If there was ever a guitarist to really study, John Petrucci of Dream Theater would be near the top (he was actually just named the top Prog guitarist by MusicRadar in the past week). Pull Me Under is a relatively tame song by Dream Theater standards. If you like time signature changes, the Dance of Eternity has just over 100 time signature changes in about 6.5 minutes. However that song can be a little difficult to digest. Other Dream Theater songs that are in Guitar Hero / Rock Band video games are Panic Attack (Rock Band 2), Metropolis Pt 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper (Rock Band 4), Constant Motion (DLC), and On The Backs of Angels (DLC) in case you want to check those out. However if you want another good one that heavily features the guitar, I would recommend Breaking All Illusions. Some other great tracks to check out other than the previously mentioned ones would be Octavarium, A Change of Seasons, The Count of Tuscany, Learning to Live, and The Glass Prison. There's a lot of really good songs on the Metropolis Pt 2: Scenes From a Memory album, but it's a concept album and you'll lose some of the lyrical meaning if you listen to them individually. So a full listen from beginning to end is always a good idea.
This is a good album to start with as an intro to Dream Theater. Please check out the rest of it. This is one of the most monumental albums ever recorded. It changed my life. Please check out Metropolis Part 1 and Learning to Live next. Thank you!!
The song that made Dream Theater famous! Z-Rock played the hell out of this back in the day. (Though they did play other tracks from the Images and Words album) John Petrucci was playing Ibanez guitars back then. Now he plays his own signature models from Ernie Ball Music Man, which are awesome instruments by any measure. Yes, you will find a lot of time signature changes in Dream Theater songs. The Dance of Eternity has 128 time signature changes.
One of my very favorite and inspirational bands! As a drummer it just blows me away! I am constantly inspired be them and they are fantastic live! Have seen them three times and with both drummers and they NEVER disappoint!
You should react to Liquid Tension Experiment - when the water breaks or paradigm shift. All the members of Dream Theater except no vocals and bass player is different. Be prepared to be in awe.
I know it was a mistake, just, it was a really cool one. Maybe repeat it once in a while, preferably when Floor goes for the siren voice... A green jumper wouldn't be too horrible, face and hands only 🤣
I literally just posted this on another channel so copy and paste. LOL. God, this song came out before many of your fans were born. Dream Theater should always be done live. Just to see their immense talent. Just about every song they have is live as they made a lot of dvds so plenty of material. Dream Theater is probably the biggest band no one has ever heard of. They are huge in Japan and parts of Europe and South America but most of their members, The guitar player, the bassist and the original drummer were born on Long Island around 40 minutes east of me and the drummer just south of me. Irornically they formed when the bassist and guitarist(childhood friends from the same town) met the drummer when they went to Berkly school of music. I say ironic becuase the three of them all lived on Long Island and they never met the drummer before that. The founding memebers are the guitarist and the original drummer who left the band about 7 or 8 years ago. They have been around since 1988 and have like 15 studio albums and numerous live dvds. They are consdidered the number one progressive rock band today and are known for their musically complicated songs and immense talent. Many of their songs have to do with their own personal experiences. It's hard to say which songs to recomend because they have so many good songs if your into this type of music. This particular song would be on the middle of the road scale for them as far as being complicated and intense. They have mellower songs and they do mellow very well. But they have many more fast songs too that they do even better than mello generally speaking.
I really enjoy your reactions, especially your perspective as a multi-instrumentalist! I've seen all your Nightwish and Rush reactions, and a few others. I've seen a mention for Octavarium, which is a good choice. If you want heavier Dream Theater, "As I Am", and "The Glass Prison" are good choices. "Honor Thy Father" is a good heavy choice that doesn't get many reactions. But you can't really go too wrong with Dream Theater. Fans are very divided on certain albums, but I really like them all.
Please give opinions here!!
Thank you 🤘🤘

Pull me under is a pop metal song.
Our man's face is all happy all the way through.

Dream Theater - The Best of Times. Written by their ex-drummer to his dying father. Epic guitar solo at the end.
DT is one of the all time greats!!!👍🏻🤟🏻

peccatumDei KKZR out of Houston was my Z-Rock affiliate. That station turned me on to so many great bands. Dave Bolt and Sharkman were awesome.
@@bradsteed6833 I was living in Dallas at the time, so I got the home station, KZRK.

This makes me wanna hear Hall Of The Mountain King by Savatage! I think I bought both those albums the same day,.. one always brings back the other.
Beyond This Life. An excellent song on which to sharpen your chops.

Mike Pourtney on drums is one of the best.. yes he changes time signatures often to odd times and back frequently.

tnks from brazil DT is domain
Love that you could actually keep your silence...most people talk too much missing many part
I actually think it looks cool with you wearing a green shirt. You're part of the background. Looks good.
Reminds me of Triumph
1st view. Dream Theater's only hit song IIRC. Despite all of the great music they have put out.
Greatest hit
This is not Petrucci's highest level.
Try Dance of Eternity or Stream of Consciousness live version at Budokan.
Pull me under is JP warming up for his warm-up
Question: do you like Hamlet?
I'd say Glass Prison is a good introductory song for them.
Pls react to Constantine - The darkest grace, an unknown prog masterpiece.

Stop with Octavarium suggestions!lol It is terrible for a newbie with DT.....

Glass prison
The whole Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence song was an emotional journey.
Edit out the Tool f'up. No bueno.
