Theres some important about this team that I dont think was explained.
Notail the support was back stabbed by his best friend and partner of 10+ years who stole multiple teammates, he then role swapped from playing a core role to support.
Ceb was their coach and forced to play to fill their roster.
TI was Topson's (their mids) first professional experience, imagine a pro team picks up a solo q demon and then wins worlds.
Ana their carry was considered a fraud at the time for some sub par performances when he was extremely young and had taken a break from pro until he was called up by notail (he then promptly retired until OG called him up for next TI which they won.)
Jerax their 4 has just always been a beast.

Literally no one thinks that. Every professional event that has the same prestige as a CS, Valo Major, Dota's TI or League's Worlds is taken extremely seriously by everyone because every pro's livelihoods are at stake. For CS and Valo pros they make money from stickers/gun skins and battle passes. A life changing amount if you win a major. For dota2 the prizepool alone can change a person's life. And for league the salary gets boosted extremely high(for example after winning worlds Zeus' 2024 salary is the same as Yatoro's entire networth).

Maybe he’s just talking about the vibe of the comms and stuff, but to me it seems pretty obvious that pro dota is MUCH closer to the highest possible level of play than league is. Dota seems MUCH more merit-based while league teams will play horribly and win all the time.
I can understand that he just doesn’t know a lot about the game and he’s just giving his impressions, but I thought he spoke a lot about the issues with competitive league. Clearly I’m misunderstanding something here because dota just seems clearly like more serious game competitively

They are not "not being serious". They are just not in a heavily curated environment. Valve lacks the corporate bs approach in their esport (and game as a whole) where everything needs to appear clean and professional. Valve doesnt enforce their product to be inclusive and family friendly. They dont care, and they are based off of it.

Rather than "it's not as serious as League", it just seems like League players aren't having fun anymore. You say the draft phase is too long in Dota, that's because picks/bans change every time. For LoL, it's the same draft every single time. And lastly, when you said they're always hunting each other like a mickey mouse game, that's because unlike League where if you stay and dominate your lane, it's more or less a guaranteed win, it's not for Dota. LoL has become too linear a game now.
