    Great review. I don't know what half of these people are on about. I don't wanna see a guy (or girl) shred metal for 10 minutes. I bet this guy can shred like a demon if he wants. He has demonstrated all of the different tones and FX of the amp and sold it to me. Just ordered it, upgrading from the Cube 60 after 3 years of trouble free gigging Thank you for an excellent demonstration.

      Pro player for 35 years ! Been a Fender Vox and Marshall guy all my life this amp truly does it all! It built like a tank! Don't be fooled by its Black& Decker look 😂 this amp can keep up with a full band no problem!

    I have the original Cube 60, and as an owner of a Mesa LoneStar Special, I have to say this little amp sounds great. Great tones for smaller jams, and respectable tones for recording. You aren't going to get the exact clean chime of a tube amp, but for anything dirtier the tones are realistic, not that the clean doesn't sound good. I also have a lottle bass Cube, and that thing sounds great!

    Nice job. Thanks.
    80 percent of those who complain about this video have never made a video.
    Great demo of the amp with nice music.
    Thank you.

    I think he's a fine player....good warm sound. As far as his presence, I don't want him to sell me, just the basic facts. I don't get the criticisms here.

    Look,,,it's a lightweight, affordable solid state (reliable) practice amp. An extension cab line out would have been a nice option, but it's already too busy trying to be all things to all guitar players. Despite this very poor demo, it serves me well as a very versatile practice amp with good clean tones and serviceable effects (if used very sparingly).
    If you find yourself having to move a lot of heavy tube amps to rehearsals in different locations like I did - this is a very good amp. Cube 80 amp in one hand, guitar on my back in cushioned soft case. Not gonna replace your triple recto half stack, not gonna replace your twin reverb. But it's a good small lightweight practice combo.

    Actually about the best clean I have heard from a Cube. Maybe due to the higher watts? Anyway it strikes me that jazz players might like this on the clean side. The OD stuff didn't sound that great I didn't think.

      greatvanzinni I agree. The cleans sound warm and open but the distortion sounds fizzy and buzzy.

    I've owned an older Cube-15X and it's served as simple but great practice amp with decent clean and distortion tones. Though I agree that this was a poor representation of the 80GX's full capability, it's rather just a demo of what it would sound like in the styles played in this video. I play modern alt metal and post hardcore, so my 15X has been satisfactory. That being said, I know that the 80GX sounds much better.

    Very good and "thorough" demo. Went thru everything in good order. Not trying to impress with guitar playing, but played everything really well. This is a good demo to really get a feel for what the amp can do.

    I have 40watt cube great amp
    Roland always makes great pratice amps you don't need any additional pedal expect wah wah pedal or maybe some delay too
    but overall great amp.............

    For not being a tube amp I think it does well.

  • @MrMjp58

    I have owned one for 2 years. It's great apart from an annoying and very audible hiss that often accompanies every note and lasts around 5 seconds. No change of setting remedies it. It's time might be up for me.

    I have the 30X and as a metal layer I need a lot of gain, but I need an extra overdrive pedal to stop the top end fading out

    Major fail not having the extention speaker out like the previous model! I use the 80XL on top of a eminence loaded 2 x 12 for a really big, defined sound. Check out the Cube 60 aswell. Big fan of Roland but that big CUBE logo sucks bigtime, no class.

    would there be a difference in the sound quality between the 40gx and the 80gx or is just loudness

    • @coupe-lee
      @coupe-lee 8 лет назад +1

      Every time you double wattage you actually only gain about 3db or so in total volume difference, but what you do get is greatly increased headroom with the higher power rating.

      Agreed. just tried this out and most of the lead channel sounds so dulled to me on most of the models, the only good sounds come from the JC-Clean and then the Extreme and the r-fier are ok

    Anyone know how the cubes handle pedals?

    • @GibanezJeff
      @GibanezJeff 9 лет назад

      +Adrian X Stacy Yes... Through the front end, on the clean channel, all stomp boxes work and sound as expected... When you switch to the lead channel you do not get the expected performance when engaging overdrives or distortions when attempting to give it a little more drive.... It way over-saturates and you lose volume and tone.... I use distortion and overdrive pedals instead of switching between the lead and solo channels. I also use a chorus and delay pedal for extra flexibility. I like the the delay on the cube as well as the other fx but find the cube chorus is only usable on the clean channel with no drive. It's actually a great sounding amp and the only one I could find in the price range that has the direct out which I needed to go out to the sound system for our particular setup.

      Gib Anez Thanks. I have a micro cube and love it but the speaker started sounding farty when you crank it (common problem). I would love to have a larger micro cube with EQ. I think i might get this one.

      @balladeer45 7 лет назад +1

      You must have a big bedroom if you need 80 watts. That's plenty of watts to gig with on most jobs in small clubs.
