Why all these comments about not having a money ball back in the day? When they first started the contest (in 1986), the money ball was there for at least the first three contests. Just watch Bird win the first three and you'll see they did indeed have a money ball.
Moneyball _racks_. They have a complete rack of moneyballs wherever the shooter wants, Curry hit less shots than the others on the list, but because of the moneyball rack he had a higher score.
+John Smith going into his last rack Curry has 19, hits 4, that adds to 23. Craig, Mark, & Kapono did not have the money ball rack, you cannot by any way convert their scores because you can't determine which rack they would pick as the money ball so you have to convert Curry's score. He may have the record In the current way they do the 3 point contest but Hodges still would hold the record at 25
Craig Hodges in 1991 is single handily the best performance in this competition. He obliterated the most consecutive makes record that hasn't even be threatened in all the years of this competition. I watched this live and the excitement of hitting the 19 in a row is one of the greatest moments in all of All-Star Weekends.
Okay, so I know the ladies use a smaller ball and shoot from slightly closer, but Sabrina hitting 20 in a row last night to break Craig's record definitely cements it for me as the greatest performance ever in the contest. I was 10 years old watching Craig do what he did, and I never forgot how excited and how special I felt watching that happen live, and I felt the same way last night.
How is steph Curry first? There wasn't no moneyball racks back then, and Craig made 21 out of 25 3 pointers. Curry only made 20 out of 25 threes. not to mention Craig made 19 CONSECUTIVE. This video.....
SICE1234 you disappoint me so much... I have no words to express how I feel other than YOU STUPID FUCKING SHITHEAD YOU HAVE NO VALUE ON EARTH YOU WASTE OF FUCKING SPACE
Loved to see Mark Price shoot. His form was always so smooth. One of the most underrated PG’s, definitely one of those PG’s in the 90’s that would fit perfect in today’s game because of his 3 point shooting.
@@leejoongiflores9415 Well I can changed the rules in my backyard and made the last rack count for 10 points each. I scored 34. Does that mean I'm the GOAT?
Hodges was a great shooter. I'll always remember those 80s 3pt shoot outs between him Dale Ellis and Larry Bird. I remember watching Bird win the first 3 ever in classic Bird dramatic style.
Although it would be pretty badass if next year a shooter refused the money ball rack and still won the competition. I bet Damian Lillard would do something like that
Zeno Shiyu Only the 94/95 season to the 96/97 season (3 seasons). The clips you see of Mark Price and Craig Hodges performances were before that when the 3 point line was the same as today.
bwink23 Really? That's cool, with MJ And Pippen they were strong, but they did have a lot of solid role players that made their championships possible. By the way back in the day Pippen was the only player in the playoffs to be top ten in all categories. No one else could touch that.
Steph curry performance wasn't that great and shouldn't be top 5. u are a bandwagon. that performance was with new rules and an entire rack of money balls.
Yeah I agree. Such major rule changes in competitive events is never a good idea, because it makes it more difficult to compare different eras. The 4+1 system was great and didn't need the stupid rule change. The 1 point balls challenged technique, and the money ball challenged pressure shots. WHY CHANGE A PERFECT SYSTEM?
I met Craig Hodges in 1991 at an basketball event at UIC. I made 30 3 pointers in a row. I was also blindfolded for the last 5. He said I was the greatest shooter he’d ever seen and I would make it to the nba at 16 if I really tried. So the next yr I decided to grow 14 inches and did. Just before the NBA combine I got a call from my dad. He said I had to return home and help with the farm. So I left
