Whose turn is it to go outside and find out what that unearthly roar was?
I did it last time
(looks outside) "All clear! There's nothing to --" (loud scream, suddenly shuts off, silence follows)
(crewman inside) "Let's draw straws again."
*takes revolver out of mouth* “UGGH FIINNNEE I’ll go”
@@pnz6ausfj779 After all, "No guts, no glory."
(one shot is heard, followed by several others, then silence; a dragon's face peeks into the cave; the gun is held by one of the dragon's forepaws)
Dragon: "Anyone know where I can get more ammunition? I'm out. Also, thanks for the target practice. I'll take anyone who's stupid, foolish, and overly confident."
First crewman: "Don't look at me. I'm just minding my own business."
Second crewman: "He's perfect. All yours."
First crewman (sarcastically): "Thanks."
Second crewman (grins): "You're welcome."
First crewman: "But what if you're next?"
Second crewman: "I'll take my chances. He might not be hungry by then. Want me to pour some BBQ sauce on you?"
First crewman: "Does he like BBQ sauce?"
Dragon (grins and nods): "Oh yes!"
Hey guys so I overslept I was suppose to go but I saw my name got signed in the log and I checked the camera and I went but it wasn’t me I was asleep so was that ? Am I still dream and you guys are playing around ?
Whatever it is, it's weird and pissed off
"See when a man bleeds it's just tissue, but the blood from one of you things won't beg when it's attacked, it fight back, try to survive".
Where's Clark.?...Right here...
Oh, those vibes... "Why don't we just... wait here for a little while? See what happens"
how will we make it? Maybe we shouldn't :}
The Thing, by John Carpenter, will always be a timeless classic in Sci-fi horror. I was 16 when it came out in theaters and it freaked me the hell out. Hated watching all the dogs suffer and die though with no way to escape it.
Well , technically they didn't die...
@@ihavecojones They were just absorbed and repurposed. :)
Kind of ironic that it's now considered one of the best horror films of all time, because when it came out, it had very negative reviews ^^
Just goes to show that reviews aren't truth.
AND Carpenter wrote all the creepy music, too!
I loved the Thing.
What the heck is in the window to the upper right?
"I tell you, it could be any one of us. And we need to stick together. And where the hell is walkins?"
"He went out to the service station."
"He can't do that it's twenty below he will freeze up there."
"What if he is not human."
Then they hear someone outside the door, and then the door knob slowly turns. They no who ever is out side it's not Watkins.
Really gutted to see all your "The Thing" ambience videos are no longer available - I really loved the one of the outpost that mixed in the howling wind and dogs barking along with the theme tune. Any chance these will be put back up?
I can't use the dogs and the actual Thing music because it is copyrighted...all the old audios are on my patreon
Awesome, I will subscribe - was hoping they might still be available somewhere else!

@@ArmchairAmbience I think if you just added some rhythmic bass sounds that give half of the main bass melody with a similar synth noise you can get away with that. I might have to check out your patron as I’m curious what the older pieces sound like
You woke up in this station but found out that all your collogues were gone and they left in such a hurry that they didn't even bother to wake you up.

This reminds me of a game called Zariya, where (if i remember correctly) you're commanding a team of astronauts on the moon sent to investigate a strange signal. Soon enough you try to keep everyone alive on the mission. It's kind of like a text based game with some cool, eerie pictures. It was sick playing it
Looks like it's called Zarya-1: Mystery on the Moon. It's on Steam, looks cool.
very nice, a different take on horror to be sure!
That was Zarya-1: Mystery on the Moon and I have it on Steam, yes, very cool game and atmospheric...

