Wow you had some blunders there: 1) Literally says the 8*3 method and makes 9/3=3, now only need an 8 with a 6 and a 2, but couldn't find it. 2) Makes 28 and have a 2 and a 8 leftover, needing a 4, again couldn't find it and never revisit the 28 path. The takeaway: Math is difficult when done on the spot.

Edit: 20:20 you were right there. Multiply the four by the eight and then subtract 8 from 32.
another way is 8 x 9 = 72, 8 - 5 = 3 and 72/3 = 24