curry's 27 is different from that of the others... there's 1 rack that are all money ball they dont have that before. if you add up all shots made by curry in the old rule.. he only has 23. record was 25 by hodges and kapono.
I hate the fact they added the all money ball rack cuz it kinda ruins comparing to history but I mean if u count the money ball racks for one each klay Thompson would still have like 25 and shit
Money balls don't matter. Curry, Kapono and Price all missed 5 shots. Hodges missed only 4, so he still has the record if we just look at misses and makes.
Can't even make 1 when it mattered the most (game 7 closing mins). Handed legoat james with the goat status w that historic choke job of him and his boys.
There are no "money balls" in basketball 3 point shooting. This is artificial to allow a player that isn't shooting as well to possibly equal or exceed a player that is shooting better, if he can hit the bonus balls. This is silly and should be ignored by true shooting purists. Just counting by shots made, that's all that's really important, Craig scored 21 out of 25 shots made, Price and Kapono and Curry 20 out of 25, all 3 had equal performances in shooting proficiency.
John Craftenworth. Shooting is all about the calmness of the mind. When you know that one ball means more than the others, that chalanges your mental strength. Im fine with the money ball, but they shouldnt have made an all moneyball rack. Such a stupid decision imo.
Yes, one shot means more than all the others, and that is the 3 pointer, it's worth an extra point more than all the others. Frankly if you made the shot early in the game, then all things being equal, you won't HAVE to make it at the end of the game, except for corrupt refs point shaving and dredging up some artificial drama/trying to keep things close. A shot early in the game affects the scoreboard just as much as at the end, in a CLEAN LEAGUE
Larry Bird in 1988 has a strong case here. Bird was choking hard in the final round, until he got hot at the end, making 8 of 10 his last 2 racks including both money balls to win it on his final shot...giving his famous crooked finger point to the sky before he sank the contest winner....the clutchest moment in 3-point contest history.
I had a friend shoot 56 in a row various areas in three point land and stopped out of boredom and went for a layup instead. He said his shooting was on fire, but I had no clue.
Craig just lost his rhythm at the end. Why does this only have 24,952 views?!?! This is incredible why don't I know this guy. Can I get your autograph Chris it means more than Muhammed Ali to me that was just amazing i've never heard of you but I'm a white boy who dreams of getting that chance I went 20 for 20 one night this kid at Cushing (Ashburnham, MA ) can vouch he fed me all night. Send autograph to Matthew Brown, 29 Century Way, Gardner, MA 01440 this is amazing.
Curry really only got 23 ( I say really but it is a very good score). The guy at #2 had people rolling the next ball on the rack forward so he never had to reach back.. Leave it pro sports for make things easier for more scoring.
How could they rate Curry above Craig Hodges, when Curry hit 13 in a row and Craig Hodges hit 19 in a row. A lot of NBA teams need to put Craig Hodges on as a shooting coach. Listen up Lakers.
Calm down everyone, just count how many shots they made, hodges had the most with 21 when he scored 24, not sure how many he made in his 25 scoring round, but thats the most shots made ever
Shu Gao neither him or steph curry should be on the list. Their stats were padded with the new MONEY BALL RACK they did not make as many shots as the old players
Craig hodges was the best performance of all time. They didn't have moneyball racks back in the day
Why all these comments about not having a money ball back in the day? When they first started the contest (in 1986), the money ball was there for at least the first three contests. Just watch Bird win the first three and you'll see they did indeed have a money ball.

