Mostly road but picked up a left over 2023 Epic Evo.... so no change for the new year... unless I can get a new Epic HT... or those superiors look interesting... I could always build up a Chisel....
I started on a 2014 Scott scale and then jumped to a 2017 Giant Stance. I guess I technically need 2024 on my Salsa Mukluk since we’ve been snow biking up here since November lol. No plans on changing unless I find another smoking deal on a better specd full suspension rig. I really like the Giant Stance though! I doubt I’ll replace my fat bike for a long while, it’s a 2021 with a few upgrades but it rides amazing for my local trails!
I'm a Canyon Neuron 7 and it's a great bike, so I won't be considering changing it in the near future. When it does come to renewing though, as I'm now in my 50's, I'd consider a light E-mtb, I like the look of the Neuron On:Fly with it's range extender, but the DJI Amflow looks epic.
So glad to see the Chisel first on this list, it always flies under the radar because of the Epic yet it's such an amazing bike.. I own a 2020 Chisel comp it's the best bike I've ever had and my only bike atm, fully upgraded now, this little guy brings me so much joy!
Riding in 2025 ... 2023 Atherton AM.130, 2024 Kinesis FF29 and 1998 upgraded Kona Kilauea...2021 Shand Stooshie gravel bike. No plan for any additions, just suttle upgrades; but sticking with cable actuated gears..Shimano xt gets my vote....not into battery driven on my mountain bikes although my Shand does have Shimano GRX Di2, it works well but not worth the extra money over a well set up xt option.
In addition to Pinkey. I have an Orbea Laufey. With everything except the frame upgraded. Including replacing the 140mm RS Recon forks to 150mm RS Domain forks. I have a Kona hybrid. Which is that old. I had to replace everyting. I am actually running the Shimano 1x11 Deore groupset off the Laufey. Just using a 1 by gravel chainset. I also have a road bike. Which I hardly ever use. As I like brakes that work. Especially when it's raining. Which is why I usually the three bikes I have with disc brakes.
Just picked up that Chisel FS Comp and was stoked to see it on your list. Hopefully it inspires more companies to bring out cost effective aluminum bikes that are fast and fun. The big thing for me that the stack height and 66.5 degree head tube angle really blur the lines between XC and trail bike. In a world of portly, expensive trail bikes, it is kind of refreshing. Even with the stock kit it rides super nice.
I enjoy my gravel bike a lot. Its a good way to train for stamina/distance then hop on the mountain bike and climb circles around my friends. I dont get gravel/ebike whining.
As you say, hydroforming has been around for ages, even before bicycles started using it. The other feature you were describing sounds like the double (even triple) butted tubing. Thin in the middle of the tubes and thicker at the ends for welding
I was looking at the Caliber Bossnut and that bike (frame) is identical to the Polygon Siskiu T7/T8. Everything from the same geometry, same weld points, the pivots, wheel sizing. This is an affordable bike, because all they did was take the Polygon bike change some component, made and rebrand it under the Caliber name.
Thats absolutely Crazy DJI is getting into the MTB world! I just got a Polygon Collosus N9. About the gearbox bikes like shown in the vid, i actually used to have a 2011 collosus, and it had a 3 by gearbox on the front, and a 9 by on the back. It was the Truvativ Hammerschmidt, and it was an absolute TANK it was overengineered to be bombproof
What is your thoughts on the Polygon bikes? I have been checking them out. Thinking about a Siskui or Collosus for my Son. Seems like a great value but I have seen mixed reviews on quality, things broke on arrival and support.
Polygon are some of the best value bikes you can get, and everyone I know who has had one are happy. The service from Bikesonline is extremely good, I've had questions answered quickly, and lots of positive reviews about their support
Can't say I disagree with the selection. For me DJI entering a struggling market is a great indication that the future looks better than the present and I have always been a big fan of metals coming back (we need to move away from carbon....our grandchildren will thank us). But the big take for me is that 2024 saw us settling on geometry...which is very welcome 😅
Here's a 2.5k gravel bike that's a great way to get into off road riding but like five minutes before you talked about the Bossnut that was on sale for a grand 😂
Hey I have a set of Shimano Slx 4 piston on my fuel ex 8 and I have blown up 7 pistons over the course of three calipers is there something that could be causing this.
Not much need for a DH bike to have a flip chip for a 29" wheel when the data for the last 3 seasons is so conclusive. When only 1 race per season (maybe 2 in 2023 I cant remember), are being won on a full 29er, it's safe to say there's no advantage to the trailing wheel being larger than 27.5" for DH racing.
DJi making Ebikes, obviously they have motor\battery technology, but perhaps Ebike profits are pretty big, big enough to convince DJi to make one, probably the engineering costs are minimal, but profit compared to Drones is really high, leverage on their famous brand to sell even more Ebikes to drone consumers, who are into not so much fitness technology things, perfect ebike consumers.
Funny you said don't dismiss the DJI Avinox as a moped. California just passed a law tightening ebike definitions and classing it as a moped. I wonder if that will affect its release in the states...
@@thomasprior7492 - well they're not for everyone and thats ok - but they can be a great gateway bike to MTB - and again they can be a hoot on the right trail!
"Gravel bikes aren't Mountian Bikes" Yes, you are correct. What does GMBN stand for again? I know you like to heavily push your sponsorship deals in your videos but please stop with the Propain gravel bike. I can deal with the Canyon, Propain, Orbea, Vittoria Tires and ergon shill techniques as it helps pay your wages but gravel bikes?
What bike were you riding in 2024? Do you want a change in 2025? Let us know 👇

