This man needs to be considered to be in the hall of fame. People don't realize that despite his great shooting skills, he was the first point guard to utilise the splitting of the pick and roll that you see in today's basketball.
You left out Dell Curry . It was rumored that Steph Curry was conceived after this contest , Dell was pissed and vowed to get even with the league someday......
At the time of this contest Ellis was the leader in career threes with 972. He finished with 1719 but it’s only 22nd place because of how the game has changed
His shooting technique is fantastic. The focus, rhythm, balance, follow through ... everything is incredible. I don't know whether he was way ahead of his time or just he was unlucky to be in the same era as the likes of Olajuwons, Ewings, Alonzos, Eatons, Parishs, Daughertys, or Malones. Very underrated player.
He was. Excellent PG. Penetrate and dish, pass off pick and roll. Damn near never missed from the line. Too bad he was somewhat injury prone. OK, decent defender, much better than Nash ever was.
Bullshit. He had to play in an era when defenders could clutch and grab and hold. The bad boy pistons and yes even the bulls would have guys fouls out by half time trying to guard a dominant shooter like Price. Just like they do trying to guard Curry, because you can’t hold and grab like the 90’s old days.
That 24 by Price was as impressive at Hodges 19 in a row. Wow. Price is a severly underrated player btw. Edit: and that look by Barros like...24 yeah right that ain't happenin' Lol.
Amazing to me that Price, Ehlo, and Kerr were on the same team at one point (along with Daugherty, Nance, and Hot Rod Williams) - and still couldn't get over the hump.
Really hated when price wasn’t put in same category of an Stockton or a Thomas. I get it. But he was so good. And he had to do too much in Cleveland most of the time. Except the few years their team was elite
Even Thomas agrees that Mark should be in the HOF. If you invent a form of offense that is now common you should be on the HOF. He invented splitting the pick and roll from the three point line.
I don't. Not at all. I would say it's Curry's ridiculous range that puts him on top. But from about 28 ft in, Mark and Ray Allen are right there with anybody.
Price = one of the most underrated players ever.

Agreed! Just his passing highlights - without even considering his amazing shooting skills - are amazing!!
Mark Price could make any team better.
Looks like every shot that Mark shoots is going in. Form is perfect!
HZ best shooting cavalier
Price is one of the few I expected to make nearly any shot he took. Felt the same about Walter Davis and George Gervin.
Mark Price is an all time great. Wish there were some players like him around today
This probably the best 3 point contest of all time, Price, Steve Kerr, BJ, Ellis, Richmond.....
don´t forget Ray Allen and Reggie Miller though
Thorgard Haugen FAIL... Ray Allen was drafted in 96 and Miller wasn’t even in this competition. We’re you watching a different video??
@@deelo2281 sorry was just talking about 3point shooters in general
You left out Dell Curry . It was rumored that Steph Curry was conceived after this contest , Dell was pissed and vowed to get even with the league someday......
That music during the shootout was fire.....first all star weekend I ever watched and still my favorite.
one of the most underrated pg in the history of the game.
Vase'l Glass, Jr. Yeah
James Harden james how's Houston...
Vase'l Glass, Jr. Ok. I'm carrying again
How many yards do you plan to get this year, James Harden
Big OX Uchia fully agreed!!!

Washington Bullets 96 @ Cleveland Cavaliers 117 (04-22-1994) Hill 20 Points
If he would have played with todays Rules. He would be so nasty.
Curry is Price 2.0 with today’s rules.

Thank you for the upload. Ive been looking for the '94 shootout for the longest.
Price was the best shooter in these competition! it just makes me happy and full of joy, everytime i hear the "swoosh" :-)
trha2222

Dallas Mavericks 99 @ Cleveland Cavaliers 110 (02-26-1994) Hill 24 Points
i wanted the last 3 shots to go in
That boy mark price was good at shooting the basketball hopefully I can learn from him
his release of the Ball was just perfect!!!
Back to back . I knew Price was nice but damn ! One of the quickest releases you will see but deadly .
Price is terrific, but Ellis is underrated too.
mark price jumper looks clean tho
Best Cavalier ever! Well, second best....
The Cavaliers history is so sad that Ilgauskus is still the second leading career scorer with barely over 10,000 points.
Who's first ?
@@mathidonidopitroutchini5140 Jamario Moon
Invented splitting the pick n roll as well
He gotta be the best 3 pts shooter all time
I dont know about that. To me, that is debatable. I used to love watching all these guys except Eric Murdock. Didnt really stand out to me.
LOL you dont want any, I was the best back in '98.
Underrated
Mark Price was in Popular Mechanics (spanish) ... perfect shooting form... My master
Man, in that finals round, that top of the key, all 5 shots were swishes
I love the swishes😊
One of my idols as a kid

Great musical choice on that Trademark. 🎸
As a good shooter as has ever played. I didn't say scorer, player, anything else. Shooter.
He was. Excellent PG. Penetrate and dish, pass off pick and roll. Damn near never missed from the line. Too bad he was somewhat injury prone. OK, decent defender, much better than Nash ever was.
Mick A lol Very injury prone. My favorite player but the injuries after 93 or so definitely did him in

The song in the background from 0:00 to 0:45 is Trademark - Eric Johnson, one of the greatest guitarists ever
The soundtrack Trademark by Eric Johnson in the intro gives me shivers.... (90's feel)
Mark Price should be in the HoF
If Grant Hill and Penny can get in it would be hard to argue against him not being a hof'er
Couple weeks ago this kid said he never heard of mark price , that’s crazy
Amazing to me that Price, Ehlo, and Kerr were on the same team at one point (along with Daugherty, Nance, and Hot Rod Williams) - and still couldn't get over the hump.
Don’t forget they also had Ron Harper
The "hump" had a name- Michael Jordan
Really hated when price wasn’t put in same category of an Stockton or a Thomas. I get it. But he was so good. And he had to do too much in Cleveland most of the time. Except the few years their team was elite

Great shooter, but that last rack from the side kills him!
Hard to say it killed him when he humiliated any other opponent

If todays rules easy score 30points for marc price.
That Form tho
Does Dell Curry have the most casual looking 3 point contest style ever?? Yes.
who would’ve known during that time that steve kerr was going to be a head coach
Who at that time would've cared
SICK
People think I've lost my marbles when I say that Price might have been as good of a shooter as Curry.
I don't. Not at all. I would say it's Curry's ridiculous range that puts him on top. But from about 28 ft in, Mark and Ray Allen are right there with anybody.
What's the song at about 1:25 onwards in the player's presentation?
"Right Now" by Van Halen...Eddie playing piano there.

Dell Curry dosen't know how to shoot 3 pointers compared to his own sons
What da hell BJ Armstrong was in there?
B.J. was a good 3 pt shooter. Just a decent guard, overall. But good 3pt man
Steve Kerr up against Del Curry in a 3 point contest? How about that ... 🙄
dale ellis 😐🤣