smokert5555 they have a RACK of moneyballs
Yes, yes, yes. Forget the dumb money balls. Craig Hodges hit 19 in a row and 21 out of 25 shots!!!! Nobody but Craig Hodges has done that.
The prettiest shooting form til this day.
Craig Hodges hit 19 in a row and 21 out of 25 shots!!!! Nobody but Craig Hodges has done that.
Curry's performance, compared to the others, totals a score of 23
Curry only missed 5 shots
Out of 25
+John Smith going into his last rack Curry has 19, hits 4, that adds to 23. +Garrison Kozlowski no like how many did hodgkins miss? Out of 25 fuck money balls
+John Smith his name is Craig Hodges
Craig Hodges' record-setting 19 made shots in a row is FANTASTIC!
How come Curry is # 1? He's using the new format where the total is 35, I think Hodges should be # 1.
The New Format since 2015 Is A Maximum Of 34 points. Hodges number 1
Craig Hodges performance should be number 1.

SICE1234 Yea they all had money balls to end every rack but Steph was the only one to have a rack FULL of them
SICE1234 you disappoint me so much... I have no words to express how I feel other than YOU STUPID FUCKING SHITHEAD YOU HAVE NO VALUE ON EARTH YOU WASTE OF FUCKING SPACE
Jalapeno1688 My bad yea you right I see it now, damn why they set it up like that
Calvin Lawlor lol
19 straight 🔥🔥🔥🏀🏀🏀 for Craig Hodges what a monster!
One of the purest forms you will ever see. Chicago here born in 1976. We loved C.H.
Hodges best performance ever..19 in a row..great :)
Loved to see Mark Price shoot. His form was always so smooth. One of the most underrated PG’s, definitely one of those PG’s in the 90’s that would fit perfect in today’s game because of his 3 point shooting.
Craig Hodges has the best performance out of anyone here. The rules changed with the Money Ball Rack.
Mark Price is underrated. People should talk about Mark Price more.
technically steph only had 23, so I guess the record is still 25
Sudeep Bagri thank u every body else did not have a full rack of money balls
Sudeep Bagri steph score of 27...
@@leejoongiflores9415 Well I can changed the rules in my backyard and made the last rack count for 10 points each.

“Only”

Craig Hodges was unbelievable in this contest
Craig Hodges best 3 point shooting performance BY A MILE! Don't get it twisted. If Curry or Klay can 20 in a row we can talk again about it.
You can't compare Curry's 3 point contest from others. It's a new rule. in 2015, you have a money ball rack in your choice.
Melchizedek John Bautista ya man however you do know that the 3 point line are further than the old days right so there's no comparison
The line was shorter for three seasons in the 90's before it was changed back.
Although it would be pretty badass if next year a shooter refused the money ball rack and still won the competition. I bet Damian Lillard would do something like that
Melchizedek John Bautista i

Only the 94/95 season to the 96/97 season (3 seasons). The clips you see of Mark Price and Craig Hodges performances were before that when the 3 point line was the same as today.
Hodges was the best because he hit 21 out of 25 shots and nobody has ever done that.
Mark Price was very underated
Timbo Slice Mark Price was a skillful player
his form was absolutely majestic
Kapono and hodges got it, back then ain't no money rack
And Mark Price
Back in the day when the Bulls dominated they always had a good shooter like Paxson, Hodges, Armstrong, and Kerr.
MrKydaman Yes but they rarely shot 3's. In fact Michael Jordan led the team in 3-pointers made from 1991 to 1993 in the playoffs.
bwink23
Really? That's cool, with MJ And Pippen they were strong, but they did have a lot of solid role players that made their championships possible. By the way back in the day Pippen was the only player in the playoffs to be top ten in all categories. No one else could touch that.
Mark Price was a machine.
Steph curry performance wasn't that great and shouldn't be top 5. u are a bandwagon. that performance was with new rules and an entire rack of money balls.
Curry and Kapono both missed 5 shots, Hodges missed only 4. So Curry still performed damn well.
HumanBeing yeah, but he shouldn’t be number one to be fair 👍🏼
Yeah I agree. Such major rule changes in competitive events is never a good idea, because it makes it more difficult to compare different eras. The 4+1 system was great and didn't need the stupid rule change.
The 1 point balls challenged technique, and the money ball challenged pressure shots. WHY CHANGE A PERFECT SYSTEM?
Same thing with bird he had 23 or 24 multiple times with no money rack. Craig and all them boys could’ve got 30 with a money all rack
No money ball.
1. Craig Hodges 21/25
2. Mark Price, Jason Kapono, Step Curry 20/25.
That sucks. How’s the farm
Cool story, Glenn.
Price missed 5 shots
Hodges missed 4 shots
Kapono missed 5 shots
Curry missed 5 shots
Hodges is the best accomplishment and it's not close. 19 in a row is unheard of

