I love crew cab trucks I want to own one day and thank you for what you do I enjoy watching your videos definitely after the couple weeks I'm having with my father having cancer and my aunt dying from a stroke
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You purchased a nice rig with repair work. It's more than I would try, but, you're the man to get it completed. Duff is always having fun. Look how he craves camera time. He's a fine fine dog. Very much an enjoyable video!
@@MortskeRepair Hey man! I wanted to commend you on what a great job you did handling that 🤔 10-12" BIG D(rum)‼️🙋🏿♂️ You're a real hands on kinda fella when it comes to rear ends & big D's 🤷🏼💩💩
Happy Birthday Mortske! Cool rig...can't wait to see how it turns out and thanks for another Mortske Monday! Thank you guys for busting your keister to bring us along 🐾🍺
The Suburban Igloo dig was awesome, which gives me an idea. Make your garage one big Igloo. With all the snow as insulation your heating bill would be cut in half....of course you would have to work out minor details, like how to get in and out....
I cant wait to see more of this build. I love dropped dual wheel trucks, especially crew cab square bodies! Duff trying to steal the spot light at the end was Awesome.
Great episode! Finding an unfinished project is always amazing! Love the lowered look on custom dually trucks. With the airbags and the gooseneck this will be a sweet, sweet tow rig. Great job 👏 Looking forward to how this does on the long road trips. I had a "Choo Choo" conversion truck back in the late 90's - they even mounted a small TV in the dash 😅
Nice work! The rear anti-sway bar is necessary when towing something like a 5th. wheel so you don't get into a death wobble situation. Same thing with the missing front strut bar or whatever that's officially called. Really all it takes is a couple of bushings to be worn out and if you've ever gotten into a death wobble hauling a trailer you really pay attention to all those suspension bits and pieces.
I had a neighbor who had that happening right after he got new tires. It'd start up when he was on new or newer asphalt roads. He swapped tires side to side -- problem solved. It's weird like that.
You're misusing the term "death wobble." It means the unchecked side-to-side oscillation of the front wheels due to too little caster or poor longitudinal axle location. You're describing an instability between front and rear ends, I think, but it's hard to read through the poor word choices.
What I'm referring to is widely publicized and recognized. Lack of caster, poor steering geometry, oversized tires, poor axle location due to bent panhard rod/mounts, etc. Lifted Ford Superduty trucks, Jeeps, Dodge trucks, etc. Just google deathwobble.
You speak jive, lol!!! When I was 17 ,and Illinois got snow. I dug a tunnel under a 79 catileana, to swap the trans.out. 1 1/2 hrs Shevlin. 3 hrs swapping. Wasn't bad till my coveralls soaked through. By then I was buttoning up linkage, cooling lines and tork bolts. 👍👍.
Now this is a project truck I can get behind! Gotta love a crew cab dually! She looks absolutely mint with the drop 👌 Cheers for all the content, you do go above and beyond to get videos out every Monday for us unwashed heathens 🤣
Good Morning Mort love that 85 Dually SQB! Please keep up the awesome videos! and have a great rest of your day!
I had a truck just like that, it still had the 454 in it. It ran great, but dang was it a gas hog! I got it for $600 the school finally upgraded their maintenance trucks and sold their old ones and I got one. That's a cool truck and I'm sure it will make a great tow pig. Thanks for sharing! 🙂👍
My engineering degree says that you should have 'radiused' the corners of your cut in the frame rail by drilling a hole then cutting to that hole (If need be and probably oversize your notch to those holes). But dang nice truck for 4500. My '81 flatbed is mint and I laugh when people ask if I would sell it for 5000. And jeezus your an '85 model? Man I did not know I was older than you, dang that makes me feel old now. I tend to agree with the 2-3 threads sticking out of any nut, but you can tell if is a decent 'lock' as you put them in, that one is for you to sleep easy. You should put a set of nice seats in that truck. Either from the salvage yard or spend the big bucks and make us jealous, your butt will thank you!
Thomas, thank you for proving the old adage that while some people are coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs, other people are coo-coo for lowered air bag suspensions!

Little tip. Put some bearing buddies on the front hubs. Makes it where you can regrease the bearings without taking it apart. I got a set on my dually. It has been a god sent. Plus it hides behind any wheel and cover

Due to the low mount thermostat it’s easier if you fill the engine block with coolant “First” through the upper radiator hose; then fill the radiator. This helps eliminate the huge air bubble in the block. Tip 2 add 2x 1/8” bleed holes to your thermostat to help. 👍
