- Lightyear Frontier is a cozy, farming, sci-fi, building game that can be played solo or in up to 4 player co-op. It has some Slime Rancher, Stardew Valley, and even Satisfactory vibes ;) In this complete beginners guide to Lightyear Frontier, I will explain to you the basics from the ground up by starting a brand new game so you can watch and even play along. I will explain the controls, the UI, the mechanics, how to farm, upgrade, build, explore, feed animals, craft and more. I detail my thought process, sharing tips and tricks along the way but I spoil nothing about the game or the story. I don't force a particular path or tell you to min/max, but rather help by providing the fundamentals so you can enjoy Lightyear Frontier at your own pace. If you are thinking of buying the game and want to see early gameplay, or have purchased it but would like some pointers on the basics, this is the guide for you!

While on foot, you can throw items directly at your mech to have it gather them, you don’t need to drop them and pick them up manually.
Yes! Great tip! You can also just get them close enough when picking them up with your pickaxe carry to have the mech pick them up--it's very nice!

Hi. Just started playing this today, this was super helpful thank you. Is there anyway to extend the home boundaries (dotted lines)? I actually have 2 sets a small one around the tent and now a larger one but not sure how it happened. Any info would be appreciated.

It's in the Meadows right out of the gate! Some by the lake, some by the Ratscallion den, some over by the waterfall, to name a few spots. In my video, I show off a few of these places!

@Eric_B_59 the most prevalent spot is at the red crystal out cropping to the north.
The small lake near the Ratscallion den is a great place to make a foothold - water, huge aluminium deposits and I really enjoyed crafting my first homestead to fit the hollow there 😊💙
100% despawn of anything you drop...at least it's just what you've picked up and dropped because I've left some plant fibers when I knew I couldn't carry it and they were still there the next in-game day. I spent 5 hours grinding resources and dropped over 3k pounds of plant fibers, with it GONE the next day. Talk about frustrating.
I think this is done to avoid the world becoming littered and possibly bogging down performance. I can absolutely sympathize with losing all that material though, I hope you have kept with it the upgrades make resource gathering a breeze and feel really rewarding for the effort it takes to craft them!
Yeah, I feel you on this--I try to put everything in boxes to avoid this! Your inventory is limited early, so I find myself making lots of boxes haha
I think you are right about why they have the resources despawn!
Why is this not for xbox one this does not seem like a very taxing game.... hopefully it comes soon to xbox one if anyone has tried it let me know?