NBA Greats
The REAL reason why the 3pt shootout is my favorite contest because it has alot exciting than slam dunk competition
kids nowadays who appreciate curry's shooting mechanics/form has obv never seen mark price's majestic form
The three point shooting contest is so horrible now, that they had to put extra money balls for them to have a decent score! Smdh!!
awesome video
Larry Bird's 3rd 3pt win should be on here. The score wasn't super high but it was the most clutch.
curry's 27 is different from that of the others... there's 1 rack that are all money ball they dont have that before. if you add up all shots made by curry in the old rule.. he only has 23. record was 25 by hodges and kapono.
WHERES BIRD HOLDIN THE FINGER UP
would be a lot better without the music!
Hodges should be number 1. Come on man
Craig and kapono is the best
Only Craig
I was so devastated when they said the record is 25 and he missed...
I subscribed
I hate the fact they added the all money ball rack cuz it kinda ruins comparing to history but I mean if u count the money ball racks for one each klay Thompson would still have like 25 and shit
Thompson had 23 in the final round if you use traditional scoring.
Money balls don't matter. Curry, Kapono and Price all missed 5 shots. Hodges missed only 4, so he still has the record if we just look at misses and makes.
I AGree. there Should Be No MoneyBalls. Only 1 point Balls.
It’s unfair that Curry is no.1 because the others have had only 5 money ball.
Devin Booker tied with Curry and Kapono with 20/25 balls
HOW THE FUCK DO. YU NOT PUT LARRY BIRD IN THIS
Definitely smoking
Everyone:
Talking about Craig should be first over Curry
Curry 2021 3pt contest:
Hold my Balls!
craig should be the first,
not curry
Vince Rhain hating ass
jason kapono and everyone else didn't have a money all rack
Peja Stojakovic 💪
It's simple. Whoever missed the least number of balls is the greatest...
Great video save the music
Can't even make 1 when it mattered the most (game 7 closing mins). Handed legoat james with the goat status w that historic choke job of him and his boys.
Hodges of course #1, than Curry, Kapono and an amazing Mark Price.
I was gonna comment about Stephs score until I realized everyone noticed too nice to see I'm not the only one lol
man craig hodges was on fire
Hodges the 3-point contest GOAT 19 straight. Wanna be better, shoot 20 straight or ZIP IT!
where's Larry birds legendary 3 point performance?
Larry NEEDED THELAST ONE TO Win' big difference
look liked they got tired on their last shots Larry got Stronger.

curry is king
Had technology moved on so fast? Watching that 2008 footage (not knowing it was 2008), looked like I was watching some late 80's footage.
Wtf! Bird's the best at 3pt shootout...
Curry got 23 if u subtract the money balls extras because they didn't have that before
Larry Bird in 1988 has a strong case here. I know this is NBA, but you need to add Sabrina Ionescu's highlight from Friday :)
Really curry number 1 😅😅😂😂😂
Nobody will ever hit 19 in a row. That's My boy Craig Hodges
uh quick question, when did Craig Hodges play for Milwaukee
Curry broke the 25 points record
nice beat song...what the title this music master :)
If that guy said, “Is this beautiful” one more time 😂
curry had 23 not 27
its a diffrent counting
LARRY BIRD DUDE LARRY BIRD
I had a friend shoot 56 in a row various areas in three point land and stopped out of boredom and went for a layup instead. He said his shooting was on fire, but I had no clue.
i think the number one is hodges..
Who is watching after the dbook one?
This is like comparing 3 point shots to 25 foot jump shot before the 3point line was put in. They messed the shootout up. It's more like NBA Jam now
who tf would dislike this video?

Mark Price el mejor lo máximo
steph curry didnt deserve the nr 1 because there were no moneyballs with mark price but he still got such a score

Old 3 point shoot out = 30 points max
Modern = 34 points max
Must bring back the old passion shootoout.🙂
All shooters before Steph in this vid didnt have a rack full of moneyballs. So Steph's score would be 23 if in their time.
Calm down everyone, just count how many shots they made, hodges had the most with 21 when he scored 24, not sure how many he made in his 25 scoring round, but thats the most shots made ever
curry ain't got no record a row of money balls is not a 3 point contest
Curry had a money ball rack. He should be ranked 4th
mark price the best =)
No. Criag Hodges Was The BEST
now put up a tape OF doing it for theTitle Only . SEE who leads that ONE ?
OK.....KLAY NEEEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THIS LIST
Shu Gao neither him or steph curry should be on the list. Their stats were padded with the new MONEY BALL RACK they did not make as many shots as the old players
Cailen Jackson Curry would've had 23 if the money balls in the last rack counted as 1 point which is pretty fucking good if you asked me
Shu Gao the vid was uploaded in 2015
Craig and jason made more.
Look at Curry man
Hodges number one in my opinion
No opinion, just fact because Hodges was the best because he hit 21 out of 25 shots and nobody has ever done that.
Curry is 23 best is capono but hodges with 19 in a row owns the list...
Hodges missed 4 balls, Curry had 5
