    Went looking for an assembly video for my new Shark Navigator DLX and thought "Well, learning some maintenance might be a good idea." So I watched this. This video is excellent. Shark should pay you for this and include it in the shipping box. What I especially like about it is that you have tied in the troubleshooting steps with maintenance steps so that basically the viewer sees an almost repeat of what the buttons and hoses do and how to take them apart and put them back together. Thanks for this very helpful video - it's bookmarked!

    Thank you SO much. I was getting ready to go out and buy a new vacuum cleaner. My husband tried to fix our Shark Navigator and was not successful with it. He was certain the motor was no good any longer. I watched only half of your video, and you showed me what the problem was. Pushing a broom into the hose found a gigantic obstruction at the very end of the opaque portion of the hose. (I accidentally broke the ribby part of the hose, but some duct tape took care of that for the time being). Now our vacuum is working just fine, and you saved me ... well, the price of a vacuum cleaner. I really cannot thank you enough. If you take donations, I would be glad to send you some money. You deserve it.

      Duct tape will not seal your hose leak, especially on the ribbed portion. Therefore as you vacuum, you will be breathing in the dust. Until you get a new hose, I advise wearing a dust mask. Me, I always wear a dust mask when vacuuming anyway, as most vacuums are not fully sealed. I also wear earmuffs to protect my hearing, similar to what landscapers wear when blowing leaves.

    I picked up a shark vacuum on the side of the road. Got home and it wouldn't suction. I'm like o this is why they threw it out. I was 1:17 in this video and found so much stuff in the hose. Spent 30 minutes getting everything out and now it works like new. Eight years later and this video is still helping. Thank you.

    Good Evening, I was going to throw my vacuum away after several attempts to find out the decrepancy with the suction. You are Amazing!!!!. After trying to clean the hose with a broom. I filled a bucket with hot water let it sit and all the dirty water came out with a clog of built up residue. I have it hanging on my shower head. I will put it in the sun to insure it dries out. I had it stored in my garage 2 years and forgot. I can't thank you enough. You are an excellent teacher. I appreciate your time.

    Man, thank you for taking the time to do this video. The problem that I have is the brush is spinning for 1-2 seconds and it stops and then I get the red light. It’s been cleaned throughout and the hose is clear,lots of power. Many are saying to change the belt but the belt looks like new. Thanks

    My daughter was given one of these and she said it didn't suck anymore. I started taking it apart and used a shop vac on blow mode to push the dust out of it just like you said. The top cyclone was packed with dust. I had to add the crevice tool to give it extra velocity and worked on it both directions for a good 5 minutes. I blew out all the foam pads and the hose and everything. Tomorrow its going to be 95 degrees and I'm going to wash the foam pads and put them out to dry in the sun. I figure it will be done in an hour. But so far, its like a new vacuum Thanks!!

    Thanks for the great video. It was very helpful!
    However, we've had our Shark Navigator for about 6 months, but only used it 3 times - as we were gone a few months. All hoses are clear, filters are clean and like new, and we only had to empty the canister once when it had about 1 1/2" of dust. HOWEVER, after we first assembled it, and again today when we went to use it, the roller brush had no light. The first time, we removed the brush assembly as you suggest, re-clicked it on, and it worked well. Today, I carried the vacuum up the stairs to use it - no brush roller light again. I've removed the assembly and re-attached it, three times, to no avail.
    All this to say that I sure do appreciate the video that demonstrated that we did everything correctly, and still have had the brush issues two out of three times using it. and now I'll be calling Shark on Monday. The couple of times we've got it to work, it was wonderful - but who wants to have to reassemble the vac every time it's taken out to use!!! And now, after following every step, the brush won't turn at all.

      +Granny K If you have a voltmeter check to see if you have 115-120 coming out of the connection between main, canister part, and the roller head. I found that I had voltage coming out from the canister. When I connected the roller head the roller started up, but when I wiggled the roller head at this connection, I found I was loosing power to the head. Therefore the electrical connection is not 100%, so I am going to jam something around the square plastic connection to see if the power will maintain.

