It's a bummer having to go through all this, just to upgrade memory; it was so easy up to the 2011 A1311 model; just like with cars, nowadays it's getting harder and harder for the average Joe to repair and upgrade; oh well, I guess we all deserve to make money, if we have skills; thank you so much for the excellent video! I have an early 2013 A1418 in need of memory upgrade and a cracked screen replacement; your video is exactly what I needed for the task
I have done the 27" models before with no issues but then had to quote on this 21.5 inch unit which is entirely a different beast! This video is very methodical and even though this was my very first one it went without a hitch..no issues at all and I have this video to thank! My only beef; why oh why does everyone who makes these type of videos feel there is a need to have "music" in the background? Not everyone likes the same type of music and as this is meant to be informative in nature I feel there is no need for it. Constructive critique only not to be negative. Very good video overall IMO! Good job! so now I think I should also subscribe :)
thank you for your comment, I see your point.. there are some videos with music that irritate me profundly. The reason why, I like to use ambient background music (not very loud) is because I'm not very good on creating commentary.. as much as I want the video to be informative I feel it would be too tedious / dull if it was complete silent. I try to chose background music that is not on your face or too loud.. hard to explain but I believe most people would find the background music I've chosen easy to listen to and not too aggressive on their ears.
If upgrading the memory is doable, why does the Apple website say it is not upgradable? Is it as basic as Apple doesnt want us to upgrade ourselves and purchase a newer model or is there a specific problem or difficulty?
you can check on the Crucial website for your specific model.. some models max memory will be 8GB some models 16GB or 32GB.. however the process to install is the same .
You have to remove this cable and that cable on the other side and the other cable.. you also have to disconnect this cable and that one and also this one and also.. also.. also.. 🙄
@@LetMeShowYouUK Not necessary. It's all in jest... lol. Actually the video is quite thorough. I'm just mad at how much you have to do in comparison to the 27". But you're good bro!
I do recognize tha the camera could have been positioned better. By the way, how much are you paying to watch this video? (I guess, for a free tutorial it isn't so bad)
@@LetMeShowYouUK you are right, I didn't pay anything. By the way, how much do you earn to share this video ? For free ? LOL My comment is just to improve the way it is record. I should have added a smiley. Nothing negative. And I found another free tutorial to change my RAM :)
@@calcal9551 I don't earn anything, out of those videos.. my channel isnt monetized (I need 4.000 hours of watch time for that to happen.. I have pretty much given up, very time consuming and dificult to achieve)
I had my girlfriend run her long nails over the edges of the iMac that's the best way to loosen the glass. you don't need a removal repair kit but a hot girlfriend SHE MUST BE HOT and nice nails and someone who wants to take care of her man !

God forbid Apple would have put a lid in the backcase for easy access to the RAM slots :D

hello ya'll IL be getting new imac late 2013 motherboard from ebay so can I use my old power supply board that is from late 2012 thanks
Methodical and clear! Easy to follow!👍
thank you for your comment! I'm glad you like it!
@@LetMeShowYouUK can you tell me if it's possible to go 128GB ? on the late 2012?
What difference does it make between 8 gb to 16 gb? Does it really become fast? Also, I am thinking to upgrade mine. What kits do you guys recommend?
Does it actually speed up your computer?! I mean you can’t even update to newer operating system anymore! Love the video!
Yes you can. Look up open core legacy patcher. Currently running Ventura on my late 2012.
Every other iMac model has a simple panel to remove on the back. Why does my mac need to be entirely dismantled for a RAM upgrade??? Crazy
what is the tool called?
Nossa cara , que foda! Parabéns monstro!
vai aprendendo ai :D
Tnks! From 🇲🇽 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
how much did you put in your iMac ?
You are welcome!

You are right, Apple doesn't really want people to be able to upgrade or repair those computers.. they try to make harder and harder on newer models.
I’m just buying a new Mac
What’s the maximum amount of ram that this computer can take?
iMac 2012 - 21.5 inch model max RAM Upgrade 8GB * 2 slot
Link to by the RAM please?
any luck?
how much can you put in this iMac? apple says it's not upgradable? ? ? ? I have two 4GB modules right now

Omg… apple really made it diff. To add memory.

I will try to make better commentary next time.

Screw apple thats why I hate apple they sucks anyway any apple dispose it on the Ewaste bin

Zkušenosti nemusí být vždy o penězích - díky za video..
on apple's website it says it's not upgradeable ? ? ?
I like to use everymac.com for reference
so you only went to 16. ?? ? 2 x 8GB? that's lame why not 2 x 16" at least
16gb RAM is DDR4. It must be DDR3 for that imac, 2x8gb is max with DDR3
I don't judge it to be lame.. in fact, I offer my clients the options and let them chose.
@@LetMeShowYouUK no my bad it only allows 16GB
but have you tried adding a second hard drive? is it possible

yes, hot gf is a requirement for any iMac model RAM replacement. LOL
