Washington gave Sarr the green light in summer league to see what he had to show offensively. He wont get that many touches offensively during the season, can still make an impact defensively
Honestly, I think you are underrating Jordan Poole too much. I agree that at the start of the season he was just terrible, but towards the end of the season he improved again and showed glimpses of the 2022 version of himself. His scoring was more consistent and his playmaking and decision making improved. Overall, I would say that we shouldn’t give up on Poole yet.
I personally think they’ll be a more watchable team than the Nets this season (Both are going to be horrible watches for what its worth). - Bub Carrington most likely being the first guard off the bench - 2nd year jump for Bilal Couliably & him getting more touches - Alex Sarr playing next to an actual big in Valanciunas - Corey Kispert having the green light to shoot as many 3s as he wants, coming off the bench
Being so out on Alex Sarr based on just summer league is weird. Gotta give him time to develop. Secondly, maybe Poole can recover some of his value. The Wizards have to wait and watch and trade certain players when the time is right.
@@thesunofgod.front office should prove something before a franchise like that gets the benefit of the doubt. Wolves were shit on with their new front office until they actually won some games

The Wizards players look like actors Nickelodeon would cast if they had a show about basketball players. They look distinct and goofy enough to be characters in a very mediocre mid-budget live action comedy show with an overbearing laugh track.
I am not a wizards fan, but my Spurs were terrible before Victor, and I still enjoyed watching their games and seeing them lose because we wanted to tank for Victor that year and it worked out. Wizards fans have a few fun young players to watch now (they also have Poole and Kuzma but whatever), so you focus on that and pray for them to lose every game so you can get Cooper Flagg. That's a worthwhile prize for losing, and maybe next year you start looking like a fun young team and can get excited again about the future
Sarr in a good situation he got no pressure to win he can work and expand his game, I can probably assume he will be worth the pick he was. Imagine he just dedicates himself to defense he’s going to be great. If offense is his only problem then that’s a good problem to have
Look at all these possessions where Alex Sarr is being asked to create offense. Of course, he is gonna look bad in that situation. He is a project player and is not yet at the level where he should be tasked with shot creation. Obviously, the Wizards as a team are not great. But I believe that Sarr will look much better in the regular season when he is playing around more NBA-level players who can set him up better
There are definitely lineups a coach could put out that are a 10 win team. And then there's some kind of lineup where they are a competitive 20 win team.
While I think that the Wizards are going to continue to be bad, I am very high on Bub and I like the pieces that they can potentially build around with the moveable assets that they have in Pool and Kuz. Sarr will be fine but I can expect a slow start to his career to start off. Bub is going to be the bright spot 100% - Pelicans Fan
I feel so bad for my home state star Cooper Flagg and having to wear those stupid jerseys his rookie year... I hope he stays at Duke another year if Washington gets ping pong ball #1
There have been a bunch of these tall, lanky project picks over the years, who teams really hope will develop a diverse offensive and defensive skillset... but how many of them really become all-star or all-NBA level players? Giannis is probably the most acclaimed example who's currently active (and he wasn't even a lottery pick), and there are certainly others... but how often does it really happen, as compared to how many times these project picks just flame out after a few years?
Historically, a big being picked 2nd overall Darko Milicic, Sam Bowie, James Wiseman, just doesn't work out. Granted that a lot of 2nd overall picks had great careers but, being a big as the 2nd overall, just doesn't pan out.
I really hope Alex does plan out, but man his summer league really was one of the worst i’ve ever seen, hope it means nothing and he can contribute something in the league.
This is why you can’t just tank for the sake of tanking and lose as many games as possible without a plan in place. Watch Washington finish with the worst record and get the 5th pick with their luck.
I would bet the Wizards are hoping the Lakers will give them a first round pick for Jonas at the deadline. That's an easy to do trade for both sides especially when Bron stated he wants Jonas this offseason
That ain’t happening lebron was willing to take a pay cut for it but lakers ain’t doing it if it costs them assets he ain’t changing that teams end result
They can play kispert/coulibali/ brogdon and saddiq/valanciunas/kuzma, and that is a pretty decent 5. And get all the young players to come off the bench. They would still probably be bottom 3 but it would not be as embarrassing... And send some of the good players towards the trade deadline to make sure they are crap
Somehow I found this kind of team is fun to watch in a different way.😂 And Jordan Poole was fantastic in his contract year, meaning he could be valuable in a right situation.
If you out this team out west, they would be dead last and likely have the worst record in all of the NBA. But being that they play in the East, it wouldn’t shock me if they are hanging around the play-in race through the all star break given how many quality win-now guys they have in Brogdon, Kuzma, Valenciunas, Poole, and Holmes, plus their promising young guys in Kispert and Coulibaly.
I actually like what the Wizards have done, at least they are tanking in a deep ass draft class. Their team is gonna be bad but they can suck for 4 years ans then be a playoff team with a new and exciting core if they do it right.
Wizards (if they aren't dumb) can get a real nice return for Kuzma, Brongdon, Jonas by trading them away this season. They just have to accept they wont get multiple firsts for each of those guys and just let them walk so they can be one of the bottom 3 teams in the league this year
