What a wonderful gift from Walter Salles (director) and Fernanda Torres (marvelous actress) to the world! ❤❤❤ This is definitely not only a Brazilian real story. It’s really a universal film and I’m sure it will become a classic! It touches on hard-to-talk-about themes like government repression and the lengths a wife and mother will go to survive and protect her family. It also explores how love is such a powerful force that survivors of catastrophes (accidental or not) can heal and recover-but not forget. It shows what life was like in the 1970s-a time when there was no internet or cell phones, kids played in the streets, and adult friends were much more connected, visiting each other often. It’s so sensitive, unique, brilliantly acted and directed - I loved it ❤!!!
I recently watched this movie on cinema and it left me on tears. The drama is so well written by Walter and beautifully performed by Fernanda, that it has the capacity to transmit to the audience the feeling of living in a military dictatorship that unfortunately many Brazilians have experienced in the 60's - 80's. I do hope it is awarded the so deserved Oscar next year
“I’m Still Here” is a profoundly moving film that transcends the boundaries of traditional storytelling. It captures the raw, unfiltered essence of self-discovery, vulnerability, and the search for meaning in a chaotic world. The journey it portrays is one of resilience and reinvention, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is beauty in authenticity. It’s not just a film-it’s a testament to the human spirit, challenging us to embrace our imperfections and keep pushing forward, no matter how lost we may feel. A bold, unforgettable masterpiece. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

What a fantastic film! Based on a true and very sad story! It's really worth watching it! I'm proud of Brazilian films, but this one was unbelievable!!! Just prepare yourself to cry from beginning to end!!!😢 Fernanda Torres deserves the 2025 Oscar!!
I watched the movie, people cheered standing at the end! It's an exciting movie, Walter makes you a part of this family, you smile with them, you suffer with them. Fernanda Torres does such a profound performance, she fully understood what Eunice was. For those of you who are not familiar with Brazil's history, the dictatorship was by far the darkest period in the country after colonization. Rubens was just 1 of the 30k more personnel who disappeared during that period, more than 30k families who suffered what his family suffered. Movie of the Year!
Hi, i think you are confusing the numbers here. I know because the 30k forcibly dissapeared is the number of missing people due to the militar dictatorship in Argentina. This can be a bit confusing. But most of the south american countries went through a militar dictatorship from about the 1960 to the 1980. They were all part of what is known as "Plan Condor". Now this number is so important because Argentina was the only country than years later judged their dictators and found them guilty. This trials went on to uncover the magnitude of the disappearances. It discoverd hundreds of centers made to abduct and dissapear people. Brasil and other countries like Chile, Bolivia and more didnt have this. So they dont really have an accurate number because no one made an investigation. In argentina entire families were abducted, so no one was left to denounce it.
@afgusti4269 That number is just an estimate, there is nothing official, unfortunately it was 21 years of dictatorship, and all the military involved, were pardoned under the amnesty law. This caused all this information to be destroyed and hidden. President Dilma Rousseff, in 2012, established a commission to investigate these crimes (yes, they were never investigated) and many documents were discovered, including evidence that Rubens was arrested and tortured. But Dilma suffered a coup, and the commission cannot complete its objectives. The reality is that the truth was taken away and hidden. I believe there were many more than 30k people, many indigenous communities suffered during this period, Eunice dedicated part of her life to helping these communities go after justice.
@afgusti4269 This number is just an estimate, there is no data that proves the exact amount. But it is believed that there were more than 30k, many indigenous communities also suffered. Brazil is a continental country, it has been 21 years of dictatorship throughout the country.
I felt so moved and deeply touched to see our history been so beautifully represented by Walter Salles and Fernanda Torres along with all cast! This is the most powerful way to show our potentials to the world and to show everyone this sad moment we’re still struggling with in Brazil! The shadows this dark period of time have casted on us will haunt us for decades to come! PLEASE WATCH THIS MASTERPIECE!
We want Best Actress for Fernanda Torres, Best Film and Best International Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Selton. The Academy of Oscars owes us this, and the film is simply perfect in everything it proposes.
I’m Brazilian, but if I could ask for one thing, it would be: give this movie a chance. It’s not just a masterpiece of Brazilian cinema, it’s a reminder of a time that can never be repeated, but which the world lives under constant threat of. Recently, Brazil also had to face the ghost and the threats of an authoritarian government. It’s for us to never forget. So it never happens again. May Brazilian history echo in the name of those who suffered under the military regime.
I watched the movie some days ago, and when there was a silence in the theater you could hear the audience crying. It is one of the best Brazilian movies, she was perfect as Eunice and I think this movie was released in the right moment when Brazil flirted with dictatorship
Mesmerising, if you are an appreciator of world cinema, as well as learning more about historical events hitting different parts of the globe, and outstanding acting throughout. Then this film is also for you. Seeing the great Fernanda Montenegro at the end was nothing short then extraordinary, and such a treat !
A must-watch for film enthusiasts worldwide. The haunting shadows reminded me Clint Eastwood's recent movies where oppressive government agents crush individual freedom. However, this powerful drama sheds light not on authoritarian bureaucracy, but on the violent era of Brazil's military dictatorship in the 1970s, revealing the horrors that lie beneath. Fernanda Torres delivers a tour-de-force performance, solidifying her position as the year's standout actress.
This film is the perfect portrait of the barbarism that Brazil has lived during the extreme-right's dictatorship from 1964 to 1985, from a family's perspective. Wherever you are in the world, watch this masterpiece and fight to not let this kind of horror happen again. Fernanda Montenegro should have won the Oscar in 99, and now her daughter is here. Don't you dare deny this prize to this groundbreaking actress. But if you do, she has already won to us.
Fernanda Torres (born 15 September 1965) is a Brazilian film, stage and television actress and writer. She was born in Rio de Janeiro, and is the daughter of the actress Fernanda Montenegro and the actor Fernando Torres. Throughout her career, Fernanda has received numerous awards, including Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for Love Me Forever or Never. For her critically acclaimed performance in the drama film I'm Still Here (2024), Torres has won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards and the Critics Choice Awards for Best Actress - International Film. For I'm Still Here, she is currently also nominated for the Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama.
I wish I could watch this film, but just the trailer makes me cry. I don't think I can take it. As a Brazilian growing up in the 70s, I know what our country went through then. I'm blessed for not having lost anyone back then, but I know the history.

