I just bought a Commencal. Im so happy with the bike, it does everything they say in this review. Except for it didn't need any adjustments out of the box. Also the customer service was way beyond the other consumer direct companies i spoke to. In fact it was one of the reasons i pulled the trigger with the Commencal. Only downfall was i blew out the rear tire on the first ride....had to replace with a heavier walled tire both front and back..Buy the bike
My meta 29 xx edition is on it's way, I had to look twice because I couldn't believe the price when I saw it 3 weeks ago 😱😱😱, full axs build with ultimate level suspension, code rcs brakes and carbon wheels. It's like I bought the components and got the frame for free, insane value 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@waycon I already ordered a full frame protection kit and cushcore for my bike, the only thing I'll change on the Meta is to swap the code rcs with magura mt7 with hc3 levers from my old bike
Sergei Yoel I ended up not getting it because I’m trying to get away from that much travel that I had with my 2018 meta but damn it was hard not to buy the XX edition. Just price for the frame and components is INSANE!
@@MillerRL96 I'm upgrading from the 2015 meta v3 with 150/160 that I upgraded to it's limit, I rode a demo 2019 meta 29 essential and the 10mm addition front and rear didn't impact my riding at all in a negative way. When I saw the spec on the xx edition I had to pull the trigger, it looks sick and it's aluminum, my friends broke a new crabon yeti and santa cruz frame within 6 months of riding so for me it's METAL FOR LIFE.
When commenting on the weight of the bike I note strength to weight ratio (rider), especially if you have a heavier rider who is 180 lbs or more. In that instance the 2 - 3 lb difference in bike weight seems irrelevant.
Great review. I've owned a Commencal Meta AM 29 for 6 months. I love the bike. That said, it is a heavy big bike. You will notice it going up the same uphill that you are used to on a lighter bike. Two pluses I'd like to mention is the 200mm breaks are amazing. And the bike crushes small bump and pretty much everything on downhill. Overall this bike will have you riding more confident and above your level because it's such an amazing bike. Something to watch out for sometimes too. I've got myself into trouble riding over my level because the bike inspires so much confidence.
Tempting for enduro days. A bike that will dent but not crack after a big mistake is rather comforting. I gotta go check the price now. Good review guys.
I quit watching Bike Magazine reviews, I did not think the riders were experienced. I could not bring myself to trust a review from someone who may not have proper riding fundamentals. The gentlemen wearing the red jacket in these clips looks proper on the bike. He rides with his feet planted and looks confident on the bike. Its great to see this change. Thank you all for the excellent review, keep up the great content.
I thought they were ok till I watched the review of the Canyon Strive CF 7.0. They talked about the shapeshifter system for 90% of the review and barley touched on how it rides. They are a bit spotty but this one was good.
Bike mag has come a long way with the bible of bike test videos. Quality is definitely better than pink bike IMO. Yes whistler is great, the thing is Canada is huge, go to a different park or trail center. I appreciate that Bike Mag goes to different locations for there winter and summer line up. Side note, go test rocky mountain and Pole. I want to see your opinion, and hopefully they don't break on you.
This was another great review! So far you are 2 for 2 on presenting great content in an 8 minute window. I will check the other reviews later, but so far you guys are out doing Pink Bike! As for this bike, the Meta 29 World Edition has a spec that is about $3,500 less than a comparable spec Specialized Enduro or Santa Cruz Megatower. I would take the 4 lb weight penalty for that type of savings! These bikes are all so close these days anyways, and it all comes down to nitpicking what makes a bike better (for you). For me, looks plays a big factor and the Meta is one nice looking bike.
Been riding this bike since late July. Lots of all mountain and park. It is a bit of a pig on the climb but I'm running an EXO+ Assagai on the front and an EXO Aggressor on the rear., both heavy tires compared to the stock Schwalbes. Might want to check your comments about the frame weight though, 7.9lbs as listed w/o BB vs 7.9lbs w/DUB BB for the 2020 Specialized Enduro, man that aluminum frame is SO heavy!?!
Are there any differences in the frame of the 2019 version vs the 2020 version of the Meta Am 29? I'm ready to order this bike but if there are no differences, perhaps I can get a better deal for the 2019. Any response is appreciated, Cheers
I just bought a 2019 Meta AM 29 WC. This bike is amazing. Out of the box it was so easy to build. It was tuned and ready to ride. This thing down hills like an absolute beast and climbs pretty well too. Even beat a Personal best strava climb I did on a Trek top Fuel cross country bike. My previous bike was a $15,000 Ibis Ripmo and this bike beats it hands down
I agree with this. I have a meta and a ripmo AF and on my strava the meta is faster I was really surprised. I can't see to put my finger on why but I think it is the stiffness of the frame and the engagement of the hubs.
On my 2020 Team, 2 tokens in the fork and 1 spacer in the shock. I added an additional token in the front and considered an additional spacer in the rear. Have never noticed any bottom outs but frequently go through all the travel. At 185lbs haven't found a good air pressure, with the 1 spacer in the rear, that gives me some buffer without making the rear end harsh. Considering a MegNeg in the Spring.
@@rocknhammer I also own the 2020 team version and i also feel like i should run a spacer more in the shock but i dont know about the fork. I havent been able to use all of its travel at all and I went already down to 1 spacer. I am at 25 to 30 percent sag and close to the recomended pressure, but still I dont reach the the travels end so I want to know how you set up the damping. I run hs comp fully open so i dont think thats an issue and ls comp is almost fully open as well. Is it just that the new lyrik is pretty progressive or very supportive?
@@paulkuck1506 8 clicks rebound, 0 HSC, 2 clicks LSC. I don't run the full travel though, I like to see 10mm left at the end of a good run, prefer to have some breathing room for the unexpected high G compressions. Rear I tend not to worry as much, I always go through the travel and have yet to feel it bottom out.
Hey guys, thank you for this review. But, all of your reviews are too positive. there must be a lot of negatives which you are not saying because only one or two bikes in the entire test are going to feel right to a particular individual in your group. How a bike feels to a rider is the most important thing! You are all different heights as well so the bikes will feel quite different IMHO.

