- Are human beings obsolete? Synthesia's AI technology lets you make video content with realistic looking Avatars-- no need to ever step in front of the camera again! But can these avatars really replace human beings? Let's find out!

What do you guys think of this technology?
This is a music video using this product. Very cool. ruclips.net/video/3Wp__FTvtEY/видео.html
Naturally love it! Also, thought I'd add that certain clients can change clothing now (e.g. by putting their logo on a shirt/changing it to brand colours) and make avatars perform certain expressions, like a wave or a wink. 😃
lol yeah, very realistic but not really as smart as they look!!!!
can you make them smart too, I thought AI was suppose to be smart??
nahhh nevermind, i'll wait for the singularity :P
Great review Jenn. I think this is super cool. LOVE IT! I really want to see you as an avatar. Go For It!
Super job Jenn ! Love this !
Thanks for a great review. I looked through the Avatars on Synthesia and they have 2 different outfits with Jack which I think they thought was one of their better ones. I thought Jack's sample voice and Avatar was quite good in acting natural from the 30 second sample. But can an Avatar be believable for a 10 minute youtube video. In small doses on screen maybe mixing with B roll it would work or using as a small corner Avatar. Otherwise don't know on a longer time video format if it holds up as believable not AI. As company training AI maybe good. I definitely think with more time for the company to develop these, they will be getting better each year.
Jenn, it's a good review, however, you should review their pricing plan and how it works before you promote their product as it's not very customer friendly. For $30/month, you can only create 10 minutes worth of video and that appears to be the max length as well. They give you 10 credits where 1 credit = 1 minute of video. However, they also state that editing consumes credits and you cannot buy more credits and the credits do not rollover from month to month. It's a great product, just not sure who would buy this under those conditions.
What's your perception of how much it costs to produced 10 minutes of finished video? If you work in this space, you'd definitely understand that $30 for 10 mins is incredibly cheap: you don't need an actor, a studio, a camera, or any lighting, etc. It's not priced for hobbyists, I'd agree with that, but for professionals who make instructional videos this reduces the cost of production by about 75%, and gets things done in about 1/5 the time it would take if you had to go through every stage of production.
Yeah, I agree ten minutes per month is nowhere near enough.
@jenn jager - Great review. These are great for instructional videos, but the AI is easily spotted quickly. I'd love to see a review with a custom avatar. I'm curious if the custom avatar with your own voice would sync in a more realistic way
Synthesis charges $1k for a custom avatar.
You hit the nail on the head. Creepy and cool. I would definitely like to see you as an avatar. Thanks for sharing.
All the best from a new subscriber.
Jenn, I don't think any AI could come close to your amazing gorgeousness (Sister to sister encouragement here!) 😀
Yes it is kind of spooky to have a twin who is robotic! Yet it’s rather cool to have it available for enjoyment or to create courses, which is what I will like to do. How much does it cost to duplicate yourself into an avitar? I would like to see your personal avitar created!
I enjoyed this video and I agree with you on the lip-sync issues. I have watched a couple of other videos on this, and I like your honest review. Especially with the custom avatar option that is extra $. That is really useful information. I suspect a lot of users will want to use their own image and voice and this may be a deal breaker for some. Any idea on how much extra this feature costs? Is it possible (when using the option for creating a blank (non-template) project) to animate graphics and text? I noticed that the templates do include animations of the graphic elements, but I'd like to see if it's possible to do more than simply add an image, slide or video to a blank project's background. I'm probably going to wait on this, but I do see how it's going to be a huge game changer.
What are Synthesia's competitors? What other choices are out there?
Thank you so much! I had so many questions before purchasing, but you answered them all. I will use this to create professional development courses and to scare my students - lol. I think this is very cool - especially if you love technology. This also helps with accessibility for accurate closed captioning. The swallowing is weird...I would zoom out.
I think this will work very well even though lip synic is off just a fraction. i don't think people would mind that much
It's very subtle.
@@JennJager It all depends on the size of the viewer's screen. If you're watching this on a TV monitor then the lip synch becomes a problem. However, if you're watching it on your mobile device or tablet then the lip synch is much harder to notice, although the avatar's stiffness still is an issue. For more a lot of use cases for this tech, viewers will be watching a training or information video on their mobile device, not watching their favourite YT personality make a recipe or review something. Hence, the limitations should work for most companies looking for something like this, and it's only going to get better. One thing to consider is that the current state is the worst that it'll ever be and pretty soon it'll be indistinguishable from a real person,
I create Environmental Health & Safety learning and many times the AI is unable to pronounce the standard equipment or processes. Sometimes coming up with multiple different pronunciations for the same term. It’s a better product than the vast majority of AI products out and the language packs are impressive.
For generic use, it can be very good solution.
Thanks for your insight!
Good review Jen, i like your honesty
We can only produce 10 minutes of video in the personal plan. Did I get right. If so, isn't it too expensive at $30? If I were to make Avatar 3 in Hollywood it would cost less.
180 minutes would be less than $600. That's dirt cheap by today's standards if you're hiring a production team, actor, etc. Moreover, it'll be complete in a day, not 6 weeks.
@@AC-gw4qu You work for Synthesia, right? I see you promoting them over and over in this thread.
Very informative video.
Awesome video 🙌🏻
thanks for this video. I was considering Synthesia but the 6 slide limit is a deal breaker for me
Yeah, it doesn't seem to give very much for the money. $30/month only gets you 10 minutes of video.
Love it! Do you know how much time this is going to save me…🏃🏽♀️💨
Great video. Thank you so much.
You know which software can convert videos to cartoon ??. not sure if even possible but just curious since you seem to know video making softwares
Thanks!! You’re very pretty too❤
It will enable people to make videos that wouldn’t have made videos before so yes, it’s a cool technology.
Really helpful, what with Chatgpt and this are we all going to be obsolete sooner rather than later.!
Can I use my own avatar?
How much was it to add your own person as an avatar?
$1,000 for a year's licence. Then another grand if you want to keep it.
The moderators of Syntesia turn down everything that you submit anyways. it is a waste of time.
As a fellow AI, I answer: yes! 🤖
Not obsolete, just immortal. Your personal company owns your avatar. If you pass away, someone else in your company can do the work.
aaand. the avatar inhales a lot between phrases....
The voice sounds like AI to me. Maybe the latest text to speech programs like Talkia are better (haven't checked them out yet).
30 USD for 1*10 min. video creation per is plainly spoken absurd. Thought about using , find it too greedy.
They’re heavily priced for hardly anything, nowhere near replacing humans.
Best video
ha l dont konw.
Me neither!
Weird and wild stuff fur shur 😂
Isn't it?!
Cool...kind of creepy...but cool.
Man are times changing.

Great video and channel. I can tell they're all fake. Easy to see. It looks good though. Scary technology that really shouldn't be advancing. In 10 years it will be very scary.....and even the next few years.
So cool 😎 😍 👌
Weird, right?
@@JennJager I like it👋
The future is here.
It really is. Do you like it or is it scary?
You are an avatar?
The voices are the worst part. Business won’t adopt this until the voices sound right.
I can foresee nothing good coming out of this.
I don't agree with you. I think they are real people
They're based on real people, but the animation is artificial.
😳 you really do?
@@coach.b Yeah, think about content scale using these AI tools. It is just beginning it will become perfect in future
Who, or what, would be watching these videos? Human beings, perhaps?
