This video brought back so many great memories for me, THANK YOU!! My dad owned property at Canadian Lakes and I spent a lot of time at C.L. as a teen. My dad passed away back in 1999 and the property ended up being foreclosed on. I haven’t been to C.L. in over 20 years. I can’t believe Antlers restaurant is still there!! I also remember the Sunoco gas station that was right by Antlers. I also remember the IGA store there and how they had docks behind the IGA where you could park your boat/pontoon (my dad had a pontoon) and go into IGA or even eat at Antlers. Once again thank you for posting this and for bringing back some really great memories!!

It used to be a gated "retirement" community (sort of). These days it's a mix of renters and homeowners of all ages. The gated guard shacks replaced with cameras due to issues with home invasions. The hills by the "Castle" used to be an operational ski area in the 70's up until the late 80's, they never had snowmaking nor lifts so it eventually closed down for winter sports from lack of snow cover on the hills,.It was somewhat strange rules about guests and members that made things confusing, a member could bring guests however people without a window sticker on their vehicles couldn't enter etc. You can still see remnants of where the tow rope shacks were at the top. Every lake there is also man made. I've gone swimming in a few of them, you can still see the remnants of the logging on the bottoms, particularly in lake of the clouds around the islands. Each lake has it's own set of rules aswell, some are no wake, or no wake during specific times, some allow wake but no rope towing, it's rather confusing and bizarre. There are also some very nice beach areas scattereed all over, some private, some semi-public. Oh and there is most definitely an HOA, you have to pay yearly fees for it as well, it's how they maintain all the golf, pool, beach areas etc. It also borders a huge State game area with some incredible logging roads and sand dune hills for ATV riding known as the Austin gas fields.

You can ride your ATV legally out there? Omg for real home invasion robbing? No way? Armed or break ins when no one is around? Hard to believe crime has reached just remove places!

Go to Traverse City and Petoskey! Sleeping Bear Dunes even! That dune overlook on lake Michigan is breath taking.
