human beings life, and worst of all YOU KNOW all that f**ked up sh** but do it willingly.
Usually just to get another fix. That is what I hate, that's what really just makes me sad.
On a after note though, I've been a silent viewer for over 3 years now and I love the content; both here and Serpentza/laowhy86. I don't really comment or do much, (other than watch your great content of course.) but I felt like adding in my two cents I suppose haha.
Anyways, love the videos! Keep up the great work, can't wait for the videos to come!

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Although, I get what you're saying. That being said however; judging everyone who has dealt with drugs as being weak in character is sort of not really completely understanding the why & how people end up doing drugs (just my opinion of course).
Also I aready offered up my services to the military, they declined.
Huh, I misspelled closest too. Didn't catch that.

The only two drugs you can die from withdrawals from are both legal; Alcohol and benzodiazepines (Xanax or similar). Portugal has the best drug policy in the world, which is treatment over punishment. Alcohol prohibition didn't last long in the US because it did more much more harm than good, we can see that with other prohibited substances today as well (see: Cartels, gangs, drug impurities, fentanyl lacing, etc.).

This topic hits home to me since I recently started to use cannabis medically (like, real medical, not the pseudo-medical like so many in my area) as a replacement for high powered opiates for severe chronic pain control. Considering that here in Vancouver (west coast canada in case any aren't aware) I would say that at least 60% of all youth at least somewhat experiment with the stuff recreationally in highschool (I was a nerd, and even the majority of my nerd friends I later learned smoked quite often), I was something of an oddity, personally of the 'don't want anything screwing with my head / body' mindset. I admit I still looked down on it (although I've always been pro legalize since the enforcement costs balanced against the almost zero impact of said enforcement makes no sense economically) until I came unto serios auto-immune disease problems in my early twenties followed by numerous severe infections. I toom the opiates I wad prescribed, and before long I was stuck in a spiral of needing ever more doses, and dealing with ever more side effects. Dropping my dose of opiates even slightly was an unspeakably horrible experience, and after several years of suffering, I finally took the plunge into cannabis.
I am a bit ashamed that I used to look down on it; I admit that it is definitely something that is better avoided in younger people, as it's somewhat well known that most psychoactives can screw with developing brains, but I have to say pot shouldn't even be considered as in the same league as opiates. After starting the cannabis, within a week I was able to start dropping the opiate dose with minimal discomfort. If I have a day where I need to be fully coherent, I can just skip the pot and notice no ill effects or withdrawal of any kind. Even when I do take it, the effects on your body and mind are very small compared to the problems from opiates.
I definitely understand China's hesitance to allow such substances, but I think that as soon as the world stops seeing cannabis as a horrible demon likened to opium or methamphetamine, the sooner we can understand the actual benefits and overall reduce the harm. Great video as always, gents.

If someone of my health is considered even remotely as being needed for infantry duty, then we're reaaaaaally fucked. I come from a family with lots of service history, but I guarantee I'm near dead last on their list of ideal candidates. Battlefield of the future'll be cyberspace anyways, and the marines are overrated anyways (but don't tell them I said that plx)

Sigh, I'm not here to get into a youtube comment war, but I'll bite once more. We obviously have very different life experiences, and I am entirely sure I won't change your mind as you won't change mine. I'm also wary of the very real possibility you're trolling, but alas years of internet forum discussions leave anyone paranoid of this.
I'm not quite sure what you are referring to with the 'I have to be the one to do it' thing, but as I alluded to, had I not nearly died and spent nearly ten years in a constant battle just to not die, the chances are quite high I would have joined the Canadian Military as both sides of my family are chock full of military service. I don't ask anyone for anything, I do whatever I can manage to get by and my leisure consists mostly of living vicariously through the adventures of others on free services such as youtube (hence the channel). I literally am able to put about twenty dollars a month into my own entertainment and fun; the rest goes to food, my family's well being and shelter, and medicine. So I am not sure what to make of the 'I have to be the one to do "it" and not beg'. I vote. I do whatever I can to not impact negatively any others' lives. I'm not sure many who are 'clean' can say the same.
I understand the issue is emotional for many. I saw a number of very intelligent young people in high school end up considerably less intelligent due to cannabis. If I hadn't been in the scenario I am in, there's a good 90% chance I'd be saying and thinking exactly as you do, but alas I am stuck in a scenario where I had to choose between continuing to suffer and risk severe addiction with legal opiates, or try medical pot of somewhat dubious legality. I don't think anyone who hasn't been in such a situation or seen a close friend or family member in one will fully understand how uncomfortable and uneasy I was walking into a medical cannabis dispensary for the first time as someone who avoided the stuff like the plague for so many years. My point wasn't to say the cannabis is a wonderful harmless substance that gives you superpowers in order to rope young people into getting hooked, it was that keeping it illegal is doing literally nothing except increasing the profitability for those who seek to distribute it illegally and indeed the rates of use in most of north america (and increasingly the world) continue to rise despite more and more enforcement resources. I get that people emotionally see it as despicable, but being able to blame someone for doing something that was illegal isn't worth more and more people continuing to use it harmfully when young because it's just so profitable. Compared to opiates, which are legal, my point was (at least what I intended, maybe I didn't get it across well) the actual negative effects of cannabis, when taken safely (I take it in gel capsules with oil dissolved in coconut oil) and properly, the harm of cannabis isn't even in the same ballpark as opiates, alcohol, or even tobacco (from my own experience of course). The opiates caused far more trouble in my life, almost as many as they helped with, while my quality of life and ability to do positive things and support myself has improved dramatically with the cannabis while simultaneosly allowing me to drop most of my opiate dose, and keeping me out of hospital, saving our medical system money.
I know it will take a long time to change the minds of people, personally my family was as uneasy at the start of this as I was, and my best friend hates the stuff more than even you appear to, but my family now has completely had their minds changed, and even my best friend no longer flips out if I even mention it, as they've all seen the improvement it provided and noticed that if taken in moderation, the effects indeed don't cause you to become some weird other person or demon.
Again, I understand that other countries and communities and people are not ready to change the old normal, and I cannot be self-righteous enough to suggest that they are all wrong and I am right. As I said, any other life path for myself and I definitely wouldn't have ever used it, and only would have supported legalization because I've seen how poorly harsh enforcement works and I truly believe that decriminalizing it would lead to huge drops in abuse rates in the long term. My opinion has changed dramatically though, and in my personal experience, I feel the longer the current system goes on, the more net harm will be done. I don't expect to change your mind, you seem to feel strongly, but I do believe that were anyone to go through what I have, they would be insane to keep using increasingly huge amiunts of debillitating opiates given another option for treating severe chronic pain (which, I have learned, we as a race are amazingly very poor at, and have almost no other alternatives).

Here in Canada, provincial governments are introducing severe penalties for driving on weed. This is in anticipation of it becoming legal (it's already legal to grow up to 4 plants in your yard). It's security theatre. I've never heard of a high speed crash on weed. If anything, someone on weed is likely to be pulled over for driving too slowly. Myself, I like the weak stuff from when I was a kid. I would smoke a joint, laugh at everything for about an hour, have a sandwich, and done. It really should be in a different category from other drugs as it's a damn sight less harmful than alcohol.