Nice
I cant express how much badass this is

When The Thing was released in 1982 I was 11 years old. My dad and I drove to the San Bernardino mall to have his car worked on. While waiting, we decided to kill some time by watching a movie at the nearby theater. Neither of us knew a the thing about The Thing but the start time for the next showing worked out. I was blown away. Other than Alien, I hadn't seen anything with that good of a story and special effects and music. I wish Hollywood quit making all these comic book movies and got back to a variety of good shit.
Holiwood too busy now with woke stuff and alike. No good movies anymore.
Amen to that, bro!
or that they had the BALLS to make the comic movies true to the comic books stories!! Then you would have kick ass stuff I can assure you
1982 was hectic. I actually just saw E.T. and 2010.
May 14, 1982: Conan the Barbarian
June 4, 1982: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
June 11, 1982: E.T.
June 25, 1982: Blade Runner
June 25, 1982: The Thing
July 9, 1982: Tron
December 1982: 2010: Odyssey Two
Amazing atmosphere, I love it. So brooding and dark
Like Lego Batman. lol j/k 🦇
I normally don't comment on these videos, I just let the music run in the background while I work. But who else sat there and stared at the visuals with the music going and basically watched an entire movie playing out in their imagination?
I did 🙂
He smashed up all the equipment and vehicles pretty good, and he killed the rest of the dogs.
"You guys think I'M crazy! Well, that's fine! Most of ya don't know what's goin' on around here, but I'm damn well sure SOME of you do! D'ya think that thing wanted to be an animal? No dogs make it a thousand miles through the cold! No, you don't understand! That thing wanted to be US! If a cell gets out, it could imitate everything on the FACE OF THE EARTH! AAAAND NOTHING can stop it!"

Definitely using this for my next playthrough of the The Thing The Boardgame!
Why don't we just... wait here for a little while... see what happens?
This video made me go through classes, training and eventually become a graveyard security guard for a freight company outpost on the water. It snows out here and winter is approaching. I will be listening to this soundtrack to remind me why I joined. The good vibe. Thanks Armchair :)
It got so cold because our generator broke down 10 times ans then the company yelled at me for not spending my money to buy gasoline. Lef the company. Moving to Montana now to get an even colder job site.

Aside from the terrifying otherworldly creature I'd love to spend some time in a place like this, seems relaxing haha
My dad got me to watch The Thing when I was a teenager, it was so damn scary especially with all the practical FX. I love the original Alien and Predator movies too for that reason, hardly any cheap CGI. Thanks for this ambience, it helps me work :D

Even knowing all the psychological traps and pitfalls that happen to researchers out in the Arctic when they're in small isolation labs I still would love to live in one, something about getting that close to absolute solitude that it encroaches upon post-apocalypse vibes is unreal
I imagine that being stuck in that situation would be amazing if you're a writer, especially if you write about themes of loneliness and isolation. That's about as close to the source as you can possibly get minus an actual Apocalypse.
A few years back I took a job in a remote village in Alaska - at its most populated (June - August), there would be about 300; when I got there mid April there were less than 10.I got a ride when they came into the city for supplies. It took us 8 hours to get from Anchorage to Chitna where the pavement ended; the rest was dirt road for another 60 miles. Because of the glaciers over the roads, it took us another 8 hours to go those 60 miles. I have never experienced such fright in my life even though I'm an extreme introvert and thought this was what I wanted. I would go outside and just see nothing around me but mountains and glaciers. Almost totally silent, I could hardly keep from just screaming at the top of my lungs; knowing I was stuck there just made it worse. When people showed up it got better but the only thing to do was hang out in the saloon and watch people drink. The job was supposed to be year-round but luckily they had to do lay-offs due to a slow season there. Needless to say, I was very happy.
@@rickrigdon5565 That sounds like an intense experience. Thinking about it, I can see how easy it could be to let your thoughts slip into a bad place being that far away from everything. You're really on your own out there, and if things go wrong...hmmm...
@@neonlovegalaxy Definitely. Mail was flown in once a week. Any health problems or accidents had to be flown to the nearest hospital - hours away. All phones and internet was dependent on satellites that would not work due to heavy fog or cloud cover; McCarthy is an interesting town with a long mining history - the road actually ends a mile and a half away from the town - you have to cross a river to get to it. One bridge (a foot bridge) was owned by the state; the other was privately owned and you had to buy a license from them to use it for vehicles. Unfortunately while I was there in July, the river rose and destroyed the vehicle bridge. Thus, supplies weren't readily available, propane couldn't be delivered for electric, etc. Then the bears were always breaking into cabins for food. I have a lot of respect for the folks that live there and return every year. It's not for me. I never thought I needed anyone but I quickly learned I was wrong.
The Thing and Blade Runner are my favourite Sci-Fi movies. Not everyone knows that they were released on the same day, June 25, 1982, an interesting cosmic coincidence...
Is this Russian scientific outpost located in Vostok Antarctica 👌 🤔.
thething.fandom.com/wiki/U.S._Outpost_31
The kind of music that plays when the group goes outside to search for a missing member of the crew only to find him a little ways out completely mutilated by some thing. Something big and as everyone starts to panic the protagonist is just looking beyond where the eye can see, out into the snow storm as he can see a slight shape, a figure of some kind. As the others panic he says in a calm voice everyone get inside. The others can't hear over the arguing as he says it again, then yells it. As the crew hears the shape in the snow storm roar, they all get quiet. Our hero let's out one last everyone get the fuck inside, NOW!

