    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    You dont need to have all 9 hooks on, all you do is divide it in half and it becomes more manageable to unhook your fish! Plus you get 2 sets instead of one and easier to put aside once your done fishing!

    A simple dehooker works great for quickly releasing bait into the live well and helps the bait live longer

    I've caught Spanish mackerel in October with them they just tend to break them because the mackerel hit them so hard and fast but I've caught 5 full size mackerel at a time it's great fun

    After you've got your bait pull the rig back into the rod, pull the rod apart and clip a small float to theline end of the rig. This leaves you with a handle and an entire rig safe inside the sabiki rod. Don't let the rig rust out, just pour some fresh water through the rod and wash the salt off, put it in the sun for a bit and you'll be ready to go next time. Unclip the float, clip the line end to that, join the rod and fish.

    Would adding a crome lure say a maniac 9 without hooks help the catch rate? Btw if your struggling with tangles cut the rig in half and tie on extra swivels I can scrunch my rigs up and they untangle easy or another way i found is big w sell rig holders wrap the rig around that

    Spool the sabiki rig around a section of pool noodle and you can use the rig multiple times hassle-free! 😊

      the wintertime semi-rigid, foam-tube pipe insulation sold in home depot will do as well but is smaller diameter than pool-noodles so waste less space.

    Hello Fishing World. I was looking at the Sabiki rods, and lines on Amazon for the first time last night, and I must say I had never heard of them before then. This morning; lo and behold your programme came up on the Tube. I'd like to know a bit more about these Sabiki rods please.. The one you held was identical to the one advertised on Amazon. The concept is somewhat foreign to me, but I am interested to know if I can catch GARFISH with such a rod. Thank you.

    Many piers in Alabama will not allow you to use a net so you have to use a Sabiki rig.

  • @Canoe571
    @Canoe571 11 лет назад

    Would making a Sabiki rig with braided line make it less apt to tangle? That mono looks like it has a lot of memory.

  • @flamedrag18
    @flamedrag18 8 лет назад

    a smaller, cheaper rig is a simple wooden line winder in the shape of a H to hold onto the line and hooks, you unwind the hooks and line until you hit bottom, then start hauling back, you'll have fish biting the fleeing baits(can be small flies, whatever), haul everything aboard and lay it out on the floor, unhook fish and throw the weight over, the hooks will follow the weight out, when done, wind it all back up on the way up and hook the last hook into the line.

    Does anyone have any ideas on how to store them when finished fishing? They get tangled easily and I feel like I spend more time untangling them then actually fishing with them and I don't like buying new ones because there $5 apiece at the beach, so I ordered some online for way cheaper, but I would like for them to last. Thanks for you feedback.

      Use a wine cork and wrap the line around, hooking each hook into the cork as you go.... not perfect.... my rigs only have 4-5 hooks... but with nine, I'm not sure a cork would be big enough....

    • @JacobWinkle
      @JacobWinkle 10 лет назад +1

      dartfrogger ya I used a water bottle to store them in. It's not to bad actually. I got it from another RUclips video

      Try using pool noodles, and cut the pool noodle into 8-12 inches and cut a slit in the middle to put your swivels in there. You can put all your rigs on the pool noodle.

      We use oak branches/ trimming for most rigs when in the rivers back home. Only just picked this rig up the other day for some salt fun but I'm sure a stick would suit you just fine an can be found in your yard.

    have you ever caught a full string (9) of baits? Just curious as to whether it is better to wait until the rig is full or unload and try again? Also what depth are you letting it down too? And also there are alot of no wake zone where i live and i was curious if you can troll with them?

      no its for jigging its best on a pier or a boat you can catch snapper bait fish papero jack amber jack pretty much anything including bass but not on shore

    • @lgnlint
      @lgnlint 9 лет назад +1

      Everardo Garza You can actually use them onshore for getting bait. I throw out chunks of bread to get the little fish gathered and feeding, then you throw the sabiki out and jerk it through the school of fish. They will either bite or get snagged. Use a very light weight "pinch on" sinker - just enough to get it casted out. You can also add a bobber on the sinker side so that the line will stay in the water where the fish are and won't sink to the bottom.

    In the situation you were in with so much bait at the boat, why not toss a Hawaiian throw net over the side and load the baitwell in one minute? Sure beats manhandling those delicate baits unhooking them and ending up with some dead bait in the mix. Not to mention the lost fishing time.

    There is no way those 8 hooks fit inside that sabiki rod as the sabiki rig was longer. Think a little bit of off camera editing was done here.
