It took some time for me to actually process this but I think I get it now!
Zen shooting Alex prevented the world from seeing an endorsement of suicide, and it seems most people get that. What puzzled me was why Zen didn't live or achieve his revenge. But I think I understand - given the question Ai posed. He died right after saying evil was "to end" and it's implied that he killed himself, yes?
By him doing that right after the murder, I'm certain that it resulted in the concept of suicide being linked to evil in the minds of everyone watching the broadcast. So perhaps it's a martyrdom conclusion (i.e. "the bad man killed himself and we all would have prefered he answer for his crime") and so maybe the actions he took in those moments really made everyone think more carefully about the law. Much like his ideology was to always continue thinking about justice instead of just accepting society's definition.
I just really wish I knew why Ai made contact with Zen's son in the end tho. Coincidental meeting, or otherwise, that still frustrates me quite a bit as someone who was rooting for Zen to make it back to his family. It has very dark implications.

¿Did really anyone heard the difference in the shoots? when he kill Alex is a pistol shot but the last one it was from a high caliber gun, probably a rifle from an american. And yeah he sacrificed himself shooting Alex and he knew that too, it was the only way.

    i'm korean
i'm not good at english but i can tell why seijaki shoot alex
alex said at meeting if suicide is right thing he will die with that girl
it means if broadcast the president die that means suicide is a right thing and it spread all world
    it is very danger
so seijaki shoot the president and it covers suicide is right thing
    alex want that too
so he said "if i suicide now it is people to tell the lie"
because the right thing is keep going
i hope it is good answer
one more thing babylon is really good 'thing'
    not just anime...

    • @a2me216
      @a2me216 4 года назад +6

@@di_ana906 I'll apologize for my lengthy post in advance. This is purely my speculation so just take it with a grain of salt:
      1. After Seizaki shot President Wood, Seizaki either committed suicide under Magase's influence, misfired and was subsequently incarcerated, or killed by a third party, i.e. snipers or the President's bodyguards. It is noteworthy to point out that only the President's close aides knew of the existence of Magase and her abilities, others who were uninformed may have treated Seizaki as a hostile/assassin and took immediate action to kill him. However, if Seizaki simply misfired and was incarcerated, I suppose he would have received a more lenient sentence given the circumstances and that President's Woods close aides are aware of Magase. Nevertheless, President Wood must die- not only due to him bound by Magase's curse, but also the fact that him having obtained knowledge of good and evil necessitates his downfall (identical to the story of Adam and Eve).
      2. Seizaki's family moved to the countryside (either Seizaki's or his wife's hometown, although I am inclined to believe it's the former) to avoid vexatious matters, e.g. dealing with the press, threats etc.
      3. Magase could have easily obtained further information regarding Seizaki and his family given her connections and resources; she already established that Seizaki is married and has a son in episode two (refer to the interrogation scene).
Ultimately, I presume the significance of the final scene is that it emphasizes the concept of "to continue". It may be argued that through Asuma's (Seizaki's son's) existence, a part of Seizaki endures. Asuma is the continuation of Seizaki's legacy and therefore symbolizes the continuation of good. I believe that both President Wood and Seizaki's conclusion-"good" being "to continue" and that "evil" equates "to end"-should not be taken literally or at face value; the reasoning is not "since x continues it is therefore good", nor does it suggest "since x ends, therefore it is evil". The notion "to continue" is just (good) because it is only through the continuation of matters that possibilities, the concepts of good and evil, and the opportunity to rectify mistakes exist. Consequently, good and evil coexists as long as everything "continues", and once everything reaches the terminus, as Magase remarked, after one's death, i.e. "end", there lies nothingness. Hence, it is the overwhelming nothingness concomitant with the "end" that underscores the evilness of "ending"- the preclusion of possibilities.
On a side note, I think the parallel drawn between Magase and the Whore of Babylon from the Book of Revelation is rather thought-provoking. Magase leads people to divagate from the right path through her enticement/hypnosis. Similarly, the Whore of Babylon causes people to stray from God by committing idolatry. By giving her victims a taste of "one drop of poison" (name of the first arc) through her words, she causes them to opt for "a chosen death" (name of the second arc), which subsequently engenders a "twisted world" (name of the third arc).

I dont think zen killed himself. He may be killed by a sniper. But even if he did it wasnt that worse. I just wished him a happy ending after all he endured.
Personally, I do not think that Ai ever killed a kid with her power. If the story about her dead child is true then she may just like children and not wanting to harm them.
The suicide thing could may be stopped after her hearing what is right, but it can be still continuing too.
She may become human afterwards too.
Its all very open. So i take this happiest ending possible being still logical

I want to add something to the suicidelaw. I do not think it is everywhere accepted, because that would not represent the good and would zen killing the governemnt sacrifing his life making no sense.
But I heard that the novel ended up Alex comitting suicide. So the knowledge of good and evil would only be in Zen unspreaded. In the Novel Zen did not kill Alex and the suicide law could be introcuded everywhere and zen could be still live on.
With the knwoledge why should he commit suicide shopting himself.

People questioned about what is happening with the suicide law and it seemed to be just a plot device and can still be open end.
I think the ending is weird in both because there is no influece that Zen made to the world. I guess with the scene post credits that she highly stoped killing and supporting the suicide law and Zen was shot by the US Army not her.
She is highly impulsive and overpowered thats why she can do what she wants and any ending is possible.

Yeah its pretty open. There is a gunshot, and apparently Magese is still alive. Zen could have shot himself, finally succumbing to Magese suicide powers, or a third party could have shot Zen, since he just shot the president of the united states.
In a way Zen and the President defeat Magase, by presumably foiling her plans. They show great self sacrifice, zen ruining is life, in a noble act, to shoot the president. Maybe that is why Magese is going after his family, Zen could be in prison somewhere, or maybe he escaped himself.

    • @m_d_thp

Magase is surely op but I think even Magase was prepared to get killed by Zen, which is why she asked Zen the What is good and Bad. Zen anwser to that is good=continuing evil=stopping, this then convince Magase to still keep doing what she does best as stopping it will be considered as evil. Thus her line "Well, I'm sorry but.. Bang" . Zen commited suicide. In short Zen was given a chance to kill her.

I think you gotta look at her in a cosmic horror perspective. It's already hinted that she is someone beyond what anyone could handle because all the biblical references are pointing to who she is. Given the title of the show, she's the Whore of Babylon, and even Alex refers her actions and being to her.
