I wish I could see people’s initial reactions to the character adaptations / redesigns
I have to imagine people were taken aback with someone like Potemkin or Millia

Milia… Her new design was not bad, but in Strive I felt like they fixed it finally.

They definitely went bolder with the silhouettes to make em stand out more. Sharper edges. More flowing fabrics.
I miss how May rocks back and forth in Strive, such an adorable aesthetic taken away 😭

Yea she kind of lost her pirate-ness to me personally, it just looks like casual cosplay now. Not that its bad i just miss her older charm

Baiken, Potemkin, and Jam all got a serious glow up, and Millia was...improved? Made less bad? I mean, at least she doesn't look like a generic female Ky in Xrd, so she's got that going for her at least.
agreed for everything except Baiken , she is way worse in xrd onward
@@ahmedibrahim4997gotta disagree. Making her hair and ponytail that much bigger gives her a way better silhouette and her clothes are way more detailed in general. Also the eyepatch she has is pretty cool

now with the x2 and strive characters design comparison
Sol got more belts and bigger pants
Ky got a new under skirt , new boots , longer hair
May got new ugly clothes
Millia got a new dress and growed her bangs
Jhonny got a new belt and glued a coin on his hat
Axl got jorts
Chip shows less oh his chest and got shorter gloves
Zato now tries to cover his butt with a belt
İno got new boots
Baiken got more hair and fat
Pot got his iconic armor
Faust surprisingly lost his belts
Dizzy got cooler clothes and a magical girl transformation
Jam got bigger sleeves and downgraded snail looking legs (in stance)
Slayer got thicker
Venom got belts and muscular leg
Should have used the GG1 versions too, some characrers had really big changes between 1 and X.
God, with XRD to Strive there's some give and take. Some newer designs are better, some older ones are better. XRD has much better colors and textures. Strive has english voices and better animation.
But with X2 to Strive it's just all straight up upgrades through and through. From the upscales like Slayer and Venom to the modernizations like Baiken and Dizzy to the redesigns like Potemkin and Millia. It's all just straight banger after banger.

unless you compare Xrd to strive, then the Xrd design is the old one

Am I the only one who prefers Raven's old design? It was weird as hell, interesting, and original. Raven's redesign in Xrd Rev. made him less weird and less original. That sucks. Potemkin's old design is better than that knight redesign in Xrd, imo.

I like the old Sol better. the hairstyle is more daring, the figure is more athletic, the pants are cooler, even the sword. New Sol looks like a 40 year old bouncer with the hair of a 10 year old boy. Even shoes. Old Sol was more active and wore sneakers. New Sol wears heavy boots and apparently sits on the couch a lot.

Dude Venom was openly gay in Guilty Gear X, which was released in 2000. The series, much like the rock and heavy metal it was inspired by, has always been pretty progressive lol.
