You know things are getting wild lately when for three races in a row the podcast is before the funniest tweets
Aye we beeeeeen waiting for that video
I think this maybe the new formula
Hope they keep it that way. The tweets was only a spoiler for their thoughts on the podcast. Much better this way
I don’t mind the funniest tweets but it’s space filler and is definitely better suited to filling time until the next race.
Honestly I love the video podcast coming out around the same time as Spotify. I hope it's their new way, because it works really well imo.
Guys did u know Verstappen was sim racing last night? Thank god crofty reminded us about that 5 fucking times.
Crofty here,
Max is so cranky, must be because he stayed up all night simracing
yea it is tiring
it was so fucking irritating dude so much so that ted had to intervene that we get it can you shut up about it also the british bias today in the commentary was more than apparent the verstappen hamilton incident was a normal racing incident as verstappen had locked up but crofty was so sure yaa that's a 5 second penalty, anyways max will get a 5 sec penalty, ya no doubt max wil have a 5 second penalty after the race he was so damn irritating today
Lack of stuff to talk about
Crofy didn't win I think
Literally everyone was angry af and Ferrari was just chillin lmao
Carlos was sunday cruising, I fully expected him to take off his helmet and let that glorious hair fly in the wind while "making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and I'm homebound..." Plays gently in the background lol
We were chilling.... but the second stop with Hamilton at same lap...did it help
I'm a lifelong Ferrari fan with more red hats and shirts than any other color, but by the end of the race I'd forgotten that Carlos and Charles were even there lol
Fred is a vibe. All that happened on track and he’s laughing through his entire interview, smiling, congratulating other teams on a win. Doesn’t he know Ferrari has rules against that sort of thing? 😂
Chilling in 4th and 6th.
Not only did Oscar not sound jubilant on the slow down lap, he actually apologised to the team. The guy drove a great race, he got his very first win, and he's apologising to the team for it? That's outrageous.
@@jinxthepetrock when he’s WDC one day he won’t even remember this fiasco.
he was apolgising as his last stint was bad , which made lando question the swap even more .Mcl should have confirmed with lando prior , a huge bottle by them
He knew he didn't deserved the win
@@DawidSikoraand Lando did with the undercut? Can't blame the drivers, McLaren is useless with their strategy
He drove a great race? Did every1 miss 3 of his run-wides? If he didn’t make those mistakes Norris wouldn’t be in undercut range.
Great deserved win.
Pity that Oscar’s first win is so bitter sweet. Stupid strategy and the team drama caused by it destroyed his possibility to celebrate the first win like how the first win should be celebrated.
Life is not perfect. It's not that bad. Oscar got the win, his feelings about that is not more important. I bet he is not sad at all. Getting your first win in perfect conditions is not any kind of basic right to anyone, not even to any F1 driver. Getting a win in F1, literally in any way is a lifetime achievement as itself, regardless of the conditions.
Such a shame that McLaren made Oscar’s first race win so controversial/awkward
yea and i dont really understand the fact we are talking about lando's feeling only... they put oscar on the back foot twice with pitstops and i understand why but how did oscar feel about it.
On the other hand this shows how good human lando is, verstappen didnt want to let perez in brasil for like 5th (i think) when he had already won championship (mathematically) after he helped him year prior to win his first.
Respect to lando and oscar but big L for mclaren here

If the faster McLaren was going to win today, it would have been Norris.
@@JANISAM- this isnt even the first time this season that oscar has been screwed over by poor pitstop calls from the team. mclaren really needs to get it together because they have two fantastic drivers and the fastest car and yet it still feels like they botched a 1-2 finish. totally agree that this has got to feel so bad for oscar as his first race win isnt even focused around his win anymore and instead the fact lando let him pass
If I had a nickel for every time McLaren got a 1-2 and Hamilton and Verstappen came together in a race, I would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but weird that it happened twice.
The actual incident was obviously quite different, but it's amazing how similar the image of Verstappen going over the front of Hamilton is at first glance.
And mclaren made questionable team orders in both races too
In both cases Lando came in 2nd to an Australian winner 🤔
Bahahahahahaha perfect use of one of my favourite meme formats 😂😂😂👏👏👏
Can also add that an Aussie won the race ahead of lando
As a McLaren fan, that was SO painful. Both drivers’ races ruined. We should be overjoyed but this feels like such a bittersweet 1-2.

