The more I watch this series, the more astonished I am at the sheer amount of work Lee and Tiffany put into taking care of whitetails on their properties. It is truly amazing. Bow hunting is my favorite thing in the entire world, even if I could do it full time, I still dont think I would have the energy and drive to do what these guys do! Lee and Tiffany, keep living the American Hunters Dream, love it.
Not only are you guys avid hunters you actually care about the deer as well. Ones actions speak louder then words. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks for the all of the information. Really love watching these videos you guys provide. I always learn something new and look forward to next weeks video. Take care !
Man Lee I salute you brother. I love it like you do and just love the animals and the work that goes into keeping them on your land and keeping them healthy year round. It's why it's a special brotherhood that understand our passion and why we do what we do for the deer and turkeys. But brother if people can't see how passionate you are and the things you do just to try to prevent EHD even knowing it could still happen I don't know what to tell them. Anyway brother keep doing what your doing and thanks for portraying it on youtube and giving a little look into how hard you work and what it takes to build a herd and keep them healthy. Kudos to you my friend.
With this one, yes. Permethrin was only .05% of the active ingredient so I wouldn't be worried about that small of an amount getting into the water. I think of it in PPM (parts per million). That small of an amount in that big of a piece of water (speaking in terms of overspray), Im still doing more good than harm. -Lee
Are you all seeing good results from all of this prep this year? EHD seems to be sweeping across all of southern Iowa and hearing death tolls have taken off in the past few weeks.
The Rubbermaid tubs was a idea I had this year. I’m thinking about installing some in the near future!! Definitely been a tough dry year awesome tips Lee! Thanks for sharing!! Definitely gave me some pointers
Thanks Lee for a great informative video. Here in Central Illinois we're about 7" below normal for rain too. Hopefully Mother Nature changes things quick.
Always loved Lee and tiff's content on RUclips and TV shows, they work so hard to keep such a nice farm and produce some monsters, quality deer management at its finest. Pls remind me what EHD is please, I apologize I don't remember what it means. Is it similar to chronic wasting disease? Blessings and best of health to you all and your families
Your definitely putting in the hard work to help the whitetail. I’d personally be concerned on the spraying part. Is spraying the field around them giving enough protection or even saving a worthy percentage of deer vs the potential effects on important insects? That widespread spraying may have a pretty significant impact on insect populations like bees and other pollinators that other wildlife depend on. I could see spraying potential hotspots like right around feeders but the whole field seems excessive and the negative may outweigh any potential benefit to the deer.
We invest so much time and money into our herds it’s good to see a way to fight ehd. We don’t have a huge ehd problem normally in the south but the Midwest does. Not sure why that’s the case.
Smart planning brother 👍, Don Higgins talks about the product of real world to help prevent EHD ,it takes all of us to help our deer , because DNR could careless about it!!!!
@@bbbbbbb2357 o yes they are trying to control everything, they are watching people get rich off the hunting industry etc, just like trucking industry the laws they put on us truckers are down right ridiculous!!! Thanks for replying!!
Hey, I just wanted to add, I put fly traps over my little pond/water hole on a flower pot post..seems to really help. The ones you see for cows n horses.
How do you adjust your hunting strategy with drought conditions? Assuming closer to water sources and alfalfa plots? Not something I have experienced in Maine. I enjoy your videos.
I just installed a stock tank about a week and a half ago. Unfortunately being in Illinois, we are extremely limited on what we can do in regards to feeding, mineral, etc.
I'd like to learn more about the ticknology you spoke of. I wasn't able to find anything on google or the anilogics website. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction
Awsome video Lee. Curious of that fogging. How often do you do that during the summer, an is it pet friendly to where you can do it right up around the house?? Thanks
Normally just when he sees those big swarms, it’s permathron and he doesn’t spray it super close to our house, we r actually working with organic materials on blends that are all natural and had some success! Will keep u posted! Tiffany
@@LeeandTiffanyLakosky In the U.S., El Niño is associated with wetter-than-average conditions from southern California to along the Gulf Coast, drier-than-average conditions in the Pacific Northwest and Ohio Valley, and the potential for warmer-than-average winter all across the northern part of the U.S. Basically not good at all for us trying to help the deer and eat healthy and raise healthy food. got to admire the dedication to year round maintenance and QDM these people put out - I'd love to know the yearly expenditures mathed out to per acre - I'm sure its astonishing and out of the reach of the modern-day hunter/landowner.
Hey Lee, in regards to your cameras and raccoons, I also use zip ties around the wires so coons cant dislodge the wire as my farm is 9 hours away in Missouri. works great many years in a row now, Ryan in Michigan
I do this in NC but with smaller tubs. I put a stick in them so smaller animals can get out. Chipmunks, squirrels, etc get in but can’t get out. This gives them a way out. If not you may have a 100 gallons of stinky, tainted h2o.
Would love to see you guys move away from monoculture food plots and discing the soil. A layer of thatch would do wonders for making your plots more drought resistant. would also cut down on mud and erosion issues.
Hey Lee love the show but if you want to help ehd you should look at what causes it it's not a midge it's round up u want to stop it stop spraying for the season . Think about it have a good one
Kind of a jerk move for the neighbors to place a stand right there, it's legal yes but rude definitely. Glad you moved the road maybe it will teach them to do there own work.
Does this EHD effect Minnesota deer I wonder? I am going to do some looking into this and hopefully use your methods to help the deer, only problem is I live in a county where it's illegal to feed deer, so I'm looking into feeding the squirrels so they don't catch this. 😂
This is the epitome of what the hunting industry has turned into. Totally not relatable to the average hunter or what hunting truly is. Millions of dollars in land, equipment etc. None of this helps hunters or conservation and only helps promote the hunting industry who is so far out of touch with the reality of hunting.
You guys are doing a good job doing all you can to help prevent it, but there is no EHD vaccine. Luckily a very few can survive EHD and those developed antibodies can be passed on to their fawns.
Love the content. Keep it up! One suggestion would be to tell how the average Joe (who doesn’t have all the equipment and money to do it this way) can do something similar with more limited resources. Thx!
The water troughs are great but the water does need to be changed out on a regular basis due to the water becoming stagnant even with the minerals added
At some point they become pets and not wild animals. They can be free range and still not wild. I am not saying these steps are at that point, but at some point. I have heard of a few groups going even further than this - conditioning deer to human scent, steroids or other medication in feed, breeder bucks with wild does. The line walked on wild vs genetically modified is razor thin when you start putting medication in feed. Medication in feed that keeps deer warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, Medication that keeps them awake in November or increases your does sex drive in October. Thousands of possibilities. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more regulation in this area.

Also, those cheap fly trap bags, are amazing. Will hold up to 20000 flies each.
I’ve noticed when trying to water whitetail deer theyll choose non chlorinated sources if available.
What is the name of the pellet?
Where is a link to your live cam to watch the deer

Has nothing to do with conservation of our public hunting lands, game animals or what real hunting is all about.
