- How to do a full service on the VW Polo 1.2 TDI
Sump plug 19mm - torque requirement 30Nm - washer not replaceable.
Oil filter torque requirement 25Nm
Oil capacity 4.3 litres
Fuel filter Mahle KL778
Air filter Mann C15008
Cabin filter Mann CU26010
Oil filter HU7017z

When the oil filter is unscrewed, oil will drain out of the filter housing down into the sump so don't replace the sump plug till after the new filter is fitted. Also, I recommend getting the top of a soap dispenser, pushing a bit of pipe onto the pickup tube and it using to suck the small pool of oil out of the filter housing when the filter is removed. Well done on using Mann filters, excellent quality brand.
Thank you! I’ve stopped bothering as much with removing every bit of oil because it’s actually nothing compared to what is left in the engine. If you had the sump removed you’d probably find another half litre of oil would drain out overnight.
@@IAMASPANNER perhaps do the oil change just after the engine has been running for a bit, so that the oil flows better
Clock work service , note as you did ensure the large oil seal is sat in the 3 grove down from the top and Not the top grove.

What about 2nd fuel filter that is located under the fuel tank, in front of right back wheel? The Volkswagen says it should be replaced every 3rd service, so just want to hear your experience with that? Thanks!

Hi Bozidar, I wasn’t aware of a second fuel filter? This is the same location as all the fuel filters I’ve done on VW diesels so far.
Maybe the filter location was underneath the fuel tank for the previous gen polo (mk4)..
Saw some video..check...

Thanks Rhys, I have always got away without priming, cycling the ignition a few times works as long as the car has a pre-delivery pump in the fuel tank.
I have just brought a Vw polo 1.2 tdi 2012 ,would this have a dual mass fly wheel ? As there’s a knocking noise on the engine ,but when you press the clutch it stops ,
It will have a dual mass flywheel, yes.
For the cabin filter, the air flow is from the passenger side (left) to the driver side (right)..rit..?

Away from the motor and towards the matrix so that does sound correct.

I have the same car. Did u prime the fuel filter or something before starting it? Seen videos where people have to prime the pump and looks complicated
Yes you have. This guy did not prime it because he is doing things wrong and can damage the filter easily.

thanks for the video, very informative. are you sure it's actually 4.3L of oil, because i have read that it's 2.8L but that might be for gasoline engines.
Diesel engines do usually take more than petrol.

I couldn’t get it off at all, kept trying and trying. My friend walked over and got it off straight away! It seems the more you try the harder it gets. I hope you got sorted!
You gotta push it like plugging it in then the clips will activate so u can press them and pull it out

Does the car have to be level when you drain the engine oil or can it be on it side because I only have 1 jack ?
It doesn’t need to be level, you’ll just need it to be level when checking the level of the oil afterwards.

A little bit yes, there’s always some vapour inside the engine when running.
A good oil for this engine that will decrease the oil consumption

It’s a diesel, it doesn’t have spark plugs.

How is the oil consumption? Mine consumes 1 liter per 10000 km
This isn’t my car so I don’t know but to be honest 1 litre per 10,000 km is pretty normal for a diesel, if not even more than that.
I have the same car , i drive 20000 between service interval , and mine consumes about a half liter of oil on this kilometers , this shoud be pretty normal .

Agreed but in some cars such as this you can get away with it as the lift pump works and the pipes don’t airlock.