What a fantastic film! Based on a true and very sad story! It's really worth watching it! I'm proud of Brazilian films, but this one was unbelievable!!! Just prepare yourself to cry from beginning to end!!!😢 Fernanda Torres deserves the 2025 Oscar!!
The international trailer says more than the Brazillian one. Regardless, the movie is a must for everyone. Just saw it yesterday. Oscar, please

Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama (Fernanda Torres) ❤️🇧🇷
Best film of the year
I watched the movie, people cheered standing at the end!
Withou a doubt, this is the best movie of the year
Quero queimar minha língua. Mas, todos sabemos como funciona o Oscar. Da minha parte não faltará esperança de uma premiação justa.
best picture of the year! FERNANDA TORRES BEST ACTRESS!!
I'm brazilian and I am very proud of this masterpiece. Great movie!
Fernanda Torres ESPLÊNDIDA!!!!
Fernanda Torres was the youngest actress to win the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1986, at just 20 years old.
We want Best Actress for Fernanda Torres, Best Film and Best International Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Selton. The Academy of Oscars owes us this, and the film is simply perfect in everything it proposes.
a Oscar winner Fernada Torres
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Sim, eu sorri demais vendo você recebendo o prêmio, Fernanda Torres. ❤
I wish I could watch this film, but just the trailer makes me cry. I don't think I can take it. As a Brazilian growing up in the 70s, I know what our country went through then. I'm blessed for not having lost anyone back then, but I know the history.
Globo de ouro para Fernandinha! Parabens a essa atris talentosa demais! Parabéns ao cinema brasileiro! 😊❤️ Ditadura nunca mais.

We arrived in Brazil 🇧🇷, São Paulo specifically in 1974 shortly after I was born where my parents lived and worked for 4 years before returning to the US then being reassigned to Portugal. I have vague memories of Brazil in the 70s being just a small boy back then
nice movie. Goooooo Brazill !! Gooo Fernanda Torres !!!
The Oscar for best actress deserves to go to Fernanda Torres
Me emocionei no filme e continuo me emocionando com as cenas deste trailer. Chega dessa violência, nosso país merece o amor que temos em nosso coração! Obrigada Waltinho! Nós vamos sorrir!!! Sorriam!!!
Finally the world will know our story. This is Brasil's best cinema making. Please, enjoy. Nós vamos sorrir!