was riding a Merida Big Trail 500 but took the jump and got a Merida one-sixty 500 in Nov so that will do me for 2025

'How To Be A Mountain Biker'😂
I got my first ebike towards the end of last year the Orbea Wild M10 and I love it

I went to the store with Short to get her a Chisel FS Shimano. Somehow we walked out with an order for her new Epic World Cup.

I’ve just replaced my old 8 year old Cannondale xc with a 2025 Cube Reaction SLX.
Another bike similar to the Nikolai is the Archibald AC1. Steel, high pivot, with a gearbox.

Oh and in the states it seems like the Shimano spec is hard to come by, so seems to be selling faster than the SRAM equivalents.

Vitus bikes! 🔥
Sad they are gone along with Nukeproof 😢

Lol Owen, you used what I said "gateway drug". 😂 I would love to test ride the Atherton bikes.

All Epic 8 have a cable port in the swingarm for mechanical derailleur. and I own the S-Works frame and the port is there

Is there any word on an atherton s200? The current DH chassis is crazy expensive for what it is
Orbea should mount Pinion Gearbox in the Wild,or they afraid of the big S+S(sram+ shimano)?
Pinion MGU is the future.....Dirty chains and rear cogs are now obsolete!
We'll see! Variety is the spice of life
"Now" might be the wrong word. They have been around for a while and still haven't caught on... why is that I wonder?

Does it really class it as a moped? It's pedal assist afterall, still no throttle like motorbikes have to drive...
What happened to the quality? 720p? really?
"...we would be Forbidden in telling you..." I caught that.😉
Caught what? 🧐

Gravel bikes can be a hoot on the right trail - promise!

Everything can be a mtb if you are brave enough
Sorry but gravel bikers still look to me like a roadie that took a wrong turn and got lost 😂

Specialized team buton ------>
Propain Terrel is not a mountain bike
Perhaps not a mountain bike - still at great bike for off-road riding - are tempted to try a gravel bike - or have you got one already?
cheers
Owen
👍😊
You should have said that te amflow destroyed the emb market. I am not a lover of the electric bikes but they did that.
C'mon Owen....the Fork travel on that gravel bike looks to be an inch or two......Why bother?
Small bump sensitivity and vibration! It's a weight penalty but it does make a bit of a difference

To much E-Bike for me. I am out 🤔👎
Love it or loathe it, e-bikes are definitely here to stay, so it's tough not to talk about them
Only 720p !!!!!! Its 2025 isn't it...!! Ha!
