i think the mini line didn’t do well because of its cost. For 429$ a mini would sell far better. As 699$ i think was just too much for the mini unless someone truly wanted the smallest screen. But having it priced at 200-300$ less then the regular non pro iphone will make more sense to buy one not just for a smaller screen. Because having it cheap for an iphone makes it more affordable which creates more demand for the device beyond just it being small
It's possible that with the SE lineup, they are simply repurposing old parts from their inventory. If they anticipated higher sales for the mini, there could be an excess of mini components stored in a factory.
my perfect iphone se 4 would be an iphone 13 mini with an iphone 16 processor and usb c but I think it will be like a normal iphone 14 with usb c and a newer processor.
Apple should add constructor option on the website and build custom phones prototypes before creating a new version. unfortunately they have no idea what people need ( I mean we need mini) 🤔
I work at apple and I absolutely hate selling this phone to people and also that it’s the only phone that doesn’t use MagSafe so we gotta wrap the cables at the end of the night. I can’t wait for the SE4 it’s very exciting
Should i switch from iphone 13 mini to the se 4 now that its coming out, would it be a upgrade? My battery life is horrible on my phone and its getting unbearable
The saddest thing about the iPhone SE 2022 is the fact that the Google and Samsung phones that are at its price point have nicer and larger displays. They are slightly slower but performance is not the only thing that people consider when buying a phone.
Probably 64 GB as base model. The way to cut cost and price. There will be options for 128 and 256 GB also. Probably not 512 GB. This is how they do to make more money.
I just got an SE 3 to use as a secondary/less distracting phone… for $70 on marketplace. It’s a great piece of usable nostalgia if you can get it for cheap!
I think they are going to reintroduce the "Mini iPhone" back as a SE variant. Makes more sense, since they usually opt out for a smaller form factor for the SE phones.
They should make the screen 5.8” to 5.9” to replace the mini in their lineup. While at it, use LCD to have an alternative to oleds. Older people would love this
Keeping a close eye on this release, if it's actually happening and not just a test device for their 5g modems... Unless they do something really stupid this will be the device that moves me back from Android. I'm not willing to pay the ridiculous prices of the other models.
I know Apple won’t, but I’d love the mini chassis to return. The 12 mini is the only reason I came back to iPhone, and will happily hold onto it until it dies if they don’t make a new one!
I love small phones. I always owned big phones, currently S22 Ultra, but yeah small phones are great. I had the 4, 5s and 1st gen SE. Great phones. I might have big hands but something about the small form factor just screams "phone".
I know it's unlikely but I thought the iPhone SE4 would be based on the Xr. Even at the time the Xr was good value for what it was. I'm on a Samsung A54 rn due to life circumstances, but I'm itching to get back to the fruit. But not for $500+. Used us also an option.
I love the SE 3 regardless of what everyone says. I got mine a year ago for 200$ which was a steal for the performance it has. It does everything you need a phone to do and it just works
Xr has been out of production for years. Apple is gonna use spare parts that are currently available - so it should have the iPhone 13 and newer design with single cam.
Imo, the SE should take over the Mini series and adopt the same dimensions as the 12/13 Mini. Sure, a more premium Mini device would be a lot better but it does make sense, especially if they only refresh the SE lineup every few years as opposed to every year. The first SE used the body of the iPhone 5S and as far as I'm aware, that sold like hot cakes at the time.
There are people holding on to their 12 and 13 mini and making the iPhone SE 4 a 5.4 inch display would help drive sales from existing 12 and 13 mini owners. Granted there’s no ultra wide camera but I’m sure people will mind the sacrifice of an ultra wide camera for a smaller iPhone with modern internals and better battery life.
I really doubt it will get the iPhone 15 main 48mp sensor knowing how cheap Apple is with this line and considering that the the current and past generation of iPhone SE’s have stuck to the iPhone 8 sensor, the most I see it getting is the iPhone 13 Pro’s main sensor which the exact same the 14 uses.
I think the se4 needs to be basically be a Xr mini. There’s still a market for smaller phones, and I’m pretty sure it overlaps with the market for cheaper phones
Back in early 2023, I bought an unlocked, refurbished iPhone SE 2nd gen for $175. I love it!. It's nice n small, performs just fine and the battery is (usually) fine. Also because it's unlocked, I was able to purchase a Tesco eSIM when I went on holiday to the UK so that I had mobile data!
What Apple should have done is release the SE3 in the chassis of the xr, and then the SE4 in the 13 mini. This way it will justify the „Special Edition“ name much better - reviving a popular/iconic design for which they already have the production capabilities.
If it's in a 12/13 mini form shell, and has USB-C, that alone would get me to consider upgrading honestly. There just isn't any "flagship" phone offered in a size below 6" with the longevity of an iPhone anymore. The S24 is real damn close imo, but it's 6.1", which is like half an inch bigger than the 13 mini. An S24e would be literally PERFECT imo, but again it just doesn't exist.
