If you don't believe, please do your own research. It's always a good idea to be skeptical about what someone tells you on the internet. This is also true for this video which works with lies of omission.

    • @tonyrigatoni766

@@TheMorgenTee So, my understanding was that the topic of the video was to debunk that twitter claim that Orban was the only government leader who prevented migrants from entering western Europe. I think he did a pretty good job of debunking that claim and, in fact, demonstrated that Orban actually exacerbated the migrant crisis in Western Europe.
I don't see how the "reason the migrants were fleeing Eastern Europe in the first place" is relevant to this topic at all. I'm not saying that it doesn't matter period, but I am saying that it's not relevant for this video...
There was obviously a lot more to the 2015 migrant crisis than the actions of the Hungarian government, but this video is primarily focused on the actions of the Hungarian government. The fact that specific other events related to the 2015 migrant crisis aren't included in the video isn't "lying by omission".

As a Hungarian conservative, I started watching this video with a little doubt. Not because I am brainwashed, or rural, or elderly (I am in my 20s and live in the capital. At the time of the crisis I lived in a block just beside Keleti, so I had a premiere-plain view of this whole mess) The reason of my doubt is that some people tend to edge out things, only highlighting certain details, that support their point of view (fyi the gov' in our home does just this)
But the video turned out to be decent. Again, I am a conservative, but that doesn't mean that I am a far righter. Adam got almost everything right, and made a fairly objective point of sth, that is subjected to very intense political debate in my country, up to this day. However, there is a thing missing, that I think is very important: Registration.
You see, in the EU's quota system, it works as follows: If let us say, an afghani family enters the EU AND gets registered in Croatia, then, if the western countries decide, that for some reason they don't have a place for said afghani family in their country, they get sent back to the place, where they entered the EU and got registered, in this case, Croatia, so it becomes Croatia's responsibility, to take care of them. And the ruling party in my home knew of this. So they transferred everybody, on tax payer's money, without registration to Austria, to let it be their problem. Now, I know what you are thinking: That its spineless cowardice, or worse. And I agree with you.
Hungarians are a very polarised nation. And most of them are still beholden to populism, a thing which not only fidesz, but every other pp in Hungary take advantage of. This is, sadly our way of things since the Fall of the Iron Curtain (and even before that, but thats another story.) Populists trying to beat populists, with no real public servants in our political life, and the ppl stuck between a rock and a hard place. You either vote the alleged "commies" (who, for the historical account do have some connetions to the old day's regime.), or you vote the populists, alleged "nationalists". These are you options in Hungary, and if someone tries to rise up, and make a difference, the current ruling popus usually make short work of him/her, mostly financially.

He and his party have record number of corruption affairs and still 30% of people here vote him, its same as with Hungary, old school thinking populist admiring boomers and seniors. His electorate consists mostly of these 2 entities, so he sent every senior pensioner 250USD through post to get some votes in upcoming parliamental elections. His book he made is such a bizzare, you can read first pages and tell whats the targeted groups age. Its okay tho, prices are increasing here, thanks to our prime minister and his party, so populist boomers are for sure happy. The anti-migrant posters in Hungarian may seem absurd, but really they're just illustrative of how anti-immigration politics functions in much of the world. The people who are most hostile to immigration aren't generally the people who are most effected by it- they're typically in places with very low actual levels of immigration like rural areas and small towns and a large proportion are retired (and thus not competing with immigrants in the job market). Most of their fear and resentment is due to portrayals of the issue in the media. Because it is the public perception of immigration that is the problem, and not immigration itself, populist politicians ahve realised that symbolic gestures become much more important than policies for effectively managing migration, even if those gestures are absurd or counter-productive- e.g. posters in a language migrants can't understand, border walls or leaving the EU.

The Migrant Crisis taught Europe a very good lesson though. After the crisis in 2015 you can notice Europe and the West in general disengaging from the Middle East. I think it FINALLY clicked for the first time that if America and American led coalitions keep bombing and destroying Middle Eastern nations none stop then of course thousands of people will migrate out of the region and go to Europe. This is in part why you can notice a ton of conservative politicians who were preaching disengagement rose in Europe. It is also why you see more and more European nations saying NO to America's interventions and requests for back up / new coalitions and this has pushed America itself to FINALLY disengage from the region. A slow lesson that has been learned. Now Middle Eastern nations can slowly (and I mean VERY slowly) rebuild and hopefully have more stability which will discourage massive migration like that from ever happening again.

I worked at Auchan Budaörs as a foreigner (I'm French) from August 2015 to July 2016.
Migrants were parked in front of the train station in Budapest since months. At the beginning of September, they decided (or were pushed to do it) walk from Budapest downtown. I saw them from my office walking on the highway at Budaörs between Budapest and Vienna.
The government, probably excited about what happened, decided rapidly to mobilize a lot of buses to conduct migrants at the Austrian border. Problem solved for Hungary so but not for Europe.
After that they began to build a wall with their Serbian and Croatian border, I remember going to Belgrad and see all those migrants stuck at the door of the EU for months.
The military checked every train wagon from Zagreb to Budapest for migrants.

When a person enters first safe country on his/her way and get registered there then he/she gets a status of a refugee. But when you enter first safe country, dont get registered there and countinue your travel enetring countries illegally then you are illegal imigrant, like those people, economic illegal imigrant to be more specific.

What you forget is that Hungary had/has legal obligation to stop those immigrants who entered the country illegally. You know, because of Schengen. In fact a little bit earlier Hungary was fined by the EU because Hungary wasn't hard enough on those who tried to enter the Schengen illegally. After the migrant crisis started western EU countries (Denmark, Sweden) themselves started to close down the borders to prevent illegal immigration.
The EU law is still that asylum seekers has to request asylum at the first EU country they entered.

Well, if you think about it, western Europe seemed pretty ok with taking migrants in unchecked, so why should Hungary spend all of those tax dollars meticulously checking through each and every illegal immigrant if western Europe wants them so badly? It would have been far more economical to give them what they want and simply bus them over to the Austrian border. Sure, a lot of what happened was extremely disorganized, but the Austrians could have simply checked them, or even the Germans, or Belgians, or even the French. It seems western Europe equally didn't care about what was going on, if they did, they would have helped more in this crisis.
