Happy growing!
Sean, I was so touched at that tribute to your dad. I lost my husband last July, and I had not thought about sprinkling his ashes as the base of a planted tree. That is a beautiful memorial. Thank you for sharing, and I'm so sorry for your loss.
My father passed this past year, too. I continue to grow in his honor.
And, again, thank you for sharing your heart for all creation. May we all be encouraged to grow.
Planting that oak is a very beautiful way to commemorate your dad, Sean. And I am in no way surprised to learn that you are a person of the oaks. Of course you are. ❤️
A beautiful tribute to you Dad :)🌺
I am so sorry for your loss, Sean. What a beautiful way to honor your family roots by planting an oak in his memory. Wishing you peace and healing during this tender time.
My neighbor just lost his dad, who had planted an oak tree 9 years ago when he was given 9 months to live. I added two grapes to it in memorial.
Sorry for your loss beautiful tribute, with one life passing a new one begins. ❤
So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful way to honor your Dad
Growing in buckets, bins, and boxes made out of repurposed wood, I have to be creative to have a permaculture approach. I use a perennial in a bin as a prime plant, and try to use biennial and annual herbs and greens to build around. Chive bushes, horseradish, Lime Balm, Yarrow, Sunchokes, raspberry, mint, balms, and agastaches have been my main prime plants, with Parsleys, Bloody Dock, Sorrel, Arugula, Dill, Cilantro, Red Lettuces, kale, radishes, and basils all perpetuating themselves, giving me virtually effort free forage early in the season. I watch a lot of what you do and try to scale down, recreate, or mimic the effects. Some of my bins are on the 5th year, all produce and generate more propagation every year, and I’m always adding new groupings and configurations of my Guilds and Spring plant starts (toms, peps, eggplant, squash, etc). Thanks for the vid, ❤ it as always 😊
I know I'd be honored to have someone plant an oak in my memory someday.
Thanks for sharing. Love the idea of planting in memory of loved ones. I hope to be as thoughtful as you with my planting. Thankful that positive memories live on.
Sean, I'm so sorry for your loss; planting a tree in honor of your father creates another set of relationships in that guild, and I'm sure it will be a special guild to you. This video was helpful in seeing the evolution over time, and starting to understand how the relationships benefit the various participants.
Sorry to hear your sad news, and a beautiful idea having his memory live on in nature. Our best wishes from across the pond.
Those last words and sentiments - so beautiful. Thank you.
these videos are very helpful to get a understanding of the various possibilities and the thought process we can adopt when deciding where and what
that was a beautiful thing to hear how you're celebrating your father, thank you for sharing.
Thank you Sean and Sasha
Its always fascinating thinking about nominal determinism, your last name meaning people of the oaks , my last name in german refers to "people who make brushbundles" and me working as a gardener at a tree nursery who is fascinated by willows seems to match up quite weirdly , makes you think sometimes.. Sorry to hear about your loss, thank you for sharing something that personal, you always seem passionate and empathetic towards everything, and over the years, watching the videos you put out make it hard to not feel connected to you in some way, best wishes for you and your loved ones
Condolences for your father and what a fitting tribute. An oak that will last for ages.
What a beautiful way to memorialize your dad. I hope I get a similar honour when my days are done.
So sorry for your loss ..Sean...
And such a beautiful Tribute to Your Dad...🙏🏻

Beautiful tribute to your father. 💛✨🌱
Very sorry for your loss Sean. A great way to honor your father. Warm greetings from Poland mister Dąbrowski.
Condolences on the loss of your father. Great memorial of him.
That was very moving. We have also planted trees to remember our loved ones gone. I also like the idea of giving a birthday gift of a plant which flowers in the persons birthday season. So every year on their birthday it will be flowering.
So sorry for your loss. The oak tree is a beautiful tribute to your Dad.
You are amazing
I am so sorry for your loss, Sean. It will be a lovely space to remember him. you will be in our thoughts
I'm sorry to hear about your father passing. Planting an oak is a beautiful way to remember someone you love, and I'm sure it will bring you and future generations much pleasure and support as it grows.
So sorry for your loss. I appreciate you sharing that grief with us; I hope it helps you to have shared it. And I hope that oak gives your family many years of joy.
One of the most important videos he has shared so far. Mimicking symbiosis, forming guilds, succession...all great stuff. I really appreciated some working examples too!
LOVE the peach to pawpaw succession! Exactly what the pawpaw wants to do.
I'm so sorry for your loss. A fitting tribute to a keystone of your life.
I am sorry for the loss of your dad. And putting ashes with the oak tree is a lovely memorial. He raise a wonderful son.
What a great tribute for your father. My condolences. This seems like a lovely way to continue on your father's memory for decades to come. Be well Sean.
I've started a 'memorial' garden in my food forest for those that I've lost in my life.
I’m sorry about your father. When my father died it made me realize I owed it to him and myself to have a family.
I also am part polish. Thanks for your knowledge and passion as always.
That's just a beautiful memorial, Sean. So sorry for your loss.
Thank you Lisa
Long live the oak tree; may the blue jays and squirrels inherit our abundant paradise.

