Make sure to remind Cougar he does a great Guzma and how much we appreciate him. I honestly get worried sometimes at how self-deprecating he is in his Reddit post videos, since it's hard to tell if he's exaggerating for comedic effect or genuinely depressed.

Okay, had to go watch it a couple more times to catch more of what makes it so great. First all the background noises. Let's talk about those beauties that drag you into this story. We got bugs, birds, the sounds of shoveling, and even the sound of the weed being pulled from the ground with rocky soil falling off the roots & back to the ground. Of course, there are their Pokemons' sounds, but we even got the bird sounds getting louder when Guzma is yelling at Hala.
Then there are Guzma's expressions. I don't think I've ever realized how expressive a drawn character's eyes can be, but El's pics of Guzma show so much. He might curse & yell, but you can tell he is actually taking Hala's words to heart. & When he's talking about is that my next task, with his arms crossed, hunched up like he is you can just see he's trying to protect himself. This is a hard thing for him. That is very much portrayed in that scene.
Hala really makes him open up to the point he's willing to try.
I almost feel sorry for Guzma, we're only three episodes in & this is the second time he's ended up flat on his face in front of El, lol.
I loved how his Golisopod showed he's close with Guzma to the point of pushing him to make friends. What a good boi.
The voice acting is so good. They all did an awesome job, and thanks to them all for all their hard work.
Elbdot thank you so much for all the hard work you put into making these animated videos. Your care & effort really show through. I just love how I'm getting pulled into this story even more and that's thanks to you.
edit: Oh, oh, oh I just noticed with another watch-through. Golisopod after he shoves Guzma backs away. OMG! He is such a good boi!

Sooooo here’s an idea for an extension of the comics, el and the gang visit her home and she has a personal arc centered around her and her dad’s conflict, as for a third one Meaby she and da gang visit the regions she’s been two before dropping by unova(I’m a huge unova nerd lol)

Also while I have your attention here’s an idea.
El should totally point out (maybe in the team skull arc?) that Guzma did kinda become a trial captain unintentionally, by stealing and hoarding the Buginium Z. At least for the player character or El in this case.
I always thought it was a funny/sad bit of irony.
Ah. The joys of actually teaching and learning. Will you stand idly by and watch the world turn and pass by on you, or do something to better you, them, and everything around you? All it takes is one step to go forward in any direction, and follow it. It's never the destination toward the end, but the journey of it on how you get there. And that's the lesson everyone should take.

I just found this series when scrolling across my feed, and I am so glad that I came across this. I haven't seen comic dubs all too much, but this one has really stood out for being so lively. The voice acting, the environment, the color, and music choice were fantastic. Not to mention, I love that you chose to make a story that takes place after the end of Sun/Moon. I felt that it was overshadowed by the Ultra games altogether, and that as a result, there wouldn't be as much to appreciate about it aside from its story. I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of your series transpires- this is really impressive work!
Oh this is perfect. Been binging the comics on tumblr and now I find out you've animated them as well!! (I've also been replaying sun&moon and got deeply offended when I found out they named guzma bromley in german lmaoo. I had forgotten about that)

I gotta say this here: you inspired me a lot!! (as for others people I'm sure of it ^^), and gave me motivation to draw full comics pages of my OCs! The expression your characters convey are full of life and they each have a good personallity well developped! El is a character that enters in a good the way the world and atmosphere of Pokemons!! Keep up the good work!

