- We're back!!!!! DYHPTG?! Returns for it's 11th season premiere....now with 37% more ninjas! Today we take a look at a game that was recently saved from arcade obscurity, the hack-and-slash/run-and-gun modeled after Sunset Riders....a game that somehow screams pre-Michael Bay levels of explosion-tainment, AND 90s era ninja action: Mystic Warriors. Definitely need MORE Ninja Steve! Also at about an hour this game looks like it could have some serious replayability! I need to check this one out.
Great video! I hope Hamster also releases Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa, another awesome run-n-gun by Konami, released in 1992.
That one will be a little tougher as it's a license. But there's no excuse for the lack of Martial Champion, Metamorphic Force and Violent Storm.
13:50 This track is a reference to T99 - Anasthasia and L.A. Style - James Brown is Dead (and its spin-offs) songs, that's because Techno was getting really popular back in the early 90s there. You can get to know that period-accurate Techno music with Avex Rave '93 live event, that one was pretty big back in the day
Yep the plane crash sealed this games fate for ports for sure. That sucks, because this game looks pretty great and those voice lines (while cheesy) are pretty clear! As far as the flashing, I think capture just has issues with certain frame rates. I notice it a lot in my Megaman X playthrough too. Thanks for shedding some light on this one!
Never played this game before. Looks pretty awesome though, so I think I'll have to download it and give it a try.

This game is surprisingly great. The gameplay is pretty solid and I definitely love the soundtrack. Wish this game gor a console port back then.

The character disappearing in the footage is because the footage wasn't recorded at 60fps. Similiar stuff happens when you record the 2D Sonic games at 30fps and get the shield powerup. Also the japanese version is easier since the bosses have less health.
I think you figured it out! Something must've happened, as the footage from other playthrough doesn't have this issue. Weird! Maybe my settings defaulted or got changed accidentally at some point?
Ninja Steve should be a regular on the show.

Well, it's understandable as to why some people pirate the games. One of them for sure is the over-the-top price tags that no one can afford, it's insane how they are priced in that way.

Did not know that Hamster hadn't released any Konami games from this particular hardware board before. But if they now have this experience I hope we're getting some of Konami's latter games, I have only read about them in articles before.
Also Ninja Steve is a ninja of taste- Brad does stand out even in a lineup as cool as this one. They do seem to have tried to be pretty international despite heavy Japanese-ness of the ninja theme, with the drive-ins, English language, American stages etc. And of course, not just a black character, but also a white character whose design looks like Brad Pitt in a way? I.E a white guy who doesn't look more or less just like how they draw Japanese characters, western and eastern noses here. Shame that this release is apparently the first home console release, but better late than never.

The japanese version tho is easier. It's because the US/NTSC version was made harder as it was assumed more people would be playing it back in the day so.. that didn't go as planned.
