    You helped me track down the Indian head decals recently, I appreciate that. I’m a fairly recent first time Sportspal owner (brand new American Meyers back in 2019) and am fascinated by the history of the whole Sportspal/Raddison/Castle Craft thing … so am I to understand you work for the Canadian Raddison or Sportspal entity or am I missing something ? I’d love to see a future video outlining the whole “family tree” of these canoes and the timelines involved and perhaps some info or pictures of the oldest one you’ve come across. These canoes are very few and far between down here in New Jersey, I’ve only ever seen two besides mine. I will say they start quite a few conversations, especially when kayakers and other canoes see me effortlessly standing in my S-14 fishing or underway to another spot … I’m definitely the odd man out but do turn some heads. Anyhow, thanks for the videos and the interesting content 👍

      Thanks, I do work at the Sportspal/Radisson facility and have permission to share with my channel. The history is a bit foggy but I do have some info in an old video. However I did stumble across some old distributor advertisements, I will talk to my boss about some of the historical points that I don't have and will put something together. Cheers

      Sorry I accidentally deleted my previous reply : “Original Radisson Canoe where made in Quebec, Canada and where fiberglass canoes. I still have one from the early 70s and it is beautiful. Dont know when they where bought out/merged with sportspal. Pretty foggy history indeed!”

    I just bought an old 12’ Sportspal double end. Maybe you can help me out?
    It’s old I think it has no hull ID or plate but S57 is painted on the side below the logo
    The sponsons are yellow along with the foam seats (which have little containers of matches in them).
    Oh and the hull seams use screws not rivets.
    There’s some kind of roll of twine bungee corded to the yoke also and the motor support is wood but has factory paint
    Bottom still has all its paint and not one dent!

    • @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal
      @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal  2 года назад +1

      I think you a Meyers sportspal very much similar. It's quite old as the number system was just that it's either 557 or 57 either way old as the motor mount was cut out of basically a 4x4 piece of wood. Sounds like a cool old canoe enjoy

    • @aarongertz8079
      @aarongertz8079 2 года назад

      Thanks for the info, any advice on how to maintain the screwed together hull vs the rivets?

    • @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal
      @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal  2 года назад

      I would make sure the seams are sealed well and any loose spots along the gunwale to add rivets or screws as needed to keep together

      Thanks man, appreciate it.
      I reached out to the manufacturer to figure out what the “s” is before 57. No clue why it’s there but it’s definitely an “s”

    • @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal
      @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal  2 года назад

      I'm not super familiar with how Meyers did their numbers. Some of the old ones have the # stamped on the bow on the top of the gunwale

      I usually sell a 12 footer around 500 after I do a refurbishment.

    In the process of repainting an 1970 sportspal. Any advice on paint removal would be appreciated. So I really need to strip it down to bare metal?

    • @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal
      @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal  Год назад

      If you don't have to strip it down, I wouldn't lots of unnecessary work in my opinion. Just make sure the surface is smooth and clean, then paint.

    • @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal
      @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal  Год назад

      It's kind of tricky we use a customized roller to do it. I would think it may be difficult to reproduce in a diy situation. But I will think about how one might be able to pull it off.

    Do you hammer out dents during this process or leave them?

    • @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal
      @GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal  11 месяцев назад

      I always try to hammer out most dents, especially larger oneswhen the liner and ribs are out. Afterwards, when the liner and ribs are in, some of the smaller dents come out easier with the extra strength in the hull
