  • When it was launched locally late in 2022, the all-new 2023 Honda BR-V was one of the most anticipated releases not just in its segment but also in the car industry as a whole. Filipino car buyers love their seven-seaters, and the BR-V has built its reputation on being a subcompact seven-seat SUV with reasonable performance, a comfortable interior, and decent build quality.
    We did a first drive feature on the latest-gen BR-V a while back, but here we have a more in-depth review of the 2023 Honda BR-V VX, the model’s top-spec variant equipped with Honda Sensing. Watch the video above if you’re considering this people-hauler for your next ride, and let us know in the comments what you want us to review next.

    for a start, you didn't mention Honda Sensing which is the selling point of its price point and against its competitors at the same price segment. Most of all, it's the most powerful in its class while others would range at more or less 105 horses vs its 119hp, doesn't sound a lot but when you start people-hauling up the mountains or overtaking in the highways that would really differ.

    No mention of Honda Sensing or ADAS in this review. One con for me is the absence of brake hold and electronic parking brake. At 1.4M price point this should be a standard

    I dont know why car reviewers say that the BRV has tons of space, when in fact it's the most claustrophobic of all MPVs.
    I am 5'9" and owns a 2nd gen Celerio. Being in a BRV doesn't feel like an upgrade over the smaller car I own in terms of space. Yes it is wider from the exterior, but the door cards are so huge and eats up all the space that you are still elbow to elbow with the person on the passenger seat. Not to mention the lower (sedan-like) roofline.

    • @marvintasi5887
      @marvintasi5887 Год назад

      I agree with this comments the roofline is almost with sedan type, it's very short imagine 1685 in heights

      It's not like its competitors. I've tried the Rush, Suzuki XL7, and Stargazer, and I have to say that the BRV has the most space in the third row. I'm 5'8" and I can sit comfortably in the third row

      I'm a 6'1 and i have no problems with the headroom, I wish the seats can be lower more.. it does have a good space on the 2nd row, on the 3rd it is good for the kids

    10 to 15 years earlier, it was easy to brush aside the Chinese cars as practically the difference between them from the Japanese or European makes was night and day. Now that gap is closing faster than expected and the traditional auto players better shape up in terms of what they can offer to the PH market which they normally do with stripped down models compared to what the international markets have and yet still charge a fairly high price because Filipinos had very little choices back then.

    Space is just similar with the rest of its competitors, tho good thing you've mentioned that the second row was already moved forward when the unit was given so in a future comparo, you'll need to move each 2nd row a bit forward for fair comparo for 2nd & 3rd row space.
    Also, afaik the rear boot area has adustable cargo floor so if a flat load floor is needed, it can be achieved. But yes not as flat as what you'll find in an Xpander, Ertiga or Stargazer.
    A good review overall and surely another sneak preview of a comparo cooking up soon? And I hope by then there will already be cons for the BRV since we all know there are some notable ones, the lack of telescopic steering to name one.

      @Jay Felix 5'8 as well and I sit pretty decent on almost every competitor..
      ... granted di ako basta umupo lang sa likod at sinabi "uy ang luwag/sikip!". Ofc I made sure the 2nd row seata was adjusted properly to fit humans in the 3rd row but yes, 2nd row space is not as ideal anymore in some of these subcompact MPV's, including the BRV.

    Back in the day when you hear Japan, you'd feel like it is the future of modern technology but nowadays they're not keeping up with this reputation. Their car designs are outdated. Look at Kia, Chery, Ford, and more. You can't compare anymore. Looks like Honda and even the giant Toyota is stuck in the past.

    Get the Ford Territory Titanium instead of this.
    You really wont be utilizing its 3rd row seats since you cant fit 2 adults in it plus power is not really going to feel an upgrade. 1.5 Turbo will eat the 1.5 NA fpr breakfast plus you get a very upmarket looking car vs this. Honda sense not a big thing as long as I have airbags and seatbelts im all good for basic safety.

    Not a fan of seven seater in a compact SUV.

    • @OuiAsk
      @OuiAsk Год назад

      They kind of forced the issue IMHO.
      It could've been a spacious 5 seater subcompact crossover. Nevertheless, looking at the good side of it, if you happen to need more seats for a family outing, there's that 3rd row as an option. Although cargo space would be insufficient if that's the case. That would mean people on board will have backpacks on their laps for the rest of the ride. For a family of 3 or 4. It's ample space. But for a 7 seater? Livina/xpander/stargazer will offer better space. Having that said, I feel that this BRV gets the job done fairly well in all aspects. Engine/handling/ground clearance/reliability/classic touches in terms of design both exterior and interior. However, I think getting the top variant with that SENSING will be a less ideal and practical choice than the next lower variant. Everything it has basically the lower variant has except the SENSING which in my opinion isn't that all worth for the extra P100,000+ (not to mention the extra P20,000 if you opt for the WHITE).
