Nice video! I've been on a national tour for 4 months, managing to get in 2 or 3 hours of crate digging each week, some amazing LPs in them dollar bins, yeah man!! jazz, latin, bossa., reggae.that's me.
Diggin is a drug...Im always finding new spots and hate to leave till I go through everything there and sometimes thats a problem...but man the finds you can get. Im always finding something Ive never heard of and after playing it cant figure out why. Great passion/hobby to get into...nothing beats vinyl for sound. Thanks for the video.
physically going to a record shop and digging makes life more interesting and special rather than the instant click of a button on your computer to download music, its like bumpin' into someone you haven't seen in a thousand years who you been wondering about, or maybe finding that soul mate like when you find that perfect copy you've always been anticipating for that moment to happen. lol ...thats super corny but thats how it feels.
hey amir , i thought you woulda picked that wood brass & steel 45 up in the 90's . anyway everyone is different , thats why i like diggin too . everybody has different records . i remember i used to have 50 of those wood brass and steels last decade . wow how the years fly by . peace . IDEM . from MELBOURNE . AUSTRALIA
I'm a fan and digger who has shopped at A1 when I can get to New York (rarely) from London. It's a great shop and they consistently come up with new and interesting stock. Find mixes of my collection via @raregrooveprops on Twitter or via the Rare Groove Soul and Boogie Podcast on Facebook.
@CanvassBlack A lot of people hate on upstate, but if you head up youll find mad record deals in little shops. Most of the places I frequent don't sort their selections out. The most I've paid for a record in shop was probably 16 for a mint 1967 Iron Butterfly album. I've found some private pressing and single cat# soul and funk records. I picked up a record by a group called Wilmer And the Dukes released 1969 out of Buffalo, $2. and I know I came across the first Sylvers album in a $2 row.
These guys should check out DEMONFUZZ records in Rotterdam, Holland... Hundreds of unknown gems are hidden in there... And,,,,,they're for sale as well!
@BIGDO13 Because people are dumb enough to think those are the only GOOD records out there. ;) ( Obviously many of those records are still worth their value, but only because of their rarity, not because of their content. )
I remember the On Track tapes they had. Chicago lost a few great spots like Dr.Wax, the Beat Parlor. We still got Gramaphones, Dusty Grooves.
I really respect guys (and girls) like this that's dedicated to diggin'
