This was very enjoyable! The acting was natural and storyline was really cute. I LOVED how this wasn't about a guy coming out to his parents or the school. Seems like that has already been resolved with seemingly positive results. It's tiring to constantly hear storylines centering around a teen coming out and facing adversity because of it. Yeah, that threw me off a bit too, but it's still very cute. It would have been perfect if they had actors who actually looked the part or changed up the story and setting a bit so the actors fit better.
Lately, the RUclips algorithm has been showing me a run of LGBT short films. This one is perhaps my favorite thus far. Though, generationally, I'm far-removed from the high school era, watching Andrew's doe-eyed enchantment with Ricky and his athleticism, feelings soaring with any small gesture of nicety, transports me back to that time, as did his body-image issues, fear of rejection, and feeling like a fish out of water around athletics. Andrew's mom and her nuggets of encouragement were gems, and I'm delighted that the film didn't end in tears of sadness.
