Cool idea for the rear sight. Although Elmer put the bars in a front sight for extra long range shooting, your modification makes sense for the close range purpose of the cap n baller.
true..as i point out in another video i put the range bars on the front sight of my 1858..its front sight is big enough for it..thanks for the comment..safe journeys

In my 1851 snubbie in .44 caliber (Pietta) one cylinder will cap jam every time.Obviously it is the safety chamber. I much enjoyed the series. I am far from a beginner but I picked up several tips. Thank you but I am not sure some of those Yankees will understand you deep Alabama accent. Being from Texas I had no problem.

Some great advise. My pietta 1858 8 inch needs a little work. My 5.5 inch shoots straight and true with a 2.5 inch group at 50 yrds. out of the box. Which I was surprised.
I would love an in depth version of sighting in a C&B pistol. From start to finish. I have several pistols and all of them shoot way high. I really want to know step by step showing how to fix this. Most modern guns don't consistently have this problem. Thanks.
Excellent. I handmake custom leather, and have made a flap holster for my brother’s BP revolver. While my design is period-accurate, it also accommodates OC- which is otherwise specious on a flap holster. PM me, I’d happily make you one; I need to know how you carry it, on what belt.

I just wanted to mention a book I was reading yesterday said that Colt cap and ball guns were factory sighted in for 50 yards. Good, common sense information! I liked and subbed! I'm with ya all the way on the topics of snakes. Only twice in my adult life have I run across venomous snakes . One was a big, fat cotton mouth sitting right behind me, less than 12 inches away! The other was in the Mojave Desert (high desert) while jack rabbit hunting...walked up on a young rattler but didnt recognize it was a snake because it blended in so well with the desert floor. Snakes are not my favorite animal to come across at any time or place!!!!!
Yes please. More on practical techniques of shooting. The old trigger control problem of nervy finger movement, isolation etc. Not disturbing the sight picture on firing is my issue. Im mainly having this problem with the plough handle SAA Peacemaker.

Your instructions are great for the Navy model. Do you have any tips, instructions, or help regarding sight adjustments on a 1858 New Army Model ? I know that the front sight can be filed down to raise point of impact but mine shoots a nice group about 3 inches left at a 10 yard target.

Im not bashing at all Sir, or trolling, I just dont get the idea of having a snake gun. Rabid dog, wild bore, deer hunting etc. I get it. But why not just step aside and give a snake a little distance? With all due respect Sir, just looking for your perspective.

when i go to make them i take a fine sharpie and draw a line across the rear sight notch..i will shoot at a given range like say 25yrs and move the line up or down for elevation..once i got it where i want i will use a file and cut a line across the hammer to act as a sight marker
Sir, I understand taking a new firearm out and firing off a few rounds before you get down to the serious business. But, I'm a little confused about warranty. At what point can you start filing on a firearm, and still be able to send it back before the manufacturer cries foul?
most will take the gun back if you show its firing wild..because the barrel is curved..i have sent a few back over the yrs and most of the importers will listen if you present a good case its made defective
Hello Blackie........Have you experienced any caplock revolver, in any brand, whose cylinder chambers were of a smaller diameter than the barrel grooves? If loading pure lead bullets, will the bullet expand sufficiently to fill the grooves so that the chamber diameters do not matter?
i have had a revolver that the cyl was smaller in size than the bore size..and accuracy was terrible..i even resorted to using pure lead balls and squeezing them as hard as possible to try and flatten them out..nothing worked..had to let it go to a civil war renactor who just wanted a blank firing noise maker

As I started your video, the 1860 shown looks like it has a steel sight and not a brass nib in there for the site. (because I'm lazy) Is there a company that makes good replacements or would that be a blank that needs to be fitted?
haha..yea they say that when the cannons were firing at gettysburg right before picketts charge they could be heard as deep thunder 80 miles away..i bet lots of the old guys were deaf for a reason

I never saw a need for that "empty chamber" safety thing as every BP revolver I owned had the safety notches between the nipples.

i did on a 1860 i used a punch and peeked it on both sides of the sight to squeeze it

actually its a 1861 navy..and that's a brass( very tarnished) front sight..i rub powder fouled cleaning patches on the site to tarnish it quickly
