We met these guys in Winfield Kansas in 1973 and invited them to headline our fledgling Telluride Bluegrass Festival, a game changer, and now Sam Bush has played on our stage for 50 years. Magic. Bravo the Fall Creek Band who did the trick. RIP Freddie.
When this song was released Heavy Metal bands started contacting John Cowan about singing lead because his voice was so powerful. His heart is in Bluegrass. His talent could take him anywhere he wanted to go.
4 of the best that ever played music in the bluegrass class of music. They took it to a whole new level that others will be trying to get to for years to come.
was on a ski trip to Lake Tahoe when these guys were first starting out and they were playing in the lounge of one of the casinos. Sat there in amazement every night and listened to them. Incredible muscians. Wish they were still together.
John & I did a movie shoot (Heart of Dixie) back in '87. It was set in the 50's and we were a party band. The hair and makeup people had a time pinning our mullets up and greasing our hair to look right for the time. Not a great movie, but we had fun.
@@katherinetoon2917 *pitterpatter* Personally, I love his long hair! Mullet would be ok, just a little too much hairspray!! Bring it own. And that voice... That voice...
Always something my ex wife said about this song that is perfectly true. It is like 4 minutr prozac be cause it"s almost impossible to be depressed when you'red listening to this.
I'm not into bluegrass so much but these guys really rock. The Dixie Chicks are great too. Both bands helped pull fans of other genre's to bluegrass/country combo like no other bands have.
Amazing. These guys are awesome. Too bad they didn't stay together. So progressive for their time. The Cowen, Fleck, Flynn, & Bush iteration were the best NGR of all.
@vidfreak32 I love this, and have since it was released - there are plenty of talented people making every genre of music. On top of that, I see & hear a LOT more integrity in metal these days than in country. Three words "Red Solo Cup."

Time for a New Grass Revival. I'd love to hear them together again....

Absolutely true story, the guy was amazing
This is amazing, unbelievable talent. To the 23 people who decided to push the Thumbs Down button, you are obviously NOT musicians. love Bonniexxxxx

John Cowan (lead singer) auditioned for Wynonna's band in `92; she said she didn't want someone who could sing better than her in the band.
Sam Bush hired him as bass player and heard him sing and made him lead singer, smart move.
Sam Bush said he was the lead singer. Cowan sang. He said I thought I was. All together...MAGIC!!!

They are to acoustic music what Queen were to rock: A foursome of unbelievable talent that changed their genre.
One day they will write stories about The Legend of John Cowans mulllet.
Yes, its to late baby, nothing can stop his legend now. His crazy hair is running out of control.
@@wahawaha541 CAAAAAAAAAAAAAN'T STOP NOW!

I can overlook the mullet with that voice.😎

I'm metalhead and I just heard this band.
It's GORGEOUS
Fantastic! saw them in Cork years ago.... our band played this song!!!
Bela Fleck was kicking ass way back in the day!!!!!!
All I can say is 'WOW"...this is actually the first time I heard Bela Fleck even though everybody talks about him...now I know why!
Going to go see Sam Bush this weekend!
Daaaaaaaaannnnggg! Boys are tight!
Such talented musicians who brought so much great music to so many!
in the moment I first heard this song these guys were masters of the universe
I don't think they have ever done as well as they did during this time before they went seperate ways. They where truly magical as New Grass Revival.
'The' boys...
Never before, never again...
-speechless-
As a musician myself I can honestly say that this song gears me up higher than a coke head on a 3 day binge! Whew!
Amen! John Cowan's voice is SICK!
I'm sittin' here wonderin' why I ever let myself fall...descending line, great. Iwas thinking the same thing.
Sam nods at Bela and away they go. Like a runaway frieght train....just a lot nicer to listen to!
Don't get no tighter than this!
I saw them at US Embassy Culture exchange.. in 1983 and changed my life.. ;-)
Just reiterating what I posted 2 years ago...love these guys! ❤
Endless joy

I love how all the others are jamming out like rock stars and Bela is standing there like a machine. A butt kicking banjo playing machine that is!
Incredible they were!!!❤
Incredible together these men are together ❤

Incredible!!!
Unbelivable guitar skills...especially 1:30 like it!
John Cowan's hair is to the 80's what Farrah Fawcett's was to the 70's.
This is one of my NGR favorites..... I lost a few of their songs a while back ...Thanks for reminding me to add them again !
Amazing musicians - Amazing voice !!! *sigh* :)
Can't stop listening!
This song is proof that when people say Country sucks they're talking about MODERN country.
I wish they would have kept recording!!! They are smokin hot!!!
Best group ever.
Amazing ❣️❣️❣️❣️👍👌
Brilliant!
Great Bluegrass Music
Awesome, I worn this CD out when it first came out!!
this thing is the best thing, in the history of things.
Sam waiting for his turn was killing him lol…
wow!
Can't stop noooow watching!
I like live version a little bit better , but i cant comment on that one.
NGR is just top level!
John Cowan is the freakin' man. Just sayin'. Love that guy.
beautiful
Extrodinary musicians
Incredible Skill!

I'd like to find the song they did on the Teluride 30th year DVD: "deeper and deeper"
Bloody hell!!!
🧡
That track is so "Fuck You" I can't stand it.....GREAT !!!
Ho lee shittt... what a band!!!
They didn't care what the industry was looking for. They just threw it down ...
Hi Darryl, you can get them from iTunes.
These guys are monster ass good !
Great performance, excellent picking
dizzy camera work
the producers try to make them look like a hair band
Acoustic METAL, now that’s fucking bluegrass
THE BEST!
shredding
Being a native of Dickenson Co. VA i should love Ralph Stanley but Newgrass rules.
There's no denying the musicianship here. Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, John Cowan's bad hair. It's all there.
I'm not a huge fan of 'videos' of any kind. But if you were going to introduce someone to bluegrass music by way of a video - this would be the one.
I have no idea what you're talking about...btw, Sam is one of the nicest guys you could meet.
isn't that the truth!
it must have been amusing watching each other dance around to no music (or their recorded track)
@Colt28683 flecktones?
They split up in 1990 so it had to be before then.
Tremendous talents, one and all - but Bush's showboating and scene-stealing got on my nerves then, and still does now.
Cowan sounds just like Elton John.
The lost boys were in a bluegrass band? Lol
musicians are great but camera operator sucks as usual.
i can't stand that dudes hair. great band though, i wish i never saw what they guy looked like though.
Can't stop listening!