I couldn’t even watch the podium ceremony. It just felt so bad. I want to watch these guys race each other with everything they’ve got and leave it all on the track, not watch this turn into something no one feels good about. I know it’s the pinnacle of motorsport and it’s cutthroat and competitive like nothing else but I’ll be honest I’ll like it a bit more when this all blows over some and hopefully it doesn’t go absolutely scorched earth nuclear.
Yeah it sucks so bad! Crazy that they made his first win so somber. Danny Rics end radio with the team also broke me. The pain 😢

@@hptubez21 I don’t know that he shouldn’t have pulled a multi 21 there. @@chillfish702but lando might need oscar for more than 7 points down the line so this is the right decision for norris imo. I would go as far as saying that this hickup might even be good for both norris and the team. they probably talked about this situation in debrief and will probably make it less messy in the future
@@foodtenswhalestream940 Hopefully for McLaren’s sake someone puts a little more pace in their car so that Lando does need Oscar because if they only have each other to race I think it gets worse and not better. I didn’t really want Lando to ignore the team, I think I was almost as annoyed as Lando by everything that happened during that race and him ignoring the team would have made my petty heart grow three sizes that day lol. That whole radio exchange was wild. Basically I think the team managed to make a bunch of bad decisions, wind up in the worst possible position and then have to depend on a racing driver, which is a rightfully selfish job, to not try and win. I’m not sure how many other drivers don’t ignore their team and win the race. To sum up they made a soup sandwich out of that race and didn’t really deserve to be bailed out by Lando. And oh boy he better not end up losing the championship by 7 points or he’s coming back next year in a Merc race suit.
😂😂😂 Lando catching Verstappen 😂😂😂 @@chillfish702
I don't want to pile on McLaren but they royally fked that strategy call. Lando had about 7 seconds to Lewis, plenty of time to cover off a Mercedes undercut. And given he was only 2 seconds behind Oscar that was always going to put Oscar behind. Robbed us of what was shaping up as a great fight between Lando and Oscar for the victory, _plus_ created a really awful situation where they had to ask a driver to give up the race win deliberately.
The McLaren-Norris team radio's were giving: Lando this isn't you 🥺
The whole chaos from the race genuinely feel like Oscar didn't even win it.
Yeah McLaren really fucked this whole thing up. Just pit Oscar first. Lando right after. Both come out infront of Hamilton still and Oscars win would feel great. Just unnecessary
Norris has always been a brat. This just has more exposure as it's for a win.
@@bleuplastic Screw off, if he's really such a brat he would've left Oscar in the dust and gone for the win.

I like this idea.
They did didn't they and he refused? Norris should definitely let him straight past and given it time for race to play out
@@chrisj6321they told him “at your convenience”
@@julianschwertzthewoodlands4161 that was them being polite. "At your convenience" doesn't mean 20 laps later after 30 radio calls begging for you to swap places. The intent of the message was extremely clear from the get go, swap the positions, end of. Lando argued right till the end whereas if he did as they asked he could have rightfully retaken position on track and there'd be little drama. McLaren may have caused the situation but Lando massively aggrevated it making it worse for everyone, himself included as he robbed himself of a chance to overtake and win on merit.
Once the pre-pit gap is established. Neutralize the pit order then let them race.
Will pleading with Lando, appealing to him emotionally and trying every tactic in the book was unbelievably cinematic.
Also GP telling Max off like he's his literal dad (not Jos, like a normal dad i mean) will never not be the funniest thing to happen to anyone ever.

@@armadillolover99 I swear on the broadcast they said he was up late, and then got up early after that to do it again in the morning. The only thing I could find said he was sim racing until just after 3 am and the race wasn’t until 3 pm. That’s almost 12 hours Crofty! I guess he would have needed to get up at least 3-4 hours before the race but even so how much sleep does he thinks Max needs? And he’s done the same before and won the race. It tainted Piastri’s first win and tried to make a villain out of Norris. It was an awful. But If Piastri did stay ahead then he earns his first win. This was the worst way to do this.

@@jacobbarton6689 I disagree, apart from the RB19 not peforming in bumpy tracks, everything else they did was fine, Sargeant ruined their strategy and Max had a great recovery given he was half a lap away from snatching P4. This weekend, everyone and everything underperformed at RB
This race probably went as good as it possibly could have for Perez
Long may it continue!
Hats off to Oscar for how he handled himself over the radio during the cool down lap.
Great F1TV commentary btw. DC reflecting on his "Giving up the win" moment in McLaren with Mika. DC said he regrets doing that.