This has 70s or 80s horror movie vibes to it.
well, it's a tribute to the 80's horror movie that's set at antarctica outpost number 31, so...
I can see myself working at antarctic research station
I must be high. It looks like a snow storm in slow motion. I don't care what it is. If it has that moving motion like raining snowing lights blinking it just gives it more life. It really looks like something is happening. I don't like when it's a picture and nothing moves but there's sound
While I was listening to this I was also idly playing a game on my phone. It started playing an ad, so I put it down and watched the effects of the video. After a moment I kept hearing a faint, almost unnoticable voice saying "Help Me!" over and over, like a glitching message. I thought it was from the ambiance, so I turned up the volume and went back to see if I could figure out if I heard right. But I couldn't hear it anymore, no matter how hard I listened. I was kinda freaked out, but then I glanced back at my phone and saw a little cartoon character with a giant 'Help Me' speech bubble over their head. Turns out I had heard a repeated voice line just barely loud enough to get through my headphones
The dark night unveils its secrets to me. I know whats out there, and how to hunt it.

This thing doesn’t want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It’ll fight if it has to, but it’s vulnerable out in the open. *Splinter cell* remake is what I got on my mind while watching this
The outpost was located in the Arctic Circle. It was the last human hearth lost in the midst of kilometers of snow and glaciers. Nobody knew what it was for. But it was rumored that horrendous experiments on human guinea pigs were being carried out in the basement. Men sent to life imprisonment that no one would miss.
When Mitch and I arrived at the base, we found it quiet. Nobody came to welcome us. It seemed that no one was there. Just a bitter cold that got under your skin and went right down to your bones. Once inside, we were horrified by what we saw. Blood and viscera everywhere. The corridors were a pool of blood. What the hell had happened?
- We have to get the helicopter back - Mitch said. - I don't want to stay in here a minute longer.
When he was about to go, I stopped him by the arm. - Wait. We don't know what happened. And the chopper won't be back for three days. We are isolated.
Mitch looked around anxiously. - Whatever happened...
A metallic screech made us jump. It was coming from behind the pressurized steel door a couple of meters from us.
- What was that? - Mitch asked.
The pressurized steel door was hurled away with violence and a huge monstrous figure with serrated teeth and hairy body roared loudly.
- Shit!

The atmosphere is perfect for... about everything.

All people have different ways, but personally I am constantly more energetic in winter, sometimes I go home, walk next to the tall pipes of the power station, I feel it's hugeness and coldness, but at the same time warm that it gives to town and excitement that human can build this, only winter gives me such impressions, only in winter I can go out into a blizzard of -15 degrees, just to take a couple of photos the puffing pipes of factories: climb high hills with friends, just to fall of them again and again, until someone get tired.
Winter affects my brain somehow, encourages to do childish or dangerous things and get emotions from everything around.
The best time of the year.
You’re hardly alone. Remember the ending of the book Brave New World? When the ‘rebellious’ couple is given a choice for their permanent exile, and it is assumed they’d want something warm and relaxing? And instead the man says, just the opposite; something cold and harsh, where they’ll have to struggle just to survive.

This is truly precious. Your channel deserver much more exposure -- you are precise, authentic and structured, yet very creative and edgy. You clearly demonstrate you understand the vibe -- which is a hard task for itself --, and add your unique touch to it. Some settings this ambience fits:
- The wrongly accused exile, roaming the badlands trying to survive and clear his name, silently scavenging an abandoned outpost, unknowingly occupied by marauders.
- Post military invasion of a state turned authoritarian, where you are sneaking into a guarded outpost in the winter night. You don’t understand the language of the invaders.
- Science researcher alone with a colleague in the artic, unknowing of the mysterious sea creature that has roamed the area of the outpost for decades. It can walk on land, and learned human languages.
- Post zombie apocalypse, in a guarded research facility in the snow. You and some scientists are desperately figuring out a cure and examining the corpses of the zombies put back to rest. It’s unknown if you’ll ever go home or find a cure.