Immediate thumbs up for not censoring “bad words”
people censor words to avoid getting demonetized, not to be pc

I totally agree, the reviews here are percise and don't come with with a know-it-all attitude as the do at PB. Keep up the great work!

How have you guys not reviewed the Commencal Clash? It is one of the best looking and incredibly capable bikes out there
I have nothing but good things to say about the Meta! Such a balanced bike and so composed out there.
how does it corner and do you think it would be a good race bike
Put full Ohlins on my Meta 29. Had to go down to 160 in front. But that spring is pretty sweet controlling the rear.

I wish they would’ve sent the AXS model haha. The spec on that bike for 5k is insane!
Miller Reid gotta love companies that are honest and don’t charge an arm and a leg just because they can!
Nick Milot agreed! The spec on the AXS model would be 9k from any other company aluminum or carbon.
I recommend giving the weight per size of whatever model you're reviewing.
its written there, its size large
how does the bike corner
Nukeproof reactor please 🍻
Did you guys do a review on the 2021 TR...I thought I saw it, but I cannot find it?

Commencal is the shizznit. Value. Durability. Efficacy. Max knows his shit.
Where did they get the weight figure from? 34lbs? The website says 32.6lbs which is pretty typical for an aluminum enduro...

Would you say 2020 spec is better? Or with the extra 100$?

Yes, the good review group that doesn't say LIKE after LIKE every sentence.
32lb , 34lb. 2 lb is nothing unless you're a racer. They must be weaklings. "My jacket was 2 lbs heavier when it got wet, I couldn't walk."

No Guerilla Gravity...
“Rad skin wall tires”. Two years tops before that is a regrettable statement. Skin walls are for beach cruisers.