If McLaren really want to copy Red Bull's success so bad maybe they should do without the Multi 21 bits of the story. 🤨

Indeed, all they had to do once it was becoming clear this was a 1-2 was make a decision on the rules and spell it out clearly to the drivers BEFORE the last stop. Or just let each side of the garage race to their best to the end so both drivers could have stopped earlier if they wanted to deal with the great tyre management in the final stint.
@@Good_Horsey Red Bull learned that from McLaren. DC and Mika 1997.
@@foldionepapyrus3441 I suspect there was agreement before the race that the race leader would not be challenged. Then they boxed the wrong driver first sending the second car to the front and made fools of themselves trying to undo the mistake.
As an Australian, I feel very conflicted after this race; Oscar won but I still hate McLaren for the way they handled it, and also Danny Ric got screwed by his team's strategy as well. Did Ferrari fire their strategy department and they've gotten jobs with other teams, I can't remember every team being this terrible at strategy
Indeed this has to be one of the worst handled races by a great many teams, at least one half of virtually every team screwed up badly. Which is probably the only way Perez actually managed to get to the points...
VCARB's Ricciardo strategy was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. He was faster than Tsunoda, rapidly catching Stroll and then the soft drivers pitted and for some reason despite being on the mediums VCARB decided to pit Ricciardo with them. He then got stuck in a very slow DRS train and VCARB eventually brought Ricciardo in again, so Ricciardo had 2 pitstops before Tsunoda even had 1.
lol ease up, ferrari has been far worse than this... for far longer
Classic comment!! Lol
Yep I'm starting to believe the team is doing it on purpose.
I don't think GP said that Max was childish over the radio, I heard it as "Myself (GP) arguing with the other teams over the incident would be childish"
You’re right.

You know skysports is going to twist it to make a big deal out of nothing for a non-British driver.
Ok but the move was extremely extremely childish.

I think the biggest culprit is Lando's engineer Will Joseph. He has this tendency to be indirect and indecisive. Rosberg's hilarious but valid advice to Stella was to remove language like "at your convenience" and just be much clearer.
Also somewhat ironically, had Lando given the place back immediately - what's the bet he would just have passed Oscar on track?
Lando would've not been allowed to race Oscar at all after letting him through. He would've been told to hold the 1-2.

@@akajase7059 That's the point... Lando was screwed if he pulled a Multi 21 as well. More so because this is Piastris first win
They told Lando earlier in the race he had up until a lap in the early 40s to fight for position. A pass on the track wasn’t an option at that stage.
Stella and Brown should actually thank god that Lando and Oscar are softies. Because the conditions in this team are almost the same as 2007. Rocketship fast car. Shit pitwall calls. Inexperienced leadership. Had it been Alonso and Hamilton in this 2024 McLaren they would have dragged each other into mud. And stella would have resigned stating mental health issues
Yes you are correct.
I do think Oscar will ultimately prevail over all racers. He is fine honed, balanced, fearless, and is developing surgical skills rarely at play even in F1. He is not in a hurry ! I do t think Lando would have passed him today even if the p1 had been relinquished earlier. Oscar strategic surgical driving is becoming so evident. I don't think Mc Laren can afford to favor Lando over Oscar now as they probably understand his trajectory. Of I were him much more collywobbles and Mercedes would be the next step. Just my humble opinion.
Neither Lando nor Oscar have what it takes to be a multiple WDC. Imagine asking Hamilton to let Rosberg through or Verstappen asking to let anyone through. That's why they are the GOATs and Norris will be lost to history
It was Mclarens best strategy race all season. They did the right thing - you don't understand, who cares
Absolutely correct.
So will Max's 2024 WDC (if he wins it) be remembered in the same light as Kimi's 2007 WDC?
As a McLaren fan I hate this. For Oscar, it’s a horrible way to win your first race (you can’t even be happy because you were given the win). And it doesn’t make any sense for Lando who is chasing max in the championship. As you said, if max wins the championship by 1-7 points, McLaren will look like idiots. No team would ever ask for their leading driver who is an actual contender to give away the win. It doesn’t make sense and I hope they stop being like that
I’m confused on a track that is so hard to pass on and an average time loss of 20 seconds why RB decided to pit Daniel 7 laps in. The benefit of new tires is almost entirely lost.
Lando needs to work on his race starts... This wouldn't have been an issue if he didn't have a habit of losing places by turn 1 every time starts on the front row
Yeah that's happening too often but he has the shittiest tracks for pole tbh. And today he had to really take care for oscar who was just going for it in T1 without any care.
Definitely his weakest talent
He said in interviews that his 2nd gear phase lagged and he lost out at that point. So it was the car apparently according to Nico rosberg
Nico rosberg said that Lando’s second shift wasn’t smooth. No fault of landos in terms of the shifting it was the car.
His reaction times are good; it's always the second phase.
3:55 I think the Dutch commentators on F1TV said it best: "McLaren has forgotten how to be a dominant team". Also, should Lando have listened earlier and give the position back, then just race again for the win?
McLaren would not have let them race
@@emilymartin7116 Based on what? You really think they would have gone on the radio if Lando had done the swap early and said "Thanks for that. Now listen, we know you are still on track for the driver's championship, but we need you to stay behind Oscar for reasons" with more than 10 laps to go?

