I think you've the prettiest vintage 182 Skylane of all. Really liked following the procedures on the instrument panel with running commentary, and Kevin's ATC commentary. Only complaint is the time went by so fast! Very nice!
Great piece of advice Kevin on traffic on TCAS/ACAS. A controller has to definitively identify each aircraft that he/she controls. A pilot has not followed the rigorous traffic ident process required by a controller (nor should they) therefore the controller cannot be certain that the traffic a pilot is referring to is the right item of traffic so therefore cannot provide separation on that basis
I just love your new dash, very nice. Nothing better than flying a classic, well maybe a new G700. Great landing Mindy, right on the centerline. Thanks for the ride.
Regarding traffic seen on the PFD, the NATCA presenter at Oshkosh stated that reply, while not acceptable by the regs, still gives the controller some relief because he knows you are aware of the traffic.
Love you guys! I'm still loving the new panel, too. Bird strikes are not joke. You were very fortunate not to have damage. I flew my plane solo to visit my mom for Thanksgiving. (Usually fly with friends, so solo flight is a nice change.) 2.5+ hour drive turned into a 45 minute flight full of fun and joy! Love owning a plane. Happy Holidays to you both!
Welcome back Mojo, it has been quite a while and you are still looking mighty fine👌Fantastic video guys👍That bird strike must have been so scary, I'm glad it had a good ending!
I have to say there is some really good info shared here. I will though go back in time to November 19 1996 to KUIN. Great Lakes Airlines Flight 5925. Fatal accident killing 14 people. A beech 1900 on approach collided with a departing king air 90 departing crossing runway. Cherokee 140 on ramp calls on radio they are taxing to runway and holding short. The cherokee transmitted over the king air. 1900 crew thought they heard the 90 call holding. Seconds later they collided. I was 11 years old when this accident occurred. 5 years later I started flying. 7 years after I met the first person on scene to the accident. 9 years later i graduated A&P school. 11 years later i met the x husband of the king air pilot 13 years later I became a mx controller for great lakes airlines. I learned details of the accident i wont go into. 23 years later i work beside a mechanic that maintained the king air 90. This accident has been a part of my flying career and mechanic career. This accident also put in to place the regulation requiring fire departments be on airport 30 min prior and after departure for 121 operations. 14 people lost there lives because someone was taxing to the runway from the ramp. A useless transmission that claimed lives and forever changed faa regulation. An accident that became the only accident that Great Lakes ever had involving a fatality. I will never forget that night. I will forget the people I have met and I will always point out that if your not crossing a runway or number one holding at the runway you do not talk unless its a matter of safety or required to keep two aircraft from going head on on a taxiway. May all that read this learn from it as that is my intent. Fly safe and hope to see you in the air
@@Schmiiindy I was wandering if you guys had moved. You’ll be missed in Georgia! Good luck in your new jobs! I departed Crystal River on Nov. 30th and saw the resident Coyote as I taxied to runway 27. Not a very shy fella. He was right on the taxi way center line and stayed there until I got pretty close and then casually walked to taxi way A2 and just stood there and stared at us. I guess he was posing as we took a picture of him. Any way, thanks for taking us along on your adventures. They have inspired us to go on our own! To Kevin, a big thank you for keeping us safe up there!!!
New subscriber (PPL training for CPL in Australia), I love your channel and your old plane. The upgrade is fantastic btw, I love how it sinks with your iPad. With what ATC can see, it’s funny they can only see GS. Even on my Plane Finder app, I can see GS and also IAS. I can also see some other cool stuff like altitude, selected altitude, heading, wind speed and direction, QNH set, OAT, transponder code, vertical speed, bank angle etc
While I was disappointed to see the vintage equipment go I DO like the new equipment you picked . If you live by the ocean the 182 should be corrsion coated inside the airframe . I recommend Corrsion X. Happy flying ,D
love iT Grt flying & Views fuel burn @ 14 gal an hour @ cruse of 126 Knots = about 145 mph so burns just over 10 mpg Wow if my math correct Happy Flying
I mindy and Kevin hope you are well and looking forward to Christmas. What a brilliant flight with a superb landing.and the weather was spot on for you.kevin just jump back in you will no if you have got it wrong it's just like driving a car you never forget.try doing some touch and goes on your landing pad Were you live.good luck with your practicing buddy phil.
Wish I could follow you back to Florida, unfortunately Middle Ga seems to be a permanent location. Sorry I missed you at Perry! Kevin, that was a really good tip, since the two midwest controllers are gone(?) anything you think is relevant will be appreciated.
Yes, but the AFD doesn't specify the clicks if I remember right. Just tells you that it is available. I find details on the comments section of ForeFlight and there is signage at the airport itself. Kind of hard to find the right info on it but is a unique wx service
He wears the Garmin watch D2 Mach 1. I wear the D2 Air :) The watches are like everyday smart watches (like your apple) with added aviation things! He also uses his watch for golfing, it has really neat features for that. We like them a lot
Was that taxiway poopa? Hmmm, controller on board and no flight following? I struck several birds on short final in the 150 I was flying during the first few hours of flight training. They hit the flaps, no damage.