Man this is such a good series. As someone who's been with this comic since the beginning, seeing your version of these characters come to life is crazy.
It's insane that you've come this far, and I'm SUUUPER excited to see the other parts of this comic that you've made come to life like this in the future! This is by far my favorite Pokémon fan project that exists, and I plan on sticking with this as long as it's still being made

Sorry peeps who actually like Hau.
However, Guz has hope. He has a future best friend in El.
The guy just needs a little push.
Honestly, I'm kinda with Guzma on that one. We know he's likely been physically abused, and maybe even mentally as well (since the two often go hand in hand) by his father.
I've personally been mentally abused, and I know victims of abuse have a harder time socializing.
Speaking from experience, he may act like he doesn't care, but in reality, he's afraid to open up, because he's scared that if he does so, if he allows himself to care, he will get hurt again.
So, you know, of course he has to end up socializing with people in order to get out of that.
But give him the time he needs to open up, instead of acting like he's the bad guy in this situation just because he isn't ready yet. To me that was just mean.
He's been through hard times, so just be patient, and he'll slowly start feeling more comfortable to hang around with friends.
He'll be ready one day, but acting like he's is wrong for not being ready to open up isn't the right thing to do.
Sometimes he could need a little pushing, true, but that's not the right way to do it. Hala was onto something however.
Explain properly why he can open up with El and Hau without risking being hurt and explain how they really care about him
And in the end, that worked. He decided to go see them. That was the right approach. But El's "Of course he doesn't wanna come, what else can you expect from him ?" approach was bad.
Thank you for sharing your insight! I completely understand your take on the situation and I wholeheartedly agree with you on it. What we don't see but was meant to be implied by El's comment is that quite some time has passed and Guz has been rejecting their offers over and over again.
Guzma is no doubt a person who's been through abuse, so I agree and I see it the same way, it's natural that he needs time to open up and that he's scared to be vulnerable again. But in the end, Hau and El are both just people and they started to grow frustrated with him, especially El for Guzma's harsh rejections towards Hau's invitations, it's a mix of her being impatient but also her being protective of Hau, who's still a kid/tween.
This does not excuse their behavior, but it's why I went for this depiction, because none of these characters are perfect but they're still trying their best, even if they sometimes slip up and make mistakes.
I originally had a longer version of this comic in mind, where we would've had a slower progression and a time-montage, but in the end I went for a shorter version due to how time-consuming the original script would've become. Sometimes you have to cut corners to get your story across with less and keep it at its core, but naturally something always gets lost in that process.
However, both Hau and El are still learning and there will be one episode in particular that's meant to showcase that especially El is slowly figuring out how to approach Guzma properly and give him the space he really needs to open up. I hope this depiction will be more to your liking and properly show the progression in their friendship!

Yes, El's reaction wasn't the greatest, but people aren't perfect, so it's good from a character writing perspective that she makes choices that may not be the greatest and sometimes gets annoyed. Just like a real person would.
Basically this depiction is already to my liking. If I find so much to say about how El's words affect Guzma, it means that it's interesting and well-written. I'm just saying she was a bit harsh, not that she had no reason to be.

@@elbdot I'm always interested in well-written stories. Especially when it's about Pokemon ^^
In fact, you motivated me to continue writing my own Pokemon story about a small group called the Nymph Association who fights against the use of Pokemon Life Force (and especially Poke Balls because they're the main thing that we know is powered by that energy).
But you know, Poke Balls are a big thing in the Pokemon world, and fighting against their use (Legally. The Nymph Asso. isn't an evil team) is no small task. Especially because they're up against giants like Silph and Devon.
I just finished making episode 1. It's just text though, not a video. I wish it could be but I don't have your level nor a team to help me. But I'm not sure where I should upload it. Any suggestions ?
@@Oceane1803 OH WOW That's so cool!! :DD I'm happy I could inspire you to work on your own Pokemon story! Well, if you have it ready in written form, I'd suggest Ao3, the biggest fanfiction platform I'm familiar with. I also know a lot of people who publish their stories both on Ao3 AND on tumblr as a text post! Those are the best platforms I could think of for your work!

Hey just so you know, your account got marked "for kids" and notifications aren't working anymore because of it.
That's VERY strange - I double checked my content in RUclips Studios if RUclips marked any of my videos as "for kids" and I can't find anything! Comments still seem to work and you can still share the video as far as I can see - maybe there was a different error that blocked notifications?
@@elbdot I think it's not your video but your entire channel. Right now notifications are deactivated for me and when I try to activate them RUclips says: "This action is disabled for content made specifically for children"
