- When it was launched locally late in 2022, the all-new 2023 Honda BR-V was one of the most anticipated releases not just in its segment but also in the car industry as a whole. Filipino car buyers love their seven-seaters, and the BR-V has built its reputation on being a subcompact seven-seat SUV with reasonable performance, a comfortable interior, and decent build quality.
We did a first drive feature on the latest-gen BR-V a while back, but here we have a more in-depth review of the 2023 Honda BR-V VX, the model’s top-spec variant equipped with Honda Sensing. Watch the video above if you’re considering this people-hauler for your next ride, and let us know in the comments what you want us to review next.

for a start, you didn't mention Honda Sensing which is the selling point of its price point and against its competitors at the same price segment. Most of all, it's the most powerful in its class while others would range at more or less 105 horses vs its 119hp, doesn't sound a lot but when you start people-hauling up the mountains or overtaking in the highways that would really differ.
Totally agree with tactile controls. The trend towards slapping giant ipads on the center console needs to die.
Maganda dito maliit tingnan pero maluwang ang loob kahit 3rd row ,honda magic
best 7-seater for me especially with the addition of honda sensing
That weird stuff you said @8:43 is the tonneau cover. A feature that could make the trunk space and folded seat level and flat.
Nice review sir. Plan to buy soon this car.
The back seat protector is a separate accessory that has to be bought separately
No mention/review of the honda sensing?
Honda all the way! 😊 getting to order soon! 🚙🚗
Rear wheel drive po ba si BRV sir?
Nice review Sir, though if I may ask for your own liking which do you prefer is it this BRV-VX or the SG-X as an overall pick? :D
No mention of Honda Sensing or ADAS in this review. One con for me is the absence of brake hold and electronic parking brake. At 1.4M price point this should be a standard
I dont know why car reviewers say that the BRV has tons of space, when in fact it's the most claustrophobic of all MPVs.
I am 5'9" and owns a 2nd gen Celerio. Being in a BRV doesn't feel like an upgrade over the smaller car I own in terms of space. Yes it is wider from the exterior, but the door cards are so huge and eats up all the space that you are still elbow to elbow with the person on the passenger seat. Not to mention the lower (sedan-like) roofline.
I agree with this comments the roofline is almost with sedan type, it's very short imagine 1685 in heights
It's not like its competitors. I've tried the Rush, Suzuki XL7, and Stargazer, and I have to say that the BRV has the most space in the third row. I'm 5'8" and I can sit comfortably in the third row
I'm a 6'1 and i have no problems with the headroom, I wish the seats can be lower more.. it does have a good space on the 2nd row, on the 3rd it is good for the kids
Red color is available on that unit?
Is it really underpower? If you are to decide sir what would you choose? BR-V VX or HR-V S?
Best 7 seater among its competition.
Forever in our hearts?
Honda lover here, but this new model is not even worth the upgrade from It’s previous model.
10 to 15 years earlier, it was easy to brush aside the Chinese cars as practically the difference between them from the Japanese or European makes was night and day. Now that gap is closing faster than expected and the traditional auto players better shape up in terms of what they can offer to the PH market which they normally do with stripped down models compared to what the international markets have and yet still charge a fairly high price because Filipinos had very little choices back then.
feature wise yes but not reliability. Japanese car brands have proven themselves for decades already and Chinese car brands are yet to prove themselves.
i'd still take a japanese car over a chinese brand any given day. can't trust those unreliable brands.
Naaahh Jap cars are alright. Chinese make still sucks specially on automotives.
Id rather buy the Changan CS55plus or GAC Emkoo.
Ito sana main choice for this 2023 but then the new ford territory came into market truly next gen tech compared dito
Do the steering wheel controls have illuminating lights?
No it doesn't unfortunately
@@haven8917 thank you sirz
Only the VX variant has
Good design hybrid OR ?
Space is just similar with the rest of its competitors, tho good thing you've mentioned that the second row was already moved forward when the unit was given so in a future comparo, you'll need to move each 2nd row a bit forward for fair comparo for 2nd & 3rd row space.
Also, afaik the rear boot area has adustable cargo floor so if a flat load floor is needed, it can be achieved. But yes not as flat as what you'll find in an Xpander, Ertiga or Stargazer.
A good review overall and surely another sneak preview of a comparo cooking up soon? And I hope by then there will already be cons for the BRV since we all know there are some notable ones, the lack of telescopic steering to name one.
It's not like its competitors. I've tried the Rush, Suzuki XL7, and Stargazer, and I have to say that the BRV has the most space in the third row. I'm 5'8" and I can sit comfortably in the third row
@Jay Felix 5'8 as well and I sit pretty decent on almost every competitor..
... granted di ako basta umupo lang sa likod at sinabi "uy ang luwag/sikip!". Ofc I made sure the 2nd row seata was adjusted properly to fit humans in the 3rd row but yes, 2nd row space is not as ideal anymore in some of these subcompact MPV's, including the BRV.
Looks big picture pero sa personal maliit lang pala
Prices of cars have increased by leaps and bound. Some by 50% from their previous models but the specs specially the engines haven't really been upgraded. Are we being shortchanged or is it just the result of inflation brought about by reckless borrowing and spending of governments?