I think the only reason they haven’t updated the current SE is solely due to the fact that technically the A15 haven’t been cut from the lineup yet. Once the iPhone 14 series goes, the SE will probably adopt the iPhone 16 chip and then Apple will do the same song and dance where they forget about it for 3-4 years
There has to be a compromise somewhere. I'm thinking they'll put TouchID in the power button like on iPads, and it will have no FaceID. And maybe no action button either, if they really don't want to cannibalize sales.
That would increase production cost since they don't have a TouchID based power button for iPhone. But they do have a bunch of FaceID modules laying around.
The only design which would make sense for the SE4 would be the X/XS design. If not, what would it be then? 11, 12, 13 design? If they‘re going for a differen/new design it wouldn‘t be an SE but rathee something like the 5C or XR.
If apple really doesnt want an iPhone Mini form factor, just give it an XS body. That 5.8" Screen Size is still way better to hold in your hand than 6.1".
The SE iPhone is what we got our tweens as their first phone. It's affordable and a great device for 12- and 13-year-old to have as their first communications and internet device. In our house when a child graduates from high school, we buy them an iPhone Pro providing they have at least a B average. if they don't obtain that average, they are expected to purchase their own cell phone and return the SE to us. This is a great motivator for most children. Given the new restrictions on cell phones being available in school we only allow our children to have them before school or when they have returned home. They are not allowed to have them at home. If there is an emergency the school's office is called and the message is relayed to the child.
In my country the SE3 has actually increased in price since launch. From about 520 dollars to 600 dollars. They better bring an SE4 that is good. My guess is it will be the iPhone 12 body, that may sound old and it would mean smaller battery and larger notch than if they use the 13 or 14 body but they don’t want to make it too good I think.
I think they should give two cameras with the XR/XS/11 type modules if they want to keep the less fashionable/less premium design. We get extra camera and they keep the old design everyone is a winner.💯

@@AzureRT456 Why wouldn't it get A18 and 8gb ram? iPhone 16 has it, the SE always gets most recent specs. It's perfectly aligned with Apple mentality too, it will force a lot of people to upgrade to either 16 or new SE to get AI.
@@vaultboy1419 Like I said the possibility of SE4 getting A18 is real, but 8GB doesn't as the SEs were always their budget/midrange offering. And Apple shouldn't be dumb enough to give a lower priced model AI while that's their whole selling promotion of the iPhone 16s. However, I'm not an Apple nerd. So I don't know what Apple actually does so feel free to take this with a grain of salt
I still think that the next iPhone SE will be the iPhone XR with the latest non pro chip. It’s already edge to edge display, with one camera lens…. No need to take already existing design, like the iPhone 14, and somehow fit one camera lens.
Well, they don’t make XR chassis anymore, so that would make it more expensive. The point of the IPhone SE is to use things they have, i.e. the 14 chassis, to make a cheaper phone with newer specs.
I think that the iPhone SE 4 will have a reduced performance version of the A18 with fewer CPUs and GPUs. This is because the old TSMC low yield 3nm chip making processes used to manufacture the M3 and the A16 will be scrapped by TSMC. I think that it is likely that all low end chips made by TSMC for Apple in 2025 will be be variants of the A18 and M4 with fewer CPUs and GPUs.
Honestly they should use the 13 mini Chassis, 1 24 MP camera lens, then maybe the A16 Bionic or A17 chip would make for a decent pocket size iPhone that isn’t too overkill with performance to battery
I'm planning on upgrading to the SE 4 from my iPhone 11, as long as there is a 512gb option. I've been creeping closer and closer to maxing out my 11's 256gb of storage for a couple of years. If Apple doesn't provide that option, I might have to shop somewhere else for a new phone.
I agree, it will be the 14 chassis. I keep seeing people saying that it will be an XR, but, they aren’t making XR chassis anymore. It would be too expensive to start a whole new production line for the iPhone SE when the IPhone 14 chassis is still currently being made. The entire point of an SE is to give you the newest features for a low price! This I s also why it will not be a 13 mini size.
UPDATE: There are now rumors that it will be called the iPhone 16E instead of the iPhone SE. The reason for this is, well, two fold. 1. It lets people know that it's a cheaper, lower cost version of the iPhone 16, still having the same CPU, but with sacrifices to the screen, battery, etc. 2. It allows them to increase the price without backlash. Though, it's likely it'll cap out at $600 USD, at least for 128 GB. This is just a rumor though. Only time will tell if this ends up being the case or not.
The only way i would switch back to iphone is if the new SE has 120hz panel and form factor of a 13 mini, it should also just have a dynamic island, why would they have to put the 4 year old notch back in?