Also, as much as I may have been upset at the moment, a small part of me would have enjoyed Lando telling them to shove it and winning anyway.
Yeah, Norris clownish behaviour really tainted the team. What a dick move. They knew they were racing until the pitstop in the 40 lap range. He got beaten by his team mate. Then sulked and put the cars at risk.

Listening to McLaren's debrief, one can believe that they completely forgot that there are two championships and that one of their drivers is fighting for one of them, a well-deserved victory for Oscar, but the position in which they put Lando, who has been in the very bad and good situations of the team along the way, it was too unfair.

Tsunoda has a better start than Ricciardo for some reason. That's what I reckong they need to discuss.
Everything aside, can we appreciate the broadcast direction this weekend. They used Live PiP w/ replays, they prioritised battles & then once done they cut to replay even though it was 5-7 laps old. It was done right for the most part
Id go one step further and say that McLaren where basically telling Lando that if he didn’t give the position back then they were going to shoot Piastri’s grandmother in the head and her spilt blood would be on his hands..the pathetic emotional blackmail was embarrassing!!
Not to mention the fact they totally ruined Oscars first race win!! 🤦♂️
You might think about using a better analogy...
CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE HORRENDOUS VCARB RICCIARDO STRATEGY???!??!
It needs to be spoken about for real!!! What was that horror show? At least Mekies admitted they got it wrong in the post race debrief that they publish. I hope they apologised to him because it cost him big time.
They wont. It works against the narrative of him being "washed"
Yeah and it’s even more horrible bc of the situation he is in
@@krishpykreame So true, they screwed his race at the worst time. At least the data shows he had strong lap times, especially once he got some free air in the final stint and better race pace then Yuki.
It doesn't suit Tommy's narrative to bring this up.
Lando isn't the Villain. Oscar isn't the Villain. McLaren is the Villain.
Lando should change his name to Rubens Barichello.
He’s hardly at Rubens level yet! today is the first time lando hasn’t benefited
Yes, McLaren is the villain.
Yes, McLaren is the villain, but also shows how Lando is a jerk
The thing Norris did wrong is not take the win.
@@Jeval-496 Every dominant, multi-WDC winning driver has jerk-like qualities when it matters. Verstappen, Lewis, Alonso, Schumacher. You need that selfish douchiness to win titles consistently and force the team to favor you. Of course, it can't just be a bluff, you need to deliver the win if you're going to disregard team orders (like Vettel did)

