It's a great song.
As a parent, I immediately think this is about losing a young child. And it’s devastatingly beautiful to listen to. I don’t know what the source material is for this song but it doesn’t surprise me that she doesn’t often perform it. I wish she would though
So from what I've read in an interview "P!nk revealed that "Beam Me Up" was written about a very close friend of hers who lost a child a year ago (2011) at a very young age, and that the song was the hardest song to write for the album." She has also said "it's the loss of a loved one...a child..it's very close to (her) heart.". It's why she doesn't perform it a lot because the emotional toll it takes. This performance she done because a couple had written to her about something they had went to and she performed the song for them.
But it's such an amazing a emotional song.
To me, this song, *BEAM ME UP* is a part of her PAST part of her life. It seems to me to be a VERY SAD time for *PINK*,,, but that is how I read into her all of her music.. The words/lyrics mean alot to her, and that is what I like about her songs. I would also say, THIS one is from the heart, if you just LISTEN to the words.
This song makes me cry so hard.
