- Bette Rogge, '44, '77, interviews newlywed actors Bill and Brenda (Benet) Bixby in Dayton, Ohio. Bill Bixby starred in the Kenley Players production of "Catch Me If You Can" performed at Memorial Hall in Dayton, Ohio during the week of August 24, 1971.
Bette Rogge Morse graduated from the University of Dayton in 1944. She received her masters degree from UD in 1977. She served on the University's Board of Trustees from 1975 to 1981. For her service to the community and university, Bette was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters in 1999.

So sad what happened to their son, I stumbled upon the story of their lives because I was looking up the Courtship of Eddie's father, the movie. See, sometimes you don't realize how lucky you are in your own life.

Just a beautiful couple they were. Loved him in "Courtship" and "Martian" and loved her in "Days of Our Lives."

@@GjpgrD Emily "Lee" Dumonde. She was a psychiatrist that married Doug for his dead brother's money... coming right in between Doug and Julie (which several fans hated her for in real life).
She's also Reneé Dumonde's mother (originally thought to be her sister, but Reneé's her daughter with Stefano), and Reneé found out from a letter that Lee wrote. The show wrote it that way shortly after Brenda's suicide.

What a tragedy it turned out for Bill and Brenda. Brenda couldn't take it anymore after their son died. RIP to all of them.
Knowing what the future had for them, seeing this is saddening.

Watching here in March 2023. Seeing them both so young and happy ISN'T "SADDENING" to me.
It's delightful to have this sweet memory.....and since 'death' is only The Beginning of our new adventure as humans, it is a joyous inevitability.

A great guy! Excellent actor, writer, director, and all around person from what I see, and life dealt him a bad hand a lot of times. His son died at 6 years old, his wife kills herself a year later, and then he gets prostate cancer at 59 years old, suffers and croaks.(prostate cancer is pretty curable now) And you think you have it bad?

Wikipedia says they married in 1971. If correct, this would have been in 1971 or 1972.
The book "Soap Opera Babylon" said that while on DAYS Benet "fought bitterly with one castmate and had an adulterous affair with another." Probably a woman. (From a soap webpage.)
Five years later, her son died, and she committed suicide.