Stroll actually did disobey team orders to finish in front of Alonso
Yeah I missed that at first too, only caught it after I saw the radio messages where Stroll was asked to let Alonso back through but Stroll just ignored them
Oscar apologizing over the post-race radio hurt so much. Nobody’s first win should be like this
The fact that he apologised after he won is crazy and tells you the story how much McLaren screwed up Oscar’s maiden victory feeling
Oh to be a fly on the wall in both teams...
This is like the one time I hope DTS give us all the drama, and not just the drama they’ve usually manufactured.
Who wants to win their first race by having their teammate pull over from six seconds ahead? Nobody.
Bit like Hakkinen's first win.
Total garbage win, absolute rubbish
The boys were clearly told the race was until the pit stops in the the 40 lap range. Norris was 2nd.
The game after that was manage the 1-2 to guarantee the result.
The job was slow, manage the gapo to 3rd.
Piastri did just that.
Norris went clown mode and raced off demanding that he be passed. That the boys race wheel to wheel. He knew the game.
McLaren need to heavily fined. And dropped from FP1 in the next race.
What we saw today is Piastri is th #1 driver in terms of skill.
Why watch a race if you think it is clown mode for a racer to race?
@@desshinnick9365Clown mode is being 6 seconds clear with 2 laps left?🤣🤣🤣 he could have won by 7, Oscar got his pity win
Really feel for both Lando and Oscar here. They both did exactly what they needed to do all weekend and could've had a clinically clean weeked; the cherry on top might've been Oscar's first win.
Instead, they got caught in the crossfire of a really stupid strategy blunder, and that's dampened a fantastic weekend. Can't put any blame on either driver really, this was an unfair situation to put them in.
I’m no Lando fan but I think he showed himself to be a young man with great character and maturity during that race. Put yourself in that seat for a moment. You’re driving at 300kph, leading the race, making decisions every nanosecond. He’s in for his second career victory, one that could make a big difference at the end of the season if Max keeps having issues. It took him a few laps but he made the very sportsmanlike decision to play for his team and let Oscar through. Honestly, I think Oscar would actually have understood if he kept going. Personally, I think he should have taken that victory.
I refer to Alonso’s infamous quote of ‘he doesn’t know how to race not in first place’. Max absolutely came across as a child in that race, he was blaming everyone but himself and not acting with good sportsmanship. His post race interview was the same, no accountability for his poor drive. His race was falling apart and he didn’t know how to handle it. Look at Hamilton and the way he’s vented his frustration at the car and his standing, he carries it with more maturity. Max needs to grow up. You can push for the win, and be ferocious, and not be an ass in the process- don’t just make this ‘boys will be boys!’ or ‘that’s just the way he always is!’. No. You can be successful and not an ass.
This race was so uncomfortable to watch. It was so Toxic.
Totally agree.
Absolutely I missed it and watched a recording and after that Lando pit it got so damn awkward I started skipping to the end, didn’t even watch the podium ceremony. Damn.
For me it was quite entertaining until the McLaren teamorder and the begging, like cmon, jeez
The soundtrack of this race was "toxic" by Britney Spears
Cringe maybe, but “toxic”? That word has been beat to cringe.
I think a lot of Maxs frustration is also coming from carrying the team entirely on his own. It’s not just the pressure of the drivers championship but the constructors as well. Checo is hurting the team and actively making Maxs job harder.
💯🎉
THIS!
Common sense fair play mate 👍🏻👌🏻
Oh yeah 100% his back his starting to hurt and now he's having to drive at 110% and is starting make mistakes
That's not fair though. The car has been letting him down but the team was with Max all the way with strategy, even if Checo wasn't. The irony is that Checo recovered decently and had a solid race for once, where Max just crumbled.
Tommy is right, he's just not adjusting to the development falling away. Similar like it was for Ferrari and Aston. It happens, it's unfortunate but you just need to grow up and suck it up. It's F1, whether people wanna accept it or not, the biggest race is the development race.
Monza 2021 this whole sunday: have you all forgotten about me?
McLaren ruined Oscar's first race win. Yes Norris pulled a 2.5 second gap in the final stint but there is no way that would result in an overtake at Hungary
He pulled a 6+ second gap after catching up 3 seconds before the pit stop. Lando had a very good very real shot at passing Oscar on track had they pitted Oscar first.
Nah he got 3.5 sec lead from the undercut by the time Piastri exited the pits. Hence only pulled 2.5 sec when on the same tyre.
I've been a die hard McLaren fan for a couple of years now, but everyone has their limits. This incompetence, if it keeps up, will likely lead to my rooting against McLaren. Not the drivers, but the team. I mean, Alpine probably wouldn't even have done this to Oscar.
Of course not. No one is going to get in that kind of mess over 18th place. Well, no one except Ocon and Gasly.😂😂😂
@@chillfish702 Ha! I was using exaggeration to wrap my point up, but you're right!
The max situation was weird, Crofty was weird about it but also some people seemed to think Verstappen is unaffacted by human needs or biology. Did it solely ruin his race? No. Did it help? Also no.
Stop being so sensible! We can't have that around here
It was 30+ degrees and extremely difficult to pass in a car with a lot of updates that may or may not have worked. I think Max would have been pissed off regardless of how many hours of sleep he got.
Crofty lost the plot. Let his Max antagonism show.
keep crying
I was just baffled when Lando's engineer went on the radio every three seconds talking about tires, slowing down, emotional damage, etc. Like dude was trying to sabotage his driver because suddenly Oscar needed to win and they mucked up the strategy to do it without drama. Absolutely insane and unprofessional. Good on Lando for not being afraid to respond to his engineer in the way he did.
Racing Bulls strategy utterly screwed over Ricciardo why did he pit at the same time as the ones on softs, it made no sense
It was a Ferrari level of clown show on DR's side of the garage. Completely screwed his race.
@@sarabeth7415 absolutely, specially given DR was ahead
Maybe he overcooked the tyres?
@@xenonplays191 Nope, DR reported all ok with the tyres. Team didn't report any issues either.
@@xenonplays191 wasnt the case just god awful stratwgy. His last stint was also a lap longer than yukis and he clawed back 14 seconds vs yuki by tmike he started getting blue flags. He was only 8 seconds away from yuki until that point despite having to fight through the field. Should have been easy double points.
Absolutely love the podcast guys, but it would be great to hear you cover a few more topics a little more extensively from a race like this other than just Max/Lando (if possible). I'd love to hear you speak more about things such as Gasly's back to back DNS and DNF, Alonso's frustration this weekend and RB's shocking management of Ricciardo's race. Fully appreciate it's hard to speak a lot about everything but given this was such an intriguing race your thoughts on all this would be awesome to hear. Can't wait for the Driver Ratings!
Even if Norris didn't verbally agree to the undercut and swap back, he did by pitting when his team asked, he knew what he was doing. He wouldn't have been able to undercut Oscar if that offer wasn't there because Piastri would've pitted before Norris and I doubt Norris would have been able to pass him on track. Lando then disobeyed team orders by taking more life out of the tyres than they wanted, clearly going faster than they wanted. So, yes, Lando deserves some stick, but not as much as McLaren.
It’s actually not quite as much about max not winning (although that’s part of it) as it was max feeling like his team didn’t give him the chance to extract the most from the car. It’s not the first time he’s not won a race, but he’s usually in better spirits when he’s able to give it his all, win or lose.
@DominicGreene72 exactly and then when your team makes not one but two strategic mistakes and lets Max get undercut not once but twice I would also be “not amused” to put it mildly. Max is there to win and race for another championship and you can’t afford these kind of mistakes, especially when you can’t give him the car to have a chance of winning!
@@caro2501They gave him a 9 lap delta with faster tyres, he should have passed Hamilton.

