My aunt who was a nurse trained in Australia in the late 1950s still remembers it. She is now in her 80s. She demonstrated the HN method on me for 5 mins some years ago. A fit lady, she did not feel tired at all. I decided to learn this method from her... outdated but still part of resuscitation history and evolution.

They do it to me regularly in a massage center to teach students this technique. Sometimes they compress the end of my ribs in the kidney area. I really like this technique.

Always thought this method was much better for victims of drowning as it pumps out the water from the lungs. I think it is well worth learning this technique if only for drowning.

Yes. Agreed. Perhaps Holger Nielsen method and reverse CPR- pumping on drowned victims back might help.

Fascinating historical value. Just don't try to learn or use this outdated technique. Anyone can learn modern hands-only CPR from watching a 90 second video. Key is to not have too much self doubt, as up to 2/3 of bystanders are too worried about "doing it wrong" when confronted with someone experiencing cardiac arrest. Key to remember is if they don't need CPR you will find out immediately, but if they do, whatever injuries they could experience will heal. Good Samaritan laws mean if you do cause injuries, and the victim sues you, the judge will toss out the lawsuit (unless you acted in bad faith).

This procedure is very outdated. Try looking up, up to date CPR online.👍🏻
