    This was meant to be LCD Soundsystem's last song, as the closer of their final album. What an amazing musical farewell, tying in the vocal chorus of Dance Yrself Clean and bringing together the entire album's themes of "home". According to James Murphy, the bassline even references Losing My Edge, the song that introduced the world to LCD Soundsystem. This is my favorite song of theirs

    • @janvandorst808
      @janvandorst808 2 года назад +7

      All of that and also, 'Home' is the first lyric of Sound of Silver. The song sort of ties everything up nicely. Amazing!

    I heard LCD Soundsystem for the first time on May 5th 2018.. my brother bought his wife tickets to see the yeah yeah yeahs at the Hollywood bowl on the filth for their anniversary... little did he know that she bought him the same tickets for the day before.. so being the loving brother he is he gave me and our younger brother the tickets for the next day. I was excited to see the yeah yeah yeahs.. and had only heard the name LCD Soundsystem at the time. Never heard any of their songs. The yeah yeahs yeahs played about an hour which was great but left me feeling a little disappointed. Now I had to sit through a band that I never heard before and hope that I like it.. while noticing the bowl becoming increasingly more packed I found it a little confusing.. the crowd went nuts as LCD stumbled onto the stage and just started playing.. I began to think that they were were a bigger deal than I thought... they opened with get innocuous! And instantly I was zoned in. Completely transfixed by this group I had never heard. Suddenly I looked around me and noticed that the aisles were willed with people dancing. Everyone together.. it was an amazing sight. Random people even came up to us and pulled us to dance with them. Even tho we didn’t know any of the songs or any of the lyric which was my only regret. But even still that night ended up being life changing for me. LCD Soundsystem taught me how to live that night.. I slowly began picking apart every one of James Murphys songs discovering the meanings and feelings and experiences behind each of them and realizing that I relate to them all. I even cried watching their Long Goodbye concert even tho I know they aren’t disbanded anymore I still felt the emotion of losing them. They are more than just a show they are an experience.. they are feelings and emotions and that’s how they bring everyone together. I can now say that after that one night and 2 and half hours of epicness they became one of my all time favorite bands. And I’m so glad they didn’t stay disbanded because if they had who knows if I ever would have discovered them. P.s. my younger brother recently graduated high school and had a music themed party which I DJ’d for. And he said we have to play “Home”. So we did and just to prove to you how incredible LCD Soundsystem is.. every single person at that party which was probably about 130 young and old were on that dance floor jumping up and down singing the “ah’s” none of them having heard the song before. It was a very special moment that proved to me how great of a group LCD Soundsystem is. Thanks for everything!