I was waiting for this video since the finish of the race 😂😂
Lando has been unbelievably loyal to McLaren extending his contract multiple times when they couldn't deliver. Their idiocy has shown Lando that even with a great car they still can't be trusted not to foul up. Their stupidity has damaged his relationship with his engineer, can Lando trust him anymore, damaged his trust in the team. Neither driver was at fault here.
Sure but Lando does seem to get the better strategy and preference most races over Oscar.

Well said - I think the team let Lando down and dare I say it possibly cost him a championship so golden boy can win.
How a team manages to make fans on all sides angry is amazing. Taking away a second win from Lando and leaving a massive stain on Oscar’s first? Astonishing
I don´t understand why Norris didn´t give the place back earlier, he was so much faster, so he could have raced Piastri in the remaining labs!
Thank You! Thank You! I thought the same. Lando wasted all time arguing 🤷🏻♀️
Ferrari: “We have the worst race strategy of all time.”
McClaren: “Hold my Guinness.” 🍺
Everyone keeps saying that GP called Max childish but I never heard that, I heard GP tell Max that he wasn’t going to argue with other teams over the radio because that would be childish. Unless I missed something else?
You didn't, just Max haters twisting GP's words
@chillfish702 exactly my thoughts, but as we know, now there’s a “chance” people want to have a dig at Max, twisting things around that are being said, always the same old same old
I haven’t seen a single F1 related source saying anything different, it’s wild.
I just pulled up the recording and Max's radio call was "he (Lewis) moved under braking" and the response was *"I'm not even going to get into a radio fight with the other teams Max, we'll let the stewards do their thing; it's childish, on the radio. Childish".* I think it's pretty clear that Max was being told that his attempt to litigate something quite clearly his fault over the radio was Max being childish. Sorry Max fans, but please stop spinning everything...it's so dishonest.

