I ponder about several issues raised in this podcast. Thanks for the answers.
I didn't know about Montessori until recently but it has caught my interest every time ever since and I have learned a lot about it. I have also pondered why it did because I am the typical child who had a lot of dread for schooling and homework, but mostly smart at the same time. This is especially the case for many Nigerian children. As you said, the "why" never dies and that's exactly true for me from childhood up until now as an adult ( even though it's more difficult to question things and notions as an adult) to the extent that as a child, I had a nickname: questionnaire!
But a lot of things resonate with me with typical Montessori experiences like this and I think the reason is because of my vast childhood experience (mostly by chance and not choice). For example, living with my grandmother in rural Nigeria, I was involved with a lot of hands-on life experience such as growing, harvesting, and processing or cooking my own food at the young age of 6. At the age of 4, my mother gave me a chore to water the flowers before I prepared for school; and so on. I have also come to find out that most of what is said to be Montessori principles is an everyday experience for a normal west African kid.
    Thanks for sharing your story!

This podcast answered lot of my questions in transitioning from Montessori to middle or high school. Thanks!

My daughter is 3 years and she's been attending Montessori; was wondering how long I should continue. And came across this podcast.

And I don’t think her age answers that question. Every time she starts to explain things he interrupts her. I cringe when he repeats obvious comments.

Montessori only lasts through early childhood or the child can continue up until what it would be high school and go to college?

My granddaughter is switching from Montessori to regular kindergarten. She is very nervous and so are we that she will not do well. I thought this video would be enlightening.

Wish you had let her talk more rather than constantly interrupt.

Also, if you see this comment, can you share or do you have the contact info for the African Montessori school you mentioned here? I am interested in montessori being adopted by more people of color, especially those that are not affluent. thank you.

I dont think affluent areas should get montessori education push first. They are already ahead in life from non-affluent areas. Plus, we already know the haves never want to share with the have-nots.