    • @grannyk4265
      @grannyk4265 8 лет назад

      +Michael Schmitt Thanks again, Michael. I finally did call Shark and found that the solution to my issue was beyond simple! I was just not positioning the vacuum correctly to get the brush rolling!! I'd turn in on, THEN bend the handle back to start vacuuming. However.... a very kind and helpful agent informed me that the brush will only start rolling if you turn on the switch AFTER you bend the handle back into the vacuuming position. Crazy, I know, but it works great now. The agents at Shark have been great, by the way.
      This is my second bagless vacuum, (my other vac is a honkin' huge Sears Performance bagless Direct Drive. It'll pick up anything, and the canister is super easy to empty!) The shark is much lighter, and I use it for my finished basement carpet and/or bare floors. I'd never go back to bags! Love it! Love it!

    Great video man! I learned a few things. You forgot one part though, cleaning out the metal screen attached to the fine cyclonic dirt filter. It can get pretty caked up with dirty after awhile and I usually just take a wet paper towel to it and then let it dry.

    Hi LogDog,
    Just wanted to say thanks I was having an issue with my shark (same as in the video) and turns out it was in the hose (needed to be stretched) and after following the troubleshooting tips I saw the huge ball of fur (cat) that was stuck in the hose.
    I followed all your maintenance tips in the video and now it runs like new again. My sincerest thanks to you for taking the time to make this video. It really helped me out.
    Thanks and keep up the great videos! :D

    I have a different model than either in the video, the navigator swivel deluxe. It most resembles the old shark in the video, but doesn't have a removable cyclone assembly at top of canister. It appears to have a cyclone assembly, but it doesn't remove for cleaning, or I don't see how. Thanks so much for all the information, I've cleared my hose, washed the filters, and will try again in 48 hrs. It will surely work better even without cleaning the clyclone assembly. Well done, very useful.

    Your vid was very informative! I just found one of these in the trash yesterday. I presume yours is the model NV22L, which is the one I found (my 2nd Shark). The motor in mine runs, but it does not drive (spin), probably because the brush is clogged with hair. I doubt if my belt is broken as there is a little resistance when I try spinning it with my hand. Though I notice the brush roll squeaks (may need oiling). I just cleaned out the dirt bin and all the filters, which are now all waiting to dry. I will next declog the main brush roll, as well as the pet brush attachment brush roll. The only attachment missing was the turbo brush.
    Since 2014, I have found around 40 vacuum cleaners in or by the dumpsters in our huge apartment complex. Most are Bissells, Dirt Devils, and Hoovers, and a few Eurekas. I found one Riccar in pieces that I (with help from the shop) managed to salvage (see RUclips series "Salvaging Riccar R10S.2 SupraLite Found in Pieces").Most I have been able to salvage. A few I keep (the Navigator may well be a keeper), but the rest I give to friends/family or to the Goodwill, either to sell, or as scrap. I hate landfill that can be avoided.

    • @nonelost1
      @nonelost1 2 года назад

      I finally managed to salvage my lavender navigator (model NV22L, like yours) after letting it sit in my apartment for months. This is thanks to my having found a white shark navigator “professional” (model UV 420 26) in the trash just a couple of weeks ago. It had the exact same problem as my lavender one, namely, the brush roll derailed on the non-belt side, clogged with cat hair. Anyway, I cannibalized a black plastic end piece and a bearing out of it to put on my lavender navigator. Now it works. I scrapped my other one as it was definitely the worse for wear.

    Great video, thanks so much. The beater brush wasn't turning, and no green light. I took the floor head off and put it back on, and magic. Good as new! I don't know what it does, must reset something?

    Really well done! I have a Bissell that is really poor with filtration no matter how much I clean it. When I'm done vacuuming, the device is literally dustier on the outside than when I started. Do these sharks keep their dust contained well?

    Informative. Thank you. I was actually looking for info on the Hepa filter - like how often to change it and what it means if it suddenly turns BLACK (not dark brown or gray like it would from dirt) and it seems like a lot of air is flowing out from that space. My Shark is only 2 months old. So, luckily, it's still under warranty.

    You ROCK young man. This was easy to understand and follow. I get great suction, but still no brush roll indicator light. Do the lights blow out?
