    Canada Post is a package delivery service. If I got my mail once a week (hey, even once every two weeks), that would be fine. 1 Person could do 5 different routes a week. If it were any other company, there would be a massive restructuring strictly to parcel and perhaps farming out the weak mail delivery part of the business. And offer domestic small packet rates. I am currently using Chit Chats for my business delivery and paying less for international mail. Domestic is also better rates if you need tracking. I will probably be sticking with Chit Chats even after the strike is over. I'm sure there are a lot of small businesses that have found new and less expensive options due to the strike and will also not be returning to Canada Post once this idiotic strike is over. There are a lot of small delivery companies out there now. The world has changed, and CUPW has to come to terms with it.

  • @weil9525
    @weil9525 15 часов назад +2

    Canada Post made a fetal mistake by continuing to deliver door-to-door. I spoke to a mailman last month and he was complaining about the amount of walking each day. In what world are we still delivering on foot (door-to-door)? when 90% of the mail we get are "junk mail advertisement" these days. And almost every service can be done online, including receiving funds directly through auto-deposits. E-transfer has replaced the needs to mail cheques as well, and we can deposit cheques on phone apps. So lay off 30-40% of work force, adopt 100% Community Mailbox type of delivery, and create more ways to generate income through existing kiosks inside Shopper (ie. deliver prescription drugs for Shoppers, sell more services? be creative). This will reduce cost of labour, gas, vehicles, vehicle maintenance, etc. But let's wait till early 2025 when NDP/Liberal are going to give them a big BAILOUT package. This is the Union's fault. They don't want part-timers to deliver on the weekend, they don't want full adoption of community mailboxes.. but they they want more pay, more benefits when their employer will run out of cash by early 2025.

      Agree word for word. They are complaining about safety risks due to all the walking but the union is dead set on ensuring daily door to door delivery which isn’t necessary. Community mail boxes would create more efficiency and yes - take an extra two mins to get your mail for those who “like” door to door service.

    Look, It is in Canada's interest and Canadians interest to have our national mail service offer 6-7 day a week service. It is in the employees interest to expand service and promote longevity to the profitability of the Canada post corporation to not burden tax payers further. Also further making their jobs secure for the future and potentially the next generations.

It's a business that has had many of the restrictions and costs to doing business in Canada, Artificially removed.

CP workers priced themselves out of the market, for the service they provide the benefits they receive cost too much. They're dead weight when it comes to the economy and moving forward. Which is exactly why Canadians en masse don't care about this strike and don't even notice it.

      Because Purolator is not forced to deliver to non-profitable locations. Canada Post is a service with a mandate that all Canadians can send and receive mail. Even if this means losing money in some places. Problem is the profitable places are not offsetting the losses anymore. A for profit company would just stop delivering to the unprofitable areas but CP cannot do this.