Wow, wasn’t expecting that. A very poignant moment. Lovely tribute.
Thank you for sharing a part of your life !
Take care !
Thanks for this great video. I'm just learning about permaculture and guilds, so I look forward to any more content on the guilds. Lovely tribute to your Dad!
So beautiful. Many blessings to you, your family, and your gardens.❤
Sorry for your loss..🤗🤗 my father passed away a couple months ago too. 🍒🌸 I got a couple LOW CHILL cherry trees and commission a chainsaw carved bench with his name.
Sorry for the loss of your father. What a wonderful way to remember him with an oak tree. Your guilds are really inspiring and I like how relaxed you are when something pops up that you didn’t plant.💕🌿
These types of videos are what originally got me deep diving into your videos. Many thanks friend. Another quality video!
Thank you for another load of lovely insights into guild possibilities, Sean. I was very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad; may his tree grow strong.
Thanks for the kind words here...
The Ashworth Burr Oak we planted in his honor was cut nearly flush to ground by a browsing rabbit this fall. I was upset at first but then I remembered that I have seen that happen over and over again with young nut trees... Rabbits cutting to ground the first year growth. The 2nd year they rebound with great vigor and take off and have a thicker trunk. So I'm hopeful for that and trust the rabbit got an energetically potent meal too. I suspect it is a win win but with a longer time scale than we're used to!
That must have been a bit of a shock, happening to a special tree. I hope that if it was cut only nearly to the ground, that there will be lots of new buds coming up soon and it may even grow up in an interesting form now, courtesy of one hungry rabbit.
Thank you for the wonderful video Sean very nice to have the oak planted for your dad.
I'm sorry to hear about your father. Best wishes
Oak memorial, perfect 💚
Sorry about your loss. May your father rest in peace.

Really inspiring stuff Sean. I'm doing my PDC and being able to visualise how close plants can go and how they adapt is wonderful. So sorry to hear about your father's passing. A wonderful reminder of him
Continuing my learning about guilds. Such a beautiful way to pay tribute to your dad. This 10 acre partial of nearly treeless grain field (with my help) may be reclaimed.
So sorry to hear about your father's passing on to the next world. I am sure he will be missed by his loved ones and friends. A tree is a great tribute.
Love the insight, very inspirational and informative! Thanks!
Condolence to your family, I’m sure he’s so proud of you all for the positive impact you’ve had on so many lives. Wishing you all health and healing.
awesome thx for sharing.
I’m sorry for the loss of your dad.
Stay strong
Look at that haircut! Looking dapper!
Here in Appalachian Pennsylvania we call them paw paw patches, Burl Ives has a great song called paw paw patch
Forgive my superficiality but you look so handsome with that lid! Sasha's a lucky lady :)
Aww schucks :)
Lovely video. Sorry for the loss of your Dad, the oak is a lovely gesture. Have you heard of a dwarf everbearing bush Mulberry? My space is small and my sun even smaller. We have wild mulberrys around but they seem to be a bit too big. I'd like something lower and less aggressive.
❤
*applause*
Just wondering if you have considered edible dahlias in your garden.
Question - I have been reading some of Sepp Holzer’s work and wondered if you have worked with lupines or foxgloves at all? I understand that they could have some aesthetic, nectar, and fertility yields.
We have Lupines around and they are super nice early in the spring. Foxglove a little bit but it seems they have faded out over time
what zone are you in?
You talk as if you purposefully planted the Peach tree with the expectation to die before it's reached it's potential....an excuse for growing a disarray orchard where neither of the trees can reach their full potential. By your planting definition it's impossible to grow a healthy orchard.
He planted with redundancy, and you can always cut a tree down later when you have excess. The peach helped support the paw paw because they need shade in their first few years. It looks great.
I bet any garden that you planted would be totally manicured and well trimmed evenly spaced with time and attention given to just the right amount of water and fertilizer and any dying leaves moved immediately and any insect that would even take a chance to munch would face an onslaught of chemicals and any birds or wild life would be dinged and harassed to no end... Just saying
I see by your screen name that you are a tree lover! If you're unfamiliar with the tenets of permaculture, this video may be baffling. It's a very different way of thinking about planting that includes care of the earth, continually building the soil naturally - regenerative farming. If you're curious, check out some of the related videos that RUclips lists here (or better yet, more Edible Acres video)s. If you're not interested, be well! But you might want to refrain from insulting something you don't understand.
@@trumpetingangel I could not agree more. I followed Edible Acres for years and could not agree more. 1 of the best custodial of the earth I came into contact with yet and appreciates all the produce the earth can and do provide. Cheers
@@antiowarr9467 Thank you. Most people are unfamiliar with what we do and why. I’d like to bring them into the fold. And there is no better way than via Edible Acres. I so appreciate Sean and Sasha’s gentleness. The videos are an antidote to much of life.