What's with all these Baguio difficulties.. lol
mas malaki ba to kaysa xpander o mas maliit?
mas may leg room ang third row compared kay xpander. which is a win for those na may passengers lagi sa 3rd row. Sa xpander adults can't fit.
Ok na sana kaso walang cup holder sa likod??
All rows have cup holders po, dalawa sa pinaka-likod sa magkabilaang side ng seats, dalawa sa second row, also at the doors, and apat sa harap.
Back in the day when you hear Japan, you'd feel like it is the future of modern technology but nowadays they're not keeping up with this reputation. Their car designs are outdated. Look at Kia, Chery, Ford, and more. You can't compare anymore. Looks like Honda and even the giant Toyota is stuck in the past.
those chinese cars are trash lmao. unreliable and easily breaks 😂 plus the resale value is low. buying one is like throwing money away.
2 12V sockets? 3SM siguro battery nya... 7500 pesos battery nyan
Get the Ford Territory Titanium instead of this.
You really wont be utilizing its 3rd row seats since you cant fit 2 adults in it plus power is not really going to feel an upgrade. 1.5 Turbo will eat the 1.5 NA fpr breakfast plus you get a very upmarket looking car vs this. Honda sense not a big thing as long as I have airbags and seatbelts im all good for basic safety.
I have a Honda brv prestige
2024 and it won't start
Make it as large as an American Cadillac , put a Honda V8 inside , drop the lame name lettering and change it to be known as the "Honda prelude"
"Cadillac escalade" sounds nice , "Lincoln continental " also sounds nice , " Toyota Sequoia " is a personal favorite for good looking car . For a nice looking Honda or acura- what is MDX /RDX and What is BRV ?!? 😫☹
Is might be just me, but the Japanese cars are offering less for more money.
@@vrja you maybe right, but still haven't seen a Japanese brand offer 10 year warranty on their powertrain
Not when it comes to quality
@VR JA here we comes with "RELIABLE" trump card of Japanese car believer, pay more get less but hey atleast we got the "RELIABLE" car
@VR JA peace of mind with extra pieces of cash needed 👍👍
@@harbilito4910That "extra" money will be saved in the future because you'd be needing to fix your vehicle for far less often than if you were to "save some cash now" with other options.
1.4 million pesos and you only get 121 ps?
Because others at 1.3M with 105 Hp are better, right????
Like Done Host😅😅😅
Not a fan of seven seater in a compact SUV.
They kind of forced the issue IMHO.
It could've been a spacious 5 seater subcompact crossover. Nevertheless, looking at the good side of it, if you happen to need more seats for a family outing, there's that 3rd row as an option. Although cargo space would be insufficient if that's the case. That would mean people on board will have backpacks on their laps for the rest of the ride. For a family of 3 or 4. It's ample space. But for a 7 seater? Livina/xpander/stargazer will offer better space. Having that said, I feel that this BRV gets the job done fairly well in all aspects. Engine/handling/ground clearance/reliability/classic touches in terms of design both exterior and interior. However, I think getting the top variant with that SENSING will be a less ideal and practical choice than the next lower variant. Everything it has basically the lower variant has except the SENSING which in my opinion isn't that all worth for the extra P100,000+ (not to mention the extra P20,000 if you opt for the WHITE).
Dont buy this. masyadong masikip. walang improvement. same ng dating brv. mas ok pa ung veloz kahit medyo mahina makina
True!
even lang sila ni veloz, kahit maluwag hirap din makina sa bigat ng katawan. both models are not worth buying.
Yeah right guys, please do not buy this. Go get those Chinese, Korean, and American cars instead, which would require visiting casa to get something fixed more often instead. We need to keep these brands gaining profit, so yes, please don't buy this reliable car from this very reliable brand. Please don't.
@@troy5568 evrything you said is true except for the chinese car. Unreliable
haha @8:44
Kulang sa research yung nag review ayaw ata manood ng video ng iba. Hehe
Lol only 12km/LThey advertised this POS as 24km/L
The fuel efficiency of 23km/L that they are referring to is for highway driving. 12km/L is for city driving.
Japanese cars are now looking cheaply made compared to Chinese cars, I hope they’d do drastic changes with their strategy in the coming years but for now I’d definitely buy one of these Chinese cars.
those chinese cars are trash lmao. unreliable and easily breaks 😂 plus the resale value is low. buying one is like throwing money away.
@@NiPpuL are you living in a rock? these Chinese car companies are the same groups that manufacture Japanese cars in China through joint Venture. Now, the manufacturing technology of Japan has been transferred already to the Chinese, not to mention the Europeans cars they own and manufacture too. The Chinese is taking over the cad industry and it’s taking place right now, this is happening globally not just in our country. If you’re young enough, you may probably buying a few more cars in your life time and you’re gonna eat your own words. 😅
@@NiPpuL here we comes with "RELIABLE" trump card of Japanese car believer, pay more get less but hey atleast we got the "RELIABLE" car. PANIS JAP BRANDS NYO SA GEELY, MG AND CHERY
It's WHAT? this is a 1.4m car? lol
