Love the new addition of the captions highlighting the “water temp, lure being used” etc. Great video gonna try some my popper style lures for some snook and trout this spring!
I used these 'poppers' extensively in freshwater. Drives fish crazy to hear that 'ploop..... ploop, ploop'. In saltwater I've caught trout and snook with them. They seem to work best in the AM or PM when the sun is low or when cloudy. Even at night, under a light. A rod with a fast tip works best to get the right action. I use a loop knot on flouro leader. There is nothing like top water strikes!
The Storm chug bug in the 3 1/4” length is an absolute killer in both fresh and salt water. There is something about that flash dressed rear hook and the tail sink at rest that drives gamefish crazy. I have fished many different poppers throughout my years but none beats the cig bug on a consistent basis. My go to color is red head white body in saltwater and baby bass in fresh.
❤the Poppa Mullet! Walks in place like a dream. I install a tail feathered treble, great when stalling. Very deadly for slick calm conditions too. Would like to see a larger size. I’ve tried the poppa dog, didn’t care for it
That Popa Mullet is the bomb. It's my go to topwater. Not only for the variations in retrieve, but I tend to fish on the move, between .5 and 1 MPH and the Popa Mullet can easily be worked when slack or a belly forms in the line due to boat movement. The retrieve on the classic dog walking lures tend to suffer when that happens.
I wish I had better luck with poppers. Popping corks work for me but I don't think I ever got a bite with a popping plug. But I never tried the walking types. Maybe it's time. There's a lot of bait breaking the surface early in the mornings lately so topwater should be good. I should put down the jigs and try poppers.
"Alternate" top waters can use a dropper behind with a hair jig or soft-plastic. Get a loud pop with an old style "Lucky 13", give it a diving wobble, then pause for the trailer. Repeat as needed.

Appreciate that kinda feedback Alan
Poppers are my go to for bass and inshore. It kind of seems like a forgotten bait around here and usually produces good results for me.

I have the same lure .But I haven't used it yet. The Z-Man Mulletron softbaits have been getting it done. Thank's for the info!
You had me at topwater 😍
My favorite time of year for the splashy lures for sure
I love to pop for jacks. But I’ve caught everything under the sun as by catch
Perhaps this question could be answered in another video?
When do MIRROLURE prop or dual prop baits work the best?
We will talk about that one soon!
With a weightless hook would the darterz float? Seems like it could be a great needle fish presentation.

How do you like that Zillion compared to you shimano casting reels?
Gotta be honest it’s definitely longer casting for sure
How about Rebel Pop R's?