Hopefully it's smaller but I doubt it. Introducing something 'new' with the budget phone seems counterintuitive. btw watched this video on an SE3, home button 4ever
It will have 1 camera that is 3 years old, an OLED screen that is 3 years old, Usb-C 2.0 from 2012, 60hz technology that is 10 years old, a battery that is a few years old and will last no more than 4 hours... But that's why it will have new colors that have never been seen before, a mega innovation .... Price for advanced technology $500
To me the perfect "new" se would be to do what they did woth the current se line but stuff it into 8 plus body so home button can stay and bigger screen, bigger battery and boom inovation
If the iPhone SE 4 had the same form factor as the iPhone 12/13 Mini, with the power of a 16, I would maaaaaybe consider a trade in my iPhone 16 Pro for that. Maybe. Small phones will always be ideal to me.
Well, SEs are also corporate and industrial phones, and they like suppliers keep supplying the exact same thing, especially the overall dimensions, so...
If Apple recycled the 13 mini, removed a camera, put a binned A18, and usb-c, it could be perfect and wouldn't disrupt Apple's sales
If only 😭
i hope they would keep 429 dollar price tag or even get it lower

If they go with a 6.1 screen, I’ll pass, but if they go with the iPhone mini design, I’m in
Will this phone have log video format?
I still think that the next iPhone SE will be the iPhone XR with the latest non pro chip. It’s already edge to edge display, with one camera lens…. No need to take already existing design, like the iPhone 14, and somehow fit one camera lens.
Well, they don’t make XR chassis anymore, so that would make it more expensive. The point of the IPhone SE is to use things they have, i.e. the 14 chassis, to make a cheaper phone with newer specs.
the SE needs to be what the Mini phased out to be
I think that the iPhone SE 4 will have a reduced performance version of the A18 with fewer CPUs and GPUs. This is because the old TSMC low yield 3nm chip making processes used to manufacture the M3 and the A16 will be scrapped by TSMC. I think that it is likely that all low end chips made by TSMC for Apple in 2025 will be be variants of the A18 and M4 with fewer CPUs and GPUs.
yes, most likely a18 with defective cores disabled. They need to be put somewhere.
Honestly they should use the 13 mini Chassis, 1 24 MP camera lens, then maybe the A16 Bionic or A17 chip would make for a decent pocket size iPhone that isn’t too overkill with performance to battery
your videos are perfect to watch while eating
they would make the se a iphone mini
I'm planning on upgrading to the SE 4 from my iPhone 11, as long as there is a 512gb option. I've been creeping closer and closer to maxing out my 11's 256gb of storage for a couple of years. If Apple doesn't provide that option, I might have to shop somewhere else for a new phone.
Looked away for a moment in the beginning and hearing "are you licking my phone" made me rewind haha
If only they used the 13 mini design
Hopefully the SE4 takes on a new body of its own and make it 10inches. The bigger and thicker, the better. Let's cross our fingers!
Why no ultra wide cam?
It was a 4 year gap between the SE1 and SE2. Thus, 3 years doesn’t seem all too bad.
I still cannot understand why this lineup isn’t called iPhone Classic or just iPhone CE.
hi
love your Videos
For apple this would be good value but it would still be outshined by midrange samsungs or Motorolas
Only thing that would outshine is camera and screen
@melonspg3d idk man you can get a samsung a54 it has a better screen that has higher refresh rate and it has a way better camera.
It would honestly be better if this phone just replaced the 14 in the line up
I have the iPhone SE 3rd generation I don’t plan on getting another phone until iOS 27 comes out on the oldest supported iPhone at the time
@@Tryingtoexploretheworld Lets go brother !
Yeah. Never used any iPhone as a main phone but Touch ID sounds way better than FaceID (even though I used it myself on my mother's 15PM)
@@AzureRT456I like touch id better
You should make a video on the iPad mini 7 when it comes out
what if they wait for 2026 (se 10 year anniversary)
Am I the only one who never uses ultra wide camera?
It will have 1 camera that is 3 years old, an OLED screen that is 3 years old, Usb-C 2.0 from 2012, 60hz technology that is 10 years old, a battery that is a few years old and will last no more than 4 hours... But that's why it will have new colors that have never been seen before, a mega innovation .... Price for advanced technology $500
Josh you should make a video about the first Apple Watch 10 years later
Bring mint or teal please. I’ll buy it. It’s the only colour I like
mini mini pls
Can't wait for it
To me the perfect "new" se would be to do what they did woth the current se line but stuff it into 8 plus body so home button can stay and bigger screen, bigger battery and boom inovation
Still only rumors were this close to the release date and we’re still only getting rumors
If the iPhone SE 4 had the same form factor as the iPhone 12/13 Mini, with the power of a 16, I would maaaaaybe consider a trade in my iPhone 16 Pro for that. Maybe. Small phones will always be ideal to me.
it should be a 13 mini
Well, SEs are also corporate and industrial phones, and they like suppliers keep supplying the exact same thing, especially the overall dimensions, so...