Thank you so much!
Very nice flight, smooth. Wonderful scenery and thanks Kev for the ATC tips... toss those gems in when you can! Helps show you guys are human.
We are very human! It’s tough sometimes to show it over the frequency!
Nice flight, thanks for the ATC tips!
Happy Landings!

I loved the conversation at 10:25 ATC and pilots looking for traffic and seeing other aircraft for real. The Garmin magic is nice though.
Having a private plane in FL is a blessing. A lot of interesting places to go see but none of them are a fun drive. 😂
That is such a beautiful airplane and this was a great video to watch, so much cool info from a couple cool people! Thanks.
Thanks for taking me flying Captain Mindy
I really appreciate how you guys weave in educational bits and pieces into your very entertaining content. As always, excellent video! Happy Friday! 🥃
Just love when you're up flying
Love the new panel and your decision to keep round instruments. It helps keep give the panel the original look but with modern avionics features.
Great Video! Your husband needs his own site for Controller recommendations.
I just love your new dash, very nice. Nothing better than flying a classic, well maybe a new G700. Great landing Mindy, right on the centerline. Thanks for the ride.
Now with the new panel this bird looks slick inside and out 👌
Good to hear from you two.
It’s nice when controllers are nice ;-)
Regarding traffic seen on the PFD, the NATCA presenter at Oshkosh stated that reply, while not acceptable by the regs, still gives the controller some relief because he knows you are aware of the traffic.
The bird thing 😮 well useful
I got my license at apopka and tons of traffic and birds but I thought that was normal till I rented planes in seabring and there was neither of any.

Nice flight, Mindy. Always calm and on top of things! Kevin did a nice job with the "calls." 😀

Thank you! Yes. I think I left my stomach in the air the whole way till landing wondering if our plane had been severely damaged. Luckily not!
Good looking airplane and the panel is beautiful.
Thank you!!!
@@Schmiiindy Thank you for your content.
The 182 looks great.
I'm with you, got to have music, no matter what! So nice to see you guys up in MOJO again.....
Very nice 182!
Wow! You greased it!!!!🎉
Love the vids guys..I'm looking forward to my first flight to KCGC this year..

Nice panel...Great low level flight...Great commentary.
That was fun. Like you guys flying together. Seems like a strong relationship with a lot of mutual respect, but what do I know 👍

Love the paint scheme. My buddy showed me the very same plane years ago.

Ha I know! We moved states & each started new jobs! But we’re settling into all that and will be making more videos :)
@@Schmiiindy Looking forward to it.
Love to come out and fly mojo 😄
Great vlog as always. Did you say 14 gallons per hour? 64 litres? here in the UK...... that's expensive even for you guys
Yes- on a low and hot day!!
Welcome back to our great state of Florida. Question is the 3 clicks for weather in the supplement I'll guess?
Usually is 3-5-7 for lighting correct?
Yes, but the AFD doesn't specify the clicks if I remember right. Just tells you that it is available. I find details on the comments section of ForeFlight and there is signage at the airport itself. Kind of hard to find the right info on it but is a unique wx service
Is that a Garmin watch Kevin is wearing? If so what model? Wondering if I should transition from Apple Watch to Garmin Watch? TY. VY.

From the outside wing cam I just noticed just how far back Kevin has his seat! 😂
haha!! He is CHILLIN' :D
I’m comfortable! Hard not to be when schmiindy is at the controls
Well shot video! Did you move to FL?
We did! To the Orlando area
Y’all need to fly up to Virginia
Schmid are you recording your audio with the Nflight cord or through your Go Pro?
Through my go-pro audio cord :)
how Hi do most birds vr the Highest flying Birds
I go to Riddle and flew there once and haven't been back. Something about the narrow runway and the length sketch me out.
Was that taxiway poopa? Hmmm, controller on board and no flight following? I struck several birds on short final in the 150 I was flying during the first few hours of flight training. They hit the flaps, no damage.
Birds feel the same way about aircraft that squirrels do about cars - we were first, for millions of years, and what the hell is this thing?
Does your husband remember how to fly? 😂
Yes but no. No but yes. 😂 He’s gotta carve out some time to get back at it again.
@@Schmiiindy 😂 fair enough. I thought someone might be a yoke hog 😉😂😂
Nope. I’m just the one that studies and keeps up with my flying. He’s a big boy…he’s gotta put the work in himself too😁

14gph? That's a lot for a 182. 11+ is more like it.
Keep in mind we are at 2,500 on a hot day in Florida. Low & hot!! 😊 It’s exactly what our POH says we should be burning 😁
