The best group of musicians that have ever been. I can't even imagine what they'd be like, had they stayed together.

Some of the best musicians around, great sound, vocals and IMO Pat Flynn never got due credit for his guitar mastery during this NGR period. Thanks for sharin their music.

Think he needs that from anyone some folks hate being praised about a gift that they were given

I have lived a full and rewarding life, chock full of undeserved blessings. I count among the greatest blessings having had the opportunity to see this band live back in 1989. It was truly beyond amazing--four virtuosi with an obvious love of what they were doing playing to an appreciative crowd. They didn't miss a note in an almost two hour show. It's sad that they are now a part of history, rather than a vital element of our current culture.

My life story reads likes yours. Full and rewarding life, chocked full of UNdeserved blessings. I too got to see NGR live in a small venue in Houston in the "80s. Each musician is a master of their craft !

I love John holding that note on that chorus

Bela and Sam are considered one of the greatest if not the greatest masters on there instruments, Pat is super on guitar and John has one of the most amazing voices ever. Not to mention the unreal harmonies and the fact when they played live it was just like listening to one of their albums. Shame on the two thumbs down on the post!

My mom used to hang out with John back in the day. They said he could go swimming and stay underwater for ever cause of how long he could hold his breath haha

For me, the album this comes from, is one of the all time classics of Newgrass.

Sam played guitar on a few NGR songs over the years. Sam is also a wonderful banjo and bass player. He played Bass drum in high school in the marching band in Bowling Green, KY. John Has A Bling factor of 10 on this one!

@vidfreak32: Thanks for the reply - I'm truly amazed that he does smoke. Most vocalists that have a voice as strong and pure as his, don't smoke.
No matter what, I'm still knocked out by Cowan....wow, what a great singer.

Bela sang bass on a few of the NGR tunes over the years, and with a group called Spectrum (not sure on the spelling) and Tasty Licks before that. These were pre-NGR groups. These are great albums but very rare.

I can't help myself -- I keep wondering when John decided to be a blond (which really suits him). I'm sorry I didn't follow NGR back when they were together. I "discovered" them through John's vocal on "Oh, Darling" on Bela's two disc set.

they did not do alot of slow songs did they i dont think they did i think this is one of the only slow ones i remember ever see them doing.what album is this off of because i really would like to get a copy of it.they were not big time ballad singers this is one of the best songs i ever have heard of this band.i think these guys did not get a lot of credit where its due.
