I have a less than happy update, was grinding standings for the Exequror Navy, well turns out one of the locals was stalking me, and figured I would come back through a specific gate and camped it with a gnosis. Lost my Catalyst, and now I've decided that Thorax is more reasonable. Also haven't replaced the Catalyst yet despite having the materials on hand. I'm thinking about going with a rather fast Blaster Atron instead because it will align in 3 seconds if fit right compared to my catalyst's 5 seconds. Which might save my life should asshat decide to stalk me again. Plus it's only 12 less dps compared to the rail Catalyst I was using, and I get 1.1km/s so I should also be able to crash gate and control range on npcs just fine. I'm concerned with how the Atron will tank though, my previous strategy was mitigating damage outranging npcs with railguns, now I'm gonna need to get under the guns of anything big and anything small is gonna hit me easily. Nice to see you making progress, I'm not sure how good your in game chat is going to be, given it only works when people are online at the same time. A discord server or something similiar would probably work better if people want to talk about this challenge!
I'm sorry to hear that. I do think the Thorax is a very solid goal though. And in the meantime, an AB Atron should be able to mitigate quite a lot of damage even against frigates. Angel the slasher has proven to be quite effective for me, I just wish she had more DPS. An atron won't have that problem.
Some combat cosmic signatures in null sec have rooms with Veldspar asteroids in them. Not that it would have been an option at this point anyway, since you'd need to go to highsec and get probing stuff for that alternative, but it's interesting to think about in the context of this kind of challenge since it always seemed useless. Edit: oh, you had it figured out this with missions in the next episode anyway! 😁
One trick to get within d scan of a gate. Use your cap up by turning on modules (med or shield booster) or if you are cap stable repeatedly engaging warp then cancelling it. Then warp to the target gate and look for the insufficient capacitor message and you will do a partial warp. If you don’t get an insufficient cap message cancel again
Is it a requirement for your play through to actually build it yourself? or will you accept the other option from the lp store of receiving the fully built ship? From the same organization you're running missions with, you can receive a fully built Cynabal for 240k lp and 15m isk. If you'd rather try building it, perhaps you can use it as a back up option if your first choice doesn't pan out. Also, you'll need to fit your Cynabal out with suitable modules and not just t1 trash. The faction war lp store doesn't require tags for faction modules. So you could fit your ship out with faction guns, ewar, prop, ect. If you're going to participate in the faction war though, you're going to need a lot more frigs. Since you'll likely lose a lot.
Yes, the spirit of the challenge definitely requires building the Cynabal rather than buying it premade. But the alternate methods of obtaining a BPC (such as through loyalty stores) are in the back of my mind in case something goes horribly awry with the epic arc.
All this stuff with Dotlan, Zkillboard and checking systems for gate camps is EXTREMELY COMPICATED for a n00b. You need to spend much more time explaining it in great detail. Also, the whole thing about safespots that must not be in direct line from station to gate or from gate to gate is just too difficult for me to understand. Please explain it better. And what does it mean when you say that an interdictor can just jump through the gate with you and drop a bubble? It didn't know it was possible to do it within 3 seconds or less. I want details on that whole mechanic so I can avoid it effectively.