Did McLaren not ask both drivers to save tyres? People claiming Lando was faster fail to acknowledge he ignored team orders to save tyres - obviously he will be faster. To then say that Oscar needs to catch up after he follows directions to save tyres is so immature. Oscar gained and held the lead to lose it to an unnecessary undercut. McLaren's fault for making this scenario happen, but Lando's attitude about holding onto an unfairly gained lead is not what the team expect from him.
Spot on.
The team lied about his tyres. Who would save tyres on the last stint? You’re saying Oscar did not try to push? What kind of drive causes you to run wide without pushing? Stop being delusional. Wins require no mistakes, whether is it to insist on pitting first or not. Piastri did not do that.
Somehow his first win is more important than others trying for the WDC.
Perhaps i’m wrong but wouldn’t Lando be driving away because he wasn’t really following team orders at that point and Piastri was? If Piastri was conserving his tires more(as asked by the team) and Lando was pushing more it’s normal that there would be a gap.
Piastri was ahead the whole race, it’s strange to me that he suddenly was not able to catch Lando on newer tires.
It's unbelievable how cool headed Oscar is. Lando acted like a spoiled toddler!
Spot on, got the undercut and free to race in clean air.. drove under target lap time.
Yes conserve your tyres, but feel free to run wide as much as you want so that you can catch up with lando. Great conservation.
Piastri was flat out with newer tyres and Lando was still quicker. Piastri was told to catch Lando and he will let him pass. Lando was told when he catches you let him pass problem was Lando on old tyres was quicker than Piastri so eventually they had to tell Lando that Piastri was slower and unable to catch him.
Alonso was asked to give up his position to Stroll btw. Thats why he was upset post race.
For those trying to say lando would've won anyway don't even try. Oscar would've extended the lead if he didn't get undercut twice by his team lando does not pass him in fucking Hungary. Use your heads omg.
But he still couldn’t catch lando? Lando had a lot more pace at the end every lap he was lapping faster an piastri

That makes sense, didn't figure out why Oscar did not catch up to Lando initially. I was confident he can close the gap to Lando without McLaren giving instructions

Spewing for Oscar… I’m sure he still feels he got a first race to win. Happy for him but McLaren fked them both big time. Tarnished an epic one two
Max was savage in the Dutch interviews - he said he got 'dumb radio' back after he complained about the undercuts instead of them acknowledging the strategic blunder and that seemed to have incensed him even further 😅
If Max doesn’t get a penalty for causing the contact with Hamilton, even though Carlos did for his contact with Piastri, and Alonso did for his contact with Sainz, will people really start asking questions about Alonso’s accusation towards the FIA earlier in the year?
But he did not cause the collision. Ham turned into him. Doesnt matter if max locked up or not. If max hit him in the side or front wheel while sliding, different story. But you cant just steer into a car. maybe max could have even made the corner who knows.
Norris did the same thing in austria. Max had to go wide to avoid. Thats how it should be. You shouldnt be allowed to just steer into your opponent.
Hams move was way more of a 'i will cause a collision' than max vs lando for example, where nobody actively steered into one another.
But in my book, i would not have given alonso a penalty for russels crash, i would not have given max a penalty for landos dnf and i wouldnt give ham one here.
But getting a penalty for locking up is pure stupidity.
not too long ago Alonso said of Hamilton that he only knows how to race and win from the front, Im starting to think that anecdote is actually true of Max. this is the 2nd race where Max was facing pressure and it resulted in contact between himself and someone else.
How much amnesia does a man really need to have? This guy won from just about any grid position imaginable??!!
McLaren / Lando fan here.
I am 99% sure this outcome was predetermined from the start in that McLaren had an agreed upon distance they could race, then the places were locked.
Norris had a radio call from his engineer that he could race until mid 40s. That told me that whoever got the jump on the start would be free to go and second was free to chase UP till that point.
Do I like it? No. I hate team orders.
But if that was the agreement, then it was the right thing to swap them back.
But why not pit Oscar first so he gets undercut times and then none of this is talked about?!?!!!
For once, McLaren nails the overall strategy, absolutely bungles up the inter-team strategy.
I think Lando not swapping right away is him communicating to the team: ill do it this once, but after this, no.
Oh well. RBR loses even more points in constructors. Me = happy.
