to me this is perfection....no better band or arrangement..... and i only them 18 months..... never seen them live and never will.... my 1 true regret......
Perfect example. James , Nancy, Pat, Tyler, Gavin, and the rest of the DFA crowd........nailed it. Its one thing to burn a tune to a file, and spread its joy digitally. Its another thing entirely, to not only perform it live, but to individually, or as a team, as a group, as a sound system, succeed with the exploitation of the energy of the audience. LOOK at those people! This is NEW YORK techno at the tip of the pyramid. Now, Shut Up and Play the Hits.........should be in your theater-room blue-ray player...........along with a panda.
Coolyards Totally agreed! This song is like a coiled spring that just keeps on building and building and while you think it's a pretty basic chord/ simple lyrics but the percussion and Nancy's synth layering a combination of deep bass lines and the high-range riffs just take over you. I almost exploded hearing this live haha
I really like the bit around 6:23 where it feels like the song is ending and decaying but the drum groove picks up and it just keeps going
Most fun you can have with a single chord for 10 minutes
8:58 Donald Glover! Damn. That's rad.
My favorite live performance of all time
This song has an intensity like no other! Is palpable that everyone, both on stage and in the crowd, is felling this music!!!
'felling' ??
@@williamwallace5857 yes.
@@professionalhater66 Feeling not felling FFS.

i like the part when you can Hear the bass guitar going "uma uma uma" and the bass player really seems to be enjoyin it
Reminds me of a Tina Weymouth line but I can’t quite think of the song !
This show was soooo awesome!!
to me this is perfection....no better band or arrangement..... and i only them 18 months..... never seen them live and never will.... my 1 true regret......

Uhhh YEAH!

ah-mazing!
I have a question.Where did you get this video?I want to Purchase a DVD containing all performancesThank you.
+k bk It is called Shut Up And Play The Hits.
That one synth line that is repeated and manipulated over and over all the way through. How is that done? What is it? I need to learn more about that.
they have a modular rack that probably has a sequence programmed in, and they keep changing the envelope and pitch and stuff
Moog Taurus. Tyler Pope (bassist) switches over to modulating it by hand as a sequence plays.
outstanding!
All ten minutes of it.
OMG so many people! no space 2 rave out!?!?! :D dont try to extase during a bike ride... you will never reach the velocity needed :D ♥ ♥ ♥
Is that Donald Glover on 8:59 ?
The music in this whole performance is so great...but JM's voice sounds a bit shot to me. I saw them last week and he sounded much better,
To be fair this song was like 2+ hours into a 3+ hour show soooooo lol
@@JacobPadlock a fair point!
Aziz @ 6:59
Is this supposed to be a cover of Love and Rockets?
Seems to have an attempted David Byrne thing. But nobodys listening.
Yeah.
this is literally a video from a sold out Madison Square Garden gig... like thousands of people are listening lmao
