Mario chose to live a life of appearences to keep his career over his love for Leon. Leon moved on, and Mario paid the price. It's a beautiful message, it's not a happy one but definitely true to reality. Overall a very sweet movie.

This was a great film. Chemistry is SOOOOO important between the leads in any film, but especially so in love stories. If the chemistry is not there, it’s just not believable, and viewers won’t connect with the characters. These guys had an amazing chemistry. I loved the story and the acting. While it had a sad ending, I would have liked to see these guys remain together, it was completely understandable why things ended up the way they did. Great film which I highly recommend! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻

Erick C yes this would be perfect! Leon gets drafted back into a major soccer team and they have to compete at the highest level! And in the end they kiss on the court, and they are so good and so high profile, it won’t matter if they’re gay or not because they’re so good at soccer!

Oh my God this movie was amazing I did not want to stop watching it, I did not want it to end, the story was so authentic with real emotions. I'm glad the soundtrack wasn't heavy. Sometimes silence helps you really understand the character. I wish they created a part 2 to show him and Leon back together but honestly I work in sports and this happens all the time. When a movie sticks with you for over a week you know it’s good! Such a crazy circumstance while trying to go pro. Loved it even more because I took German for years and I kinda got some of what they said without the subtitles!
I'M really felt bad for leo after watching this movie. I remember leo's dialogue " i know it looks weird but I fell in love with you " and my heart is hurting too much at that time because their organization want to separate them. And when mario realize that he should choose his love then it is late😔
That moment with the whale keychain was in my opinion the sweetest and one of the best natural acting scene so much is conveyed in that moment. The looks of adoration but the regretful reservation forced upon them to not express it. This sport does have gay players but things like these have not changed....

In some of the comments Leon tells Mario he does not love him anymore. The subtitles tell a different story. Leon said to Mario. It cannot work with us. I can never go back to that. There have been enough happily out athletes though that don't have to go through the sadness of these two and I feel that should have influenced a more hopeful note than a punishing depressing one.

Still frustrated for Leon's outcome, he deserved a lot better! He was flushed down the drain together with his dreams. I hoped the society will evolve better to give equal chances for everyone in whatever fields they choose to foray. Mario's was a bitter pill to swallow it was an outcome of his choices. I hoped they delved more deeply with Mario's relationship with his father, his coming out, and the karma of his colleagues. Nonetheless it was still worth the watch.
I felt more bad for Mario Leon was always gonna find someone else he has a history of doing so. Leon was Mario’s first real gay relationship I think Mario will never find another Leon and might be single forever because he only really wants Leon
