    Great guitar. Back in the 90s, I bought a brand new Martin D-15 for $550. Yep, solid wood front, back and sides on a Martin for $500 and change. I sold it about 10 or 12 years ago for the same price! Yep, a used but still great all solid wood used Martin for $500 and change. Damn, I wish I still had that thing.

    Thought I saw my guitar 😊 (I got the Martin 000-15M; it's a sweet guitar).

    All of the raccoons, rabbits, blacktail deer, and even a stray whitetail fawn, along with my semi-tame jays and crows all send their best. Hummingbirds, too I should add.

    Rather curious... why not cut some vertical stays after the first split happened ? This guitar should have been built with them to start with ..

    Do your place your cleats with the grain at an angle in relation to the guitar wood grain to allow for humidity and temperature changes like on violin crack repairs are ?

    I have a question. Fish glue. How long do you have to work with it? Hide glue feels like 20-40 seconds work time so hence, I ask. Thoughts?

    • @harpethguitar
      @harpethguitar  2 месяца назад +2

      10-15 minutes with fish I’d say.
      I like to extend the open time of fish glue and HHG by warming both parts with a hairdryer 😊

    Hey Scott, a comment and a question. First, great vid as always. Second, I see you use both the StringTech work station and the Proper's. If you had to choose, which one would you recommend? Thanks

    • @harpethguitar
      @harpethguitar  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! I use the Tech Deck 100% every job. Then Total Vise #7 before Proper’s WS for what I do. Proper’s WS is the best for fretwork though.

    Another great restoration, and thanks for all the magnet tips! From an absolute nonmusician, when you measure the action in 64ths, are you measuring to the center of the strings or the bottom of the string?

    • @patrickniedermeyer2112
      @patrickniedermeyer2112 2 месяца назад +1

      Bottom. It's a clearance measurement.

      Thank You!
      I measure from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string

    Why padauk vs maple for the cleats?

    • @patrickniedermeyer2112

      My guess is Paduk is also a resonant wood but comes closer to matching the color.
